Bus images

edit

Hi, as I have an interest in transport and have contributed to several articles on bus operators/manufacturers/types on Wikipedia, I've noticed that you have added many images to several such articles. While they are of very high quality and very interesting, the problem is that Wikipedia is not a photo album and articles on buses are not going to be just read by enthusiasts. Images on Wikipedia are used for illustration, so while one or two photos showing a few models in a range, different colour schemes/types shows the user what's being talked about, several images of what is essentially the same thing really appears as overkill. There are other websites out there such as fotopic etc. that provide a space on the internet to display photos, and a link can always be added to these sites in "External links". --Ayrshire--77 18:56, 6 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi DP5480,
You may want to consider uploading a copy of the images to the commons. This allows an album to be set up on the subject of the article, and allows the use of image on different languages of Wikipedia.
If you need assistance in doing that, let me know on my talkpage. :)

For your convenience, I'll transferring the images for you. - Mailer Diablo 03:42, 8 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Which is now complete. Do upload your future photos to the commons. And please don't forget to include a summary and a suitable image copyright tag as usual, to avoid them getting deleted. :) - Cheers, Mailer Diablo 08:14, 8 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Meanwhile I suggest (at least at a limited way) to cut off some of his photos in Wikipedia. It is just a bit disgusting to see every photo in every (Hong Kong related) bus article is having his signature. Patrickov 16:25, 16 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bus photographs

edit

Hello, DP5480. I saw your bus photographs. A lot of them are pretty great. It seems that you are a bus enthusiast. Actually, I was a bus enthusiast too, although I am not. I used to go to the Hong Kong Bus Discussion Board long time ago, and I also took some bus photographs in Hong Kong. I have just uploaded a photograph of NWFB 6008. It is good to put a photograph of 6008 to the articles, because it has the standard wavy livery of NWFB. Would you like to work together on adding bus photographs to articles? -Alanmak 07:21, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File source problem with File:DM9588@93K-G.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:DM9588@93K-G.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 08:44, 19 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
