Re:Smallville edit

You've done some great work with the Smallville page, but I think you need to go back and fix a lot. You removed a lot of citations and they need to be placed back. You cannot simply reword it so that it doesn't need a citation. Citing IMDb for the awards does not cut citing each individual award. IMDb gets its info from fans and doesn't lists any sources. You did the same in the "other media" section also. Please go back and return the sources to their appropriate topics. Bignole 13:27, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'll fix it when I get to work and have the time to sit down and go through all your changes (by fix I mean make sure all the citations are were they should be). We only listed the awards they won, not the awards they were nominated for. Most featured articles don't list every award nomination, just the wins. Oh, and I'm not saying "get rid of the paragraph in favor of the list", the paragraph form is better. Just add the citations to the end of each award that was one. The citations are from the "horse's mouth", so to speak. Bignole 13:43, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Look, what I'll do is go through and pull out all the citations, then revert back to your format and reinsert them. What I need for you to do (if you will please) is go to IMDb and look for ANY "Emmy" nominations the show has had in ANY of the seasons. Emmys are the IT of television, and though we don't usually mention nominations, if it's for a major award ceremony like the Emmys, then we should. It shows that the show was recognized by the top dogs. Yank out the urls for each year that it was nominated (if any), then we can work them into the paragraph. Bignole 13:57, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
On second thought, I'll work on it when I get home and have access to all sites. The paragraph format is better, we just need to do two things: cite all the information from their actual source, and reword and rearrange some things. You have a 2002 award after you've mentioned several 2006 awards. Also, I don't know what happened to it, but the information about the Pilot's ratings was removed completely (or so it appeared). Bignole 14:36, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Don't get too excited, lol, I'm sure it's going to get torn up from the ground up. Expect a lot of flaws to be shown in the review. All the sources will be tests, the writing style. In comparison to Pilot (House) I think it stands up, but we won't know for sure till we get some feedback. FAC will be harder than a peer review, so even if it fails we'll know where to go from there. I've tried to make the non-free images as bulletproof as possible also.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 01:48, 8 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Letting you see what I've done so far with the "Pilot" for Smallville. click here.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 16:20, 21 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I was going to mention the DVD for the first two eps...I think that was a UK thing. I think "that" was the UK DVD for a long time before they finally sent out the entire season. I can't remember...it's mentioned in the books. I still have to watch the pilot again with the commentary, so hopefully that will help also. I'll check out those links you gave me. I have some stored in my favorites, sectioned off per season. Oh, I put up some proposed mergers. You may want to take a look at what I wrote. I'll check on the Aquaman lead; it may be tomorrow because it's midnight now and I have class early in the morning.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 03:55, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I only saw Hartley linked twice, so I removed the second one. The only thing I saw out of place in the lead was the Toale to Hartley reference. I don't remember that being there, and it's confusing since you don't know who Toale is when you read the lead. I removed that so it basically says what the show is, and then says that it wasn't picked up and went to iTunes. Pure basic style guidelines for a lead (Paragraph 1=basic info; Paragraph 2=influence/impact of show). I saw the links, I'll read them more indetail tomorrow, I saved them in my favorites too. They appear to be good to give a more varied explaination of how the pilot performed. Good find.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:02, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I plan too. I didn't load up the Reception section from my sandbox because it isn't in prose yet. If you go to User:Bignole/Small sand you'll see that I mention all the awards...well, all of the ones that have pages here.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 05:27, 27 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I finally finished the work on the season page. Take a look and tell me what you think. It needs a good copyedit for wordiness and word choices, but that's easy to find if the page is implented into the mainspace.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 17:02, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Aquaman edit

We need to do something about that sentence "fan reaction and internet reaction..." because we cannot measure "fan reaction". The only thing we can measure is the online sales from iTunes. Bignole 15:24, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I'm going to to see if I can find some more reviews for the reaction section. Maybe even get some pics. Bignole 12:48, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
This is true. I hope it gets a vast array of opinions.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 01:56, 8 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
That still falls under fair use, it's a copyrighted image.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:10, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think my only objection to it is that it isn't from the show, it was a marketing picture used for iTunes, and probably every other download service that show appeared on. What I would really like is to get detailed numbers for how many iTunes downloads occured. We know it became the highest selling television show, but I'd like to know by how much.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:13, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
That's up to you. We haven't really run into criticism over the images, but you're probably right to try and nip any potential criticism in the bud. Copy the fair use rationale I put in the others, but adjust the wording on some of the criteria. I'll see if I can find some nifty quote to put in a quote box (I just recently learned about them and I'm loving them); quote boxes are a good way to get around using images in a page.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:21, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've been looking for the download number, but I can't seem to find it. Generally, people just say it's at the top. I don't even know where to go on iTunes to find that (which I don't think they publish on their site).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:22, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've added a quote box, you can check it out. Mull over the image, I'll leave it up to you. Right now, we aren't getting a lot of feedback so it's hard to tell. One guy voice one objection but has yet to return to see if I've fixed it to his liking. Erik's busy with his personal life right now, but he said he'd return to read through the article again more thoroughly. Matthew....well Matthew and I have had a history, and you can believe that he'll make the review a difficult one (e.g. like his request that we cite the lead). No one has addressed my concerns about the review section. I personally don't like using non-professional reviews for this page, and I believe just the iTunes performance should be notable enough for the pilot's "impact" requirement.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:32, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm hoping to get some feedback on the FAC with that. I think it might look bad if two of the very few contributors to the article suddenly deem that section irrelevant and remove it. I'm hoping others feel the same way about it though. I think it really hinders the article's credibility, because it's a place where we have the most unprofessional citations.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:50, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh yeah. If you know how it performed there...yeah. I've been going through Variety and Entertainment Weekly's archives to use as sources. I'm hoping to replace some of the more flimsy ones with more reliable ones.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 05:00, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Went ahead and adding the Marketplace information and source.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 05:05, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, with YouTube, I believe it's just counting "hits". Since there isn't a true "download", we couldn't verify if the same person was just watching the trailer 20 times a day.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 05:09, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
It would be nice, but it wouldn't be verifiable. Good luck trying to expand the filming section (it kind of needs it). I'm going to head off now (1:21 am), so I'll catch the changes in the morning...er...in about 9 hours or so. Happy editing.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 05:22, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:TMNT_soundtrack.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:TMNT_soundtrack.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ElinorD (talk) 10:58, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
