Image:WarrickGrizzlies.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:WarrickGrizzlies.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof 17:23, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Carmelo Anthony

While your work as an editor is much appreciated, I disagree w/ your categorizing/interpretation of spam and research on this. The category it was placed under was "External Links." Melo's Myspace im my opinion is a credible link and meaningful for people to see. Please see article in the denver post:

http://origin.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_5072305

This is Carmelo's actual Myspace page, of which he and 5 other staff are involved with. Though web 2.0 technologies such as wikipedia and myspace often have negative connotations of credibility, I believe it should be included. Besides see wikipedia's new links policy.

http://www.itpro.co.uk/news/103053/wikipedia-takes-on-spammers-with-new-links-policy.html

It will no longer even be able to be misused as a spam/advertising engine

I will add this to the discussion, before re-adding the link.

Spam in Carmelo Anthony

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in Carmelo Anthony. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Gliese 581 c

Hey, thanks for opening a discussion about diagrams and such with me. The reason, in this case, that I removed it referencing WP:NOR is because of the uncertainty I had about the diagram itself. In my opinion, a diagram like that which is used to show some very important aspect of the article like planet size, should be held to as high a standard of WP:CITE or WP:VER as anything in the article. Even more so because its visual impact can be so high. However, that being said, I see that the image page has a reference on it (I may have just missed it before) and maybe I just needed to improve the caption instead of removing the picture. I think I will re-add it. Thank you for taking the time to discuss it. --Chuck Sirloin 16:42, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Gerry McNamara

On June 1, you reverted an edit by Wikipediawarrior to Gerry McNamara that had changed his height from 6'2" back to 6'. After some research, I think the version you reverted was actually the right one (as in, he is actually listed as 6'2"). [1][2][3] I was going to change that in the McNamara article, but I figured I'd let you know, first. Thanks. Chengwes 23:29, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Walk ons

Recently, someone added Jake Presutti on to the Syracuse roster template. The kid is definitely on the roster, but do you think he's Wikipedia-worthy? He appeared in three games in his college career, and on top of that, a lot of the article isn't cited. I was thinking about nominating it for deletion because I think only scholarship players are really worthy of being in here. Thoughts? Chengwes 08:07, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Thebear.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Thebear.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 12:53, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Gerry McNamara

Do you think the lead section of McNamara's article is getting to crowded? It seems to mention everything he's done since he turned pro -- but that's why we have a "professional career" section. Maybe cut out everything but what he's going to do in the 07-08 season? Something like:

Gerry McNamara (born August 28, 1983) is a former guard for the Syracuse University men's basketball team, from 2002 to 2006. The 6'2" (188 cm) McNamara is known for his shooting--especially his three-point shooting--and his tenacity. He currently plays in Euroleague and Greek league games for Panionios in Athens, Greece.

Also, I was thinking we could move him getting his degree in Communication and Rhetorical Studies into the trivia section. While certainly worth throwing in the article, I don't think it belongs in the lead, either. Let me know what you think about my suggestions. Chengwes 04:28, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

I agree with everything you just wrote except for the birthday. I was looking around at other players in the NBA including Carmelo Anthony, Demetris Nichols and Hakim Warrick, among others, and they all seem to have the birthdate in the first sentence. What do you think? Once we get that down, I'll start cutting away at the lead paragraph. Thanks again. Chengwes 15:32, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
I played around with the article and added a few more references. Take a look at it in my sandbox. If it's not there, just go under "history" and "gmacupdate2." Chengwes 16:32, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Gerry McNamara (again)

I just got the article promoted to "Good Article Status" -- couldn't have done it without you, though. You should add this userbox to your page:

One other thing -- Do you think you can find a picture of Hakim Warrick to go in Wikipedia? That'll probably be the next article I try to get for GA status. Chengwes 05:21, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Re:Hak

OK - I hope you can find a way to get a picture, though. I think we're just one picture and a few small edits from getting the article bumped up to GA status. Chengwes 01:25, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Thebear.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Thebear.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:53, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Hakim Warrick picture

What do you think about this picture of Hakim Warrick?[4] Does it fit within the parameters of fair use? Chengwes 02:23, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Email

I can photoshop those kids out of the Hakim Warrick photo, but I'm not sure how to upload it into Wikipedia. If I email you the picture, can you upload it for me? Chengwes 16:21, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Why did you undo the change to the Quizno's article, no mention in the talk page either? Should I work it up better? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.121.14.242 (talk) 18:28, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Syracuse reviving and needs your help!

Hi Darry2385-- Just a note to claim that Wikipedia:WikiProject Syracuse, New York is at least somewhat revived, with a couple people contributing and a good number of new articles. See the new article list on the main webpage of the project. Hope you can return and participate! p.s. I am really more a fan of Westhill Senior High School than that school to the west.... doncram (talk) 01:46, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
