Seeking Editor Review Commentary (If You Like) edit

Hi. In conjunction with my RfA (that you voted on), I have created an editor review, to give people a chance to comment as to ways in which I can branch out or alter my contributions to Wikipedia. An RfA seems to solely focus on how one's temperment and contributions relate to how they might handle administrative powers (and the consensus on that seems to be that I'm not quite ready); the editor review opens things up a little more to a larger focus, and I'd love to hear community feedback in the sense of that larger focus, too. If you feel you've already expressed yourself sufficiently when casting your vote, then by all means don't worry about it, but if any thoughts come to mind or if you'd like to expound upon any suggestions or commentary, it would be appreciated. In any case, I appreciated you taking the time to express your opinion on my RfA, and I thank you for that. — WCityMike (talk • contribs) 19:55, 30 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

My RfA edit

Thanks
DarthVader/Archive 2, thank you for participating in my RfA. Unfortunately, a great number of oppose voters felt that I lacked experience, and a consensus was not reached (the final tally was 30/28/10). Perhaps I will try again in another few months when I have a few more edits under my belt. If I do, I hope I can count on your support. Thanks again! Cool3 talk 20:06, 2 June 2006 (UTC) (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the trust that you had in me when you supported my Request for Adminship. The nomination ended successfully and I am actually overwhelmed by the support that I received. Thanks again! -- Kim van der Linde at venus 06:22, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Admin edit

I have removed your request for adminship on the WarWiki because you don't have enough experience THERE. The WarWiki is very different from Wikipedia. Sorry. General Eisenhower • (at war or at peace) 15:37, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

My Thanks edit

I wanted to drop a brief note on your talk page (one admittedly not written to you only, but nevertheless truly meant) to thank you for your vote in my Request for Adminship, which concluded this evening. Even though it was unsuccessful, it did make clear to me some areas in which I can improve my contributions to Wikipedia, both in terms of the areas in which I can participate and the manner in which I can participate. I do plan on, at some point in the future (although, I think, not the near future), attempting the process again, and I hope you will consider participating in that voting process as well. If you wish in the future to offer any constructive criticism to me, or if I may assist you with anything, I hope you will not hesitate to contact me. Thanks again. — WCityMike (T | C)  ⇓ plz reply HERE  (why?) ⇓  04:26, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Norman Siegel edit

Hello DarthVader, my name is Norman Siegel and I'm an extremely busy man so please excuse my frankness. I'd like you to reconsider the delete comment on the Israel A. Burns page. I don’t believe that he was given a fair objective disication because of his age. He has notable references and I believe he has done more in the city of Brooklyn then most of the local officials. That being said, if you would simply do a more serious inspection of the page, hopefully you will see the noted significance thank you.--N Siegel 23:40, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

DarthVader, thank you very much for your support in my recent Request for adminship, it passed with a final tally of (65/3/3) - which I find both amazing and humbling. I wish I had time to thank everyone personally, but I'm afraid all I can offer is this token of my gratitude. I hope to live up to your expectations/hopes. Catorce edit

Hello! You are receiving this message because you participated in the deletion of a vanity article about Catorce, an improv troupe in Phoenix Arizona.

As an objective Wikipedian attempting to chronicle notable figures in Arizona music, comedy, and improv, I decided to take on the peculiar project of ressurecting the Catorce page, but now with more criteria for notability (which is difficult, since there aren't guidelines for improv groups like there are for bands and musicians) and an objective POV.

I am inviting you to come visit the page and leave comments.

United Soviet States of America edit

Lord Vader, please let me explain my edit on USSA. In US History, we saw this documentary about Joseph McCarthy (the guy who accused everyone in Hollywood {and then some} of being Communist). The video also showed some of the early-1950's Cold War paranoia. Among these things, the US Army staged a faux-Communist takeover in a town in Wisconsin and they proclaimed the province to be part of the "United Soviet States of America". It was all pretty much to show the American people what life would be like as part of the Soviet Union.- JustPhil 13:20, 18 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

need help deleting edit

Hi, Im not sure how to go about reporting a copyright violation.

The article "Aaron Dunn" is in violation as it copies text right out of a book. The author died in the 1940s and the book written had its copyright extended past the 1904 original release.

Do I just delete it? Im not sure what to do.

thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Magic5227 (talkcontribs)

sorry, Aaron Dunn 1851 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Dunn_%281851%29

Hi, yes I saw that. I am familiar with music copyright law not for books, for music, it must be the author plus around 70 years, the author of that book passed away in the 1940s which would put it in copyright. A newer edition of the book was also published in the 1930s which also makes me suspicious, especially since it is just copied from the book.

Should I do something to the article?

A short Esperanzial update edit

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Blockage situation edit

      • THESE WERE THE REPLYS I RECENTLY RECEIVED FROM PREVIOUS MODERATORS - PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK INTO THIS AND RECONSIDER. THANK YOU!!

As a expert in the history in Americana music, as per my research on ART LORIA, "Doo Wop Performer / Singer" his information was very valuable to my current book project due to his associations with various performing groups from the late 1950's & 1960's. His discography of recorded music can be found on the Broadcast Music Inc page, DJ Productions Page, Alpineusa1.com Page where there is a pictorial history of his carreer, mymusic.com page, Jive Five Soulfull Kind of Music Page, Doo Wop Society of California page, etc....but there are just tidbits. Your page had all his early history that I was really Focused on. Due to this vandalism that I truly understand, I would ask you reconsider putting his musical contributions page back on line for it is of historical significance. Thank you. DOOWOPOLDIES1

PAST COMPLAINTS / REPLYS Art Loria ARTICLE - reply I understand your frustration at the actions of 68.194.159.223 that you feel compromise the integrity of Wikipedia pages. Unfortunately, I am not a site administrator so my powers are just as limited as yours. The best I can do is place a warning on his/her talk page, which could attract the attention of an admin. (As for BeatleWill, there isn't such a username. The user who calls him/herself BeatleWill is actually the IP address above.)

Since you're dealing with an IP address (which is not static), I would suggest that you and "BeatleWill" work something out on the Art Loria talk page. You can also have a look at Wikipedia's Dispute Resolution policy; it provides other avenues you can pursue.

I hope this is helpful. ... discospinster talk 17:47, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hey there I am an administrator, so I'll look into the problem today. Unfortunately, as has been indicated, the user with whom you're having trouble is contributing via an anonymous IP; the worst that can be done is for his IP to be blocked - and it's not impossible that he'd simply take another IP and come right back and keep causing trouble.

I hope that your problems will be easy to resolve. DS 12:07, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
