Sunday January 13: Wikipedia Day 2019 in NYC

You are invited to join us at Ace Hotel for Wikipedia Day 2019, a Wikipedia celebration and mini-conference as part of the project's global 18th birthday festivities. In addition to the party, the event features keynote presentations, panels, lightning talks, and, of course, open space sessions.

And there will be cake.

We also hope for the participation of our friends from the Free Culture movement and from educational and cultural institutions interested in developing free knowledge projects.

9:30AM - 6:00PM at Ace Hotel, 20 West 29th Street in Manhattan

We especially encourage folks to add your 3-minute lightning talks to our roster, and otherwise join in the "open space" experience! Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues! --Wikimedia New York City Team 20:34, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

Mount Vernon East station

I added a date for the opening of the new station to the history section you wrote. I thought you might want to check it out. Thanks again for all of the histories you wrote.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 19:41, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

HotelStGeorge jpg

can you mention the name of the other 2 files in commons whose name is similar to File:HotelStGeorge.jpg ? that sort of information is needed in the rename template or in the edit summary. once You respond, myself or someone else can handle this rename request. thanks. DBigXray

Gladly. File:Hotel St George vc.jpg, and I thought Jim Henderson uploaded one, but I double checked and found it was simply File:Hotel St George Henry jeh.jpg. So I was mistaken about one, but not the other. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 18:33, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the kind reply. I am sorry I will have to deny rename per WP:FMNN. the current name is unique and other files have sufficient disambiguation. your rename request could have been accepted had this been a recently uploaded file. but for old files unless, there are compelling reasons, we tend to not rename the file because renaming might break internal and external linkages. hope you understand. However this should not discourage you from making rename requests in future, according to the policy page I linked. regards. DBigXray 19:28, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

Interstate 85 in North Carolina

Why are we suddenly adding welcome/rest areas and truck weigh stations in the Exit List? In the past it was bad practice to include them, has that suddenly changed? Also, why are they all pink, it seems irrelevant to do that since they are part of the main line anyway. Personally I do not agree with this change and would much prefer adding a subsection instead of listing them with any additional information; could even mention about old rest area/weigh stations and reasons they may have been eliminated. After all, both welcome/rest areas and weigh stations do not require leaving the interstate. --WashuOtaku (talk) 03:23, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

For some reason, it seems to be okay to add them to the exit list as opposed to having a whole section on them. It seems fine on Interstate 75 in Florida, but all of the sudden I add them on Interstate 85 in South Carolina and it's considered bad practice? As for the pink, that's the color of partial interchanges, and since they only apply to one side it seems to be the appropriate color for them. Having said that, I can't get either incomplete access or concurrency colors on my monitor, because the replacement monitor that I'm using as a substitute for a broken one is broken itself, but that's more of a Dell issue than a WP:USRoads issue. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 06:09, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
Another editor did Florida and nobody raised an issue about it; if you look at other interstates in other states you do not see welcome/rest areas and truck weigh stations in the Exit list and I believe that is the right approach. I'm willing to discuss this further in WikiProject U.S. Roads to confirm what is best standard in regards to welcome/rest areas and truck weigh stations. I wish I could help you in your monitor situation, but alas I have no connections with Dell. --WashuOtaku (talk) 22:52, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
