Photon belt edit

I undid your revisions on this article. As far fetched as this claim is, it's still the claim that is proclaimed by some of the proponents of the photon belt belief. Taemyr 20:37, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah. He started off on Wikipedia with persistent copyright violations, moved on to incivility, then engaged in a bit of revert warring and templating the regulars. Now he's moved on to further edit warring and unleashed a few personal attacks. But I'm a nice guy. :) -- RG2 16:38, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Post-WWII Soviet occupation of Eastern Europe edit

It's enough to protect the page from moves, I agree. And honestly I don't think we even need a move protection; it is evident the only disputed move is the one done by Ghirlandajo - all others were a response to his controversial and undiscussed action (WP:POINT, anyone?).-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  21:14, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Indeed. Should we leave some message for him about this not being the most constructive editing action?-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  21:20, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Trogdor.png) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Trogdor.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:29, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Conn's edit

While I do not see Conns as a large retailer, and I believe that to be just your opinion (its no walmart, sears, etc.) And is only located in 2 states in the whole country - I originally removed it because of Wiki's rules regarding links to normally avoid. - and the link to the site was nothing but an advertisement.

  • Links mainly intended to promote a website.
  • Links to sites that primarily exist to sell products or services. For example, instead of linking to a commercial bookstore site, use the "ISBN" linking format, giving readers an opportunity to search a wide variety of free and non-free book sources.
  • Links to sites with objectionable amounts of advertising.

Conn's Link to the web site clearly goes against 3 of the rules- and additionally has rich media content which is normally to be avoided.

Please explain why you feel Conn's is an exception to these rules and a link should be included. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.63.105.152 (talk) 23:49, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

In 2006, Conn's was the eighth-largest appliance retailer in the US and growing, even with its currently limited region. The rest of your comment is a complete misunderstanding of the guidelines.
  • Links mainly intended to promote a website.
The link is intended to point readers at a major business based in the city. I couldn't care less about promoting Conn's.
  • Links to sites that primarily exist to sell products or services
Amazon.com exists primarily to sell products or services. This guideline says that it is inappropriate to link to Amazon in an article about a book. Removing Amazon's link from Amazon's article would be beyond misguided. Conn's does not currently have an article, and the other businesses listed have links.
  • Links to sites with objectionable amounts of advertising.
This refers to sites covered with banner ads and popups. A retailer's site will necessarily products sold on that site.
Conn's is a, dare I say it, notable retail business. A link to it is as appropriate as to any of the other businesses in the section. -- Cyrius| 06:42, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The only notable thing I see regarding Conn's is economics. However I do not see where you are getting your information from. I couldn't find Conn's listed for the top 100 retailers of 2006 - Could you please include links to sources. If economic growth is all that is needed for listing under Famous Businesses- then there are tons of business that should be listed here. They are also not listed under the top 100 fastest growing companies of 2006. http://www.stores.org/pdf/07TOP100Chart.pdf —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.19.14.36 (talk) 14:31, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just a note here (so that Cyrius doesn't have to repeat the same thing); I've already been through this explanation on my talk page. Scott.wheeler 22:20, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
