Sorry edit

Don't know how that happened - it's possible I had and old version of the afd log page open and it overwrote it when I submitted (although it should warn when doing that). It certainly wasn't intentional. Yomangani 22:41, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Doug-uploader tool edit

May I ask you what kind of tool you are using to creat so many articles in so short time? I am currently involved in a few projects where that could come in handy. MoRsΞ 21:21, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Reply: Actually, no tool at all... I wish I had one. I did this manually. I spent about 45 minutes setting up all of the articles in over 100 tabs in Firefox, and the clicked to save the pages on each tab, in rapid succession. There is probably a much easier way to do this, but sadly I don't know of one yet. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. --Czj 21:46, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
In a way I am a little disappointed, and in a way a little happy (since I just finished creating manually 3,000 geography articles on the swedish wikipedia). At I can still feel a little proud about that all the hard work had to be done, that there wasn't a tool out there :) MoRsΞ 21:57, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Doug episodes? edit

Are the episodes in perfect order?Rlk89 01:57, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Response: Should be. They go by season and episode number. Do you have reason to believe they're out of order? --Czj 01:58, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • Yes, one or two websites list Doug's Christmas Story as the last episode, but these might not be acurate. Whare did you get your list from? Dose your list go by production number or air date?--Rlk89 02:06, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
      • You ordered them by production number and not air date.Rlk89 02:14, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
        • Here is the forth seasons episode ordered by airdate:

Seasons 1 and 2 are fine but 3 and 4 are not.Rlk89 02:36, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Reply: Thanks for the messages. I'm actually not the one who found the episode lists... I moved them over from the original Doug article (they were way too long) to a list of their own, and then stubbed them all. I saw what you're doing with the tables on there... that looks really neat. Thanks for helping with these articles. --Czj 02:38, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • Actuly 3 is also fine, 4 was the only one that's production code is different than thare air dates. Not sure about the disney ones though.Rlk89

User page subpages edit

Thanks for moving those pages...kind of a dumb error on my part. I'm trying to completely overhaul the tornado article and am making sub-pages to make it a little more manageable. I moved a third that I recently created to the User: domain as well. Thanks again! Runningonbrains 04:17, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

DRV history undeletion request edit

Hi,

I restored all of the StarCraft equipment's history for you, even creating a few redirects for redlinks myself first. The only exception was Devourer: since it was not classified with a "StarCraft" parenthetical, I left it empty, because I'm sure the term is used elsewhere in fiction. Best wishes, Xoloz 16:33, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Internet vigilantism edit

I've restored this article and closed the DRV discussion - articles deleted through WP:PROD get restored as soon as someone asks. For future references, the 'Contested prod' section of WP:DRV is generally the place for such requests. --Sam Blanning(talk) 23:24, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for restoring the article. I didn't know about that rule of getting PROD'd articles restored... thanks for telling me. Now if someone doesn't think Internet vigilantism belongs, would it have to go to AfD since it's already been PROD'd and contested, or does that policy only apply to articles which were contested during their original 5-day proposed deletion stage? Thanks again! --Czj 23:51, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yep, it would have to go to AfD. Once a PROD deletion is contested by anyone, PROD can't apply. --Sam Blanning(talk) 10:02, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp edit

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Wikipedia.

With new buttons come great responsibility, and I'll try my best to live up to your expectations. If you need assistance with something, don't hesitate to swing by my talk page or email me (trust me, I do respond :)). The same goes for any complaints or comments in regard to my administrative actions. Remember, I'm here for you.

your new comments. edit

Sorry, this is all new to me and over whelming. I was surfing from one story to the next to learn how the edits are done. I will need to spend a little more time offline to get all my details. I was thinking i could write and add a section as a work in progress.

Russia as an emerging superpower AFD edit

Hello there, I nominated the above for deletion. Unfortunately I messed up slightly in my nomination. The details would probably bore you, and I'm not sure that I understand what went wrong myself, but essentially Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Russia as an emerging superpower contains the deletion debate, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Russia as an emerging superpower (2nd nomination) (to which you added your comments) is a mistake. I'd move your vote across myself, but I'm not sure that this would be proper, I'll leave it up to you.

Sorry for the mix-up, Xdamrtalk 23:05, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks for the clarification. I've moved my vote. --Czj 23:24, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello edit

Umm can you help me learn about wikipedia thanks (I am new)--"P-Machine" 07:01, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • What do you need help with? There are a lot of resources available here. If you have a question about something specific that you can't find there, let me know and I'll do my best to help. --Czj 07:04, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

In the wii (diuscussion) there is something im sure is vandalism how can i take it off thanks --"P-Machine" 07:12, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Vandalism? Just click "Edit this page" at the top and remove the offending text. Write "rv" (for "reverting vandalism") or something similar in the edit summary. Try to make a habit of explaining what you did briefly in the edit summary. If you are removing content which is not vandalism, it is also a wise idea to justify your reasoning for doing so. --Czj 07:16, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ok edit

Thank you --"P-Machine" 07:18, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Sure. Also, just a head's up (not that you're doing this -- it's just so that you know ahead of time): It is generally not a wise idea to edit comments which other people have left on talk pages, or peoples' userpages. Unless you're removing true vandalism, this will get you warnings rather quickly. --Czj 07:20, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the info edit

Hey whats up with vandal proof?

