Speedy deletion nomination of AuctionZing.com edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on AuctionZing.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. BethNaught (talk) 16:11, 2 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Status and Advice edit

As reviewing administrator, I deleted the article. An article written in the first section with an emphasis on "member benefits" is promotional.Nobody would be interested except prospective members. "Promotionalism" is what the subject would like to say to the public, while encyclopedic writing is what the general public coming across the name might want to know.

Further, it reads like a copy of its advertising. However, Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously; and does not accept material copied from other sources unless it is in the public domain, or released to us under a free license (It is, by the way, not necessary for pages to have a notice to be copyright: everything published on the internet or elsewhere is copyright to the owner of that content unless specified otherwise.)

It might be possible to get permission, but there is no point in doing so--a web site of this sort almost always is unsuitable for WP, because it is usually written as a press release, praising rather than describing the subject and containing material we would not include. It is therefore always better to rewrite.

Please never copy this way from an outside source, and also avoid Close paraphrase. If there is, rewrite that part from scratch, changing not just the words, but the arrangement into sentences and the sequence of ideas. DGG ( talk ) 18:36, 2 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. DGG ( talk ) 18:41, 2 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on Storage Unit Auction List requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Hi, So it seems that my page was tagged because "it does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject," however I have to disagree. My page provides a lot of information about different types of auctions, police, government, auto, etc; information that I'm sure could be found in any encyclopedia under "auction". I am also sure that there are many people unaware that there is such a variety of auctions available to them, which is significant because auctions are a great place to acquire quality items for half the price. Storage Unit Auction List is just one helpful source that I have found that can help bidders find these things out. As well, I provided a lot of good, creditable sources for viewers that are interested in auctions; a few of the sources detail statistics about storage auctions and online auctions in particular, another provides valuable information on state specific lien laws, and another could serve visitors as a guide to the resale industry.

So all in all, I am unsure why you would consider this page to be insignificant? I would be more than willing to change it to however you see fit and would appreciate any further pointers you may have.

Thanks, Chelsea Crzappel (talk) 17:12, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

There is already a page about auctions on Wikipedia, so there really isn't a need for another. Your page does not appear to be about auctions in general, but rather about one particular company that lists auctions. The fact that you have crammed the page full of information that is unrelated to the company is immaterial. The page clearly states:
Storage Unit Auction List is an auction listing platform that provides information on auctions across the United States of America.
So we are left with an unequivocal statement that your article is about a company, but with no claims of any significance for that company. Hence the deletion tag. Given the state of your user talk page, I suppose I should probably tag it with {{db-spam}} as well, as it appears you are trying quite earnestly to promote this site. But for now, the article doesn't appear overtly promotional, just not asserting any significance for the company. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:49, 5 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

June 2014 edit

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Auction. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. bonadea contributions talk 18:16, 9 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Draft:Maddison Lake edit

Hello Crzappel. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Maddison Lake".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:Maddison Lake}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 00:19, 9 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
