USCGC Tampa (1912) edit
Hello Cuprum17,
could you please explain me what "1930" means in this sentence?
"At 1930 that evening, as she transited the Bristol Channel, the warship was spotted by UB-91."
As it can’t be the year (as the ship was engulfed on September 26th, 1918), I thought it was the time of day, hence I added an h, which you removed: "19h30". I’m a little bit confused.

- @Herwarth: 1930 in this sentence is the 24-hour clock time for 7:30 PM. The American military time convention uses no colon between the hour and the minute, as in the first edit you made (i.e. 19:30) nor does it use an "h" (i.e. 19h30). The 24-hour clock is used militarily to avoid confusing 7:30 PM with 7:30 AM and in many military history narratives where certain events are told in sequence the convention is carried over in the narrative. Occasionally some authors in describing a military event or series of events will use a variation in the 24-hour military clock style that uses the style "1930 hours". April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive edit

- @Mztourist: I looked at the article and everything looks good for a B-class article except that there are a couple of paragraphs missing citations. - Thanks Cuprum, I've added one ref but details are lacking for the replacement of a couple of teams, the available reports just refer to the MIUWS 23 at Qui Nhon and then later reports refer to IUWU-3 and the same for MIUWS 22 at Nha Trang then refer to IUWU-4. - @Mztourist: The Cutler reference I put in the article kind of covers the replacement problem by flat stating that there were five IUWU units in country in early 1968. Hope that helps...however, now that I have contributed to the article I don't feel that I should change the class of the article to "B", even though the referencing question is solved. Suggestions? - Thanks, I don't have a copy of Cutler, so that's good to have. I also just created a page for the Strike Assault Boat about which there's very little information, does Cutler say anything about them? - I checked the Cutler source and he doesn't mention the Light SEAL Support Craft. I am checking a couple of other sources but I don't think they will be of much help. Stay tuned... Cuprum17 (talk) 14:16, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks, much appreciated, they really seem to be little known vessels. To complicate things further it seems that in 1967 the SEALs used a boat called the Seal Team Assault Boat, which abbreviated to STAB - the same acronym used for the 1970 Strike Assault Boat. There was also a Medium SEAL Support Craft, but again there's very little available information. Mztourist (talk) 04:55, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

- @Pendright: Hey! Good to hear from you. I hadn't seen much activity on your talk page (one of the few that I follow) and figured you must be staying out of trouble; at least as far as Wikipedia is concerned. I have started and stopped writing several small articles in the last few months. Somehow I just can't quite get them massaged into a final form. My edits have mostly been corrections of other peoples mistakes. I have a tendency to be able to see others mistakes in material but not my own! My machine shop hobby has taken up quite a bit of my time lately, probably too much if the truth be known. I miss being in my job shop when I was in business, but thankful I don't have to put in the hours to pay the bills. I'm getting out more now that I have received my two COVID shots and the threat of passing something along to friends and family are reduced. - @Cuprum17: Great to hear from you! I’m all vaccinated-up and staying well, thankfully! I have a few articles I think might be worthy of FAC, and I plan to nominate them by the end of the summer. Although I have not ben too active on Wikipedia, I have been reviewing AC article nominations for the past two years. Not all of them have been success stories, but some have been well received. In any event, it has been a positive experience for me, and I have seen improvement in my own writing and have a better appreciation and understanding of the rules of grammar. Give it a try; my guess is you would be good at it. I like the interaction with others, and I think you might too. Thanks for keeping in touch, and enjoy the summer.

"Bernie Webber" reverted edit
You have reverted my one-word edit to "The Finest Hours". In the "Plot" section it starts "Bernard 'Bernie" Webber", but after that it's all "Bernie", "Bernie", "Bernie". Then suddenly only FOUR WORDS after the last reference to "Bernie", it's "Webber and his crew". Not everyone reading WP has an IQ as high as yours. For people who have the short-term memory of a goldfish, (there are such people and it's not a convenient life), is it too much to ask that this last reference to "Bernie" should be as "Bernie Webber"? 202.142.52.94 (talk) 11:55, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

- You are being over-sensitive. There is no "MY TALK PAGE". User talk pages, like all other WP pages, are for the development of the encyclopedia. That is what I was doing. Yes, my tone was rather sharp, but I believe I also have reason to be offended by your simple reversion of what I consider to be a reasonable change. Would you prefer it if I had put my "offensive tone" in public on the article Talk page? I am discussing it here in private. WP editors are supposed to resolve matters by reasonable discussion. I believe my original post made a reasonable point and asked a reasonable question (if you disregard the tone. I have said why I did that, let it be quits at that). J. William Kime Article edit
I noticed the "thank you" note from you regarding my recent edit to the article I previously created on former U.S. Coast Guard Commandant J. William Kime. I went ahead and removed the stub tag from the article and submitted a request for WikiProject Maryland to reassess the article's current Stub assessment from them, although I am not sure what kind of response I will receive because WikiProject Maryland is currently listed as semi-active.