  • VandalProof is an application that assists users in monitoring recent changes for vandalism. However, you have to apply for it first, and you probably do not meet the qualifications yet -- see this -- they generally only accept users with 250 or more edits. --Czj 07:27, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay edit

but like how do i get my rank higher?

  • Make more quality edits to pages, especially articles. --Czj 07:35, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Do you happen to have an AIM screen-name? I can try to help you get started some more in real-time conversation. --Czj 07:41, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

So edit

ive been only doing minor edits that will not help will it? --"P-Machine" 07:40, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Minor edits also increase your edit count. I'm not sure if the makers of VandalProof take into account the type of edits you make before approving you, but I think they mainly just want to ensure that a user is not going to use it for harm. It's a powerful program. --Czj 07:43, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • This will show you all of your edits, so that you know when you've hit 250: Special:Contributions/Foo12. It's also accessible by clicking "my contributions" in the top right if you're logged in. --Czj 07:45, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cynwyd Elementary School edit

The school is distinctly notable and the article has been expanded to provide details of its receipt of the Blue Ribbon Schools Program award from the United States department of Education, along with additional sources and material. I would have pointed this out on the AfD, but it was closed before anyone could do anything to challenge it or address the concerns with the article. I would be more than happy to restore the text of article and revert the redirect, unless you prefer to do so. If you would like to submit a second AfD, based on the new content, I will be more than willing to submit it for review by all Wikipedia users. Alansohn 12:38, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Thank you for pointing that out. However, it's still not a wise idea to singlehandedly overturn the results of an AfD discussion. I would recommend making your case at deletion review, and soon. I'll leave the article alone, but you should really bring it up there, because the article could technically be deleted on sight right now, due to #4 here. --Czj 19:34, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Also, just so you don't get the wrong idea, I am in favor of keeping the article now that notability has been asserted. Please alert me if you list it at DRV, because I will voice out in favor of it. --Czj 19:55, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Regardless of the result of the earlier AfD, and regardless of when it occurred, articles can and are recreated after "failing" an AfD. In many cases, the explicit purpose of a redirect is to allow the article to be recreated once additional information is available to establish notability. If you compare the article as it exists now after undoing your revert to the one that existed at the time of the AfD, you will see that the article has been expanded, is fully sourced, and makes explicit claims of notability. Pursuing a WP:DRV is not an option, as I have no issue whatsoever with the decision based on the state of the article at the point the the AfD was created and the decision made to "Speedy Delete" was not unjustified at the time. If you feel that the article in its current state does not merit inclusion in Wikipedia, the next step would be to create another AfD. Alansohn 15:00, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • I think you actually meant to respond to JzG. Please see this diff. Yes, I reverted the first time (on the 17th), but I left it alone past that. I also stated above that I do believe the article now merits inclusion, but simply thought that process was being violated and wanted to prevent the article from being deleted on sight. Apparently I was mistaken that such could happen in this circumstance, so my apologies on that point. --Czj 16:51, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
You're correct, the response was primarily aimed at JzG. But as you had reverted earlier, I wanted to be sure that I had stated my understanding of the issues to you, and I appreciate your understanding and support in leaving it as is. Thanks for the response. Alansohn 16:55, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Black Friday edit

I'm not sure I understand. I was looking for information on Black Friday and found the Wikipedia article, which included a section on Websites that track Black Friday sales items. I then found the site that looks to be the official site, but you're saying that's not an appropriate link. If not, what would be an appropriate link for an area describing Black Friday websites?

Thanks,

pbaez

  • Response: See external links to be avoided. Wikipedia is not a link repository, and one link to a deal site is no better than twenty. Linking to these sites constitutes original research. Instead, link to news sources (CNN, MSNBC), press releases (though I'm not sure if those could really apply to this article), etc. --Czj 21:29, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

why did you edit me? edit

why did you edit me in 30 seconds to mars for no reason at all?

  • The (your?) edit was blatant vandalism. Please see the diff. "The main people that listen to this band cut themselves." is not an encyclopedic addition by any stretch. Please note that the edit was made by an anonymous user though; not you, unless this was you before having logged in. --Czj 18:24, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

it is a true fact that could improve the encyclopedia article.
