CAN SOME MODERATOR PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY MY LINKS ARE DELETED?

On many of the ballpark pages there are external links to ballpark review websites. However, when I add my ballpark link (which is NOT for advertising purposes), it gets deleted. Go look at some of the sites listed... ballparkreviews.com is one of them. Listed on nearly every single ballpark page on wikipedia. Now, look at my website www.david-mccann.com (WHICH IS A BASEBALL SITE!) and tell me what the difference is. I travel the US and visit MLB and MiLB ballparks every year and write very extensive reviews, and I give each ballpark a grade. What is the difference? My website is no different from ballparkreviews.com, littleparks.com, or any of the OTHER ballpark sites. Someone answer me.

As pointed out in the message above, your answers are at WP:EL, particularly at WP:EL#AVOID and WP:EL#ADV. Its not an argument to point out other links that may or may not belong. Quite honestly, I'd delete them too, but I don't personally clean out that stuff on a regular basis. What I (and others) noticed is a new user account doing nothing but finding articles to link back to his own site. ccwaters (talk) 15:33, 22 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Again, this is another perfect example of an editor picking and choosing he or she wants to keep, despite how factual the link is. How did the other links get there? Don't tell me the ballpark reviews links ended up on almost EVERY ballpark page from different users adding them. I'd bet they were put on there the say way I put mine on there... they were probably all placed there by the same user within a few hours. And you didn't delete THEM. Sounds like you are just bias because my domain name doesn't have "ballpark" in it. Of course that's where I would start as a wikipedia user.. something I am personally interested in. I'll have more to contribute on other areas as well, check back within a week or so. Davidm8985 (talk) 06:01, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

You should check out WP:WELCOME. There are plenty of constructive ways to better wikipedia and I look forward to you doing so, however linking back to your own personal website is not one of them. If you need an outside opinion type "{{helpme}}" on this page. That will alert someone to stop by here. ccwaters (talk) 13:10, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
