Charles Vane, 3rd Marquess of Londonderry

edit

Dear CrumbleCrumble. Thank you very much for your correction on the article Charles Vane, 3rd Marquess of Londonderry. I see that with > 8000 edits you are styled a Tutnum. Surely, I should never have added the "finally" to the penultimate list item. This was one of my earlier edits I have since adopted a more sobre encyclopedic style (at least I hope so). However, I still believe that a comma and the word "and" should be appear before the last item in a list. I am not an expert in "styles of nobility". I read up Royal and noble styles and MOS:HON. Everybody seems to agree that the style of a marquess is "The Most Honorable", but should this be followed by "Lord" or by "Marquess"? You changed Lord to "Marquess" but you did not change "Lord" to "Baron" in the line above it. Are you sure? Where should the style appear in aristocratic biographies? Should Styles sections be added to all such articles? I hope you would have the kindness to enlighten me. With many thanks, Johannes Schade (talk) 07:52, 15 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Richard Butler, 1st Earl of Arran, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Earl of Arran. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:06, 21 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Noble titles created in 1429

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Noble titles created in 1429 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Callaghan MacCarty, 3rd Earl of Clancarty

edit

Dear CrumbleCrumble. Thanks for your recent edit on the article Callaghan MacCarty, 3rd Earl of Clancarty. You deleted two of the three succession boxes that appeared on this biography. Before, the article had three succession boxes, one for each of his titles:

  • Earl of Clancarty
  • Viscount Muskerry
  • Baronet of Muskerry

Now only the first remains. There may be good reasons why you did so. One might suspect that Wikipedia somewhere has a rule prescribing that regnal succession boxes should be included only for the highest title and not for subsidiary titles. Such a rule might exist, but I have not been able to find it. However, you seem to have changed mind on the subject as you added on 20 November 2020 a succession box for the title as Baronet of Muskerry to the article Donough MacCarty, 1st Earl of ClanCarty. So I am confused. I am quite ignorant about how succession boxes should be used. You seem to know much more. Could you please be so kind as to explain your addition and deletion and refer me to the Wikipedia policy, guideline, help page, documentation, or rule that applies to such cases. With many thanks and best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 17:25, 4 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
