EntirelyPets Submission

Hi Crispulop,

You rejected the article I submitted for EntirelyPets (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/EntirelyPets) for the reasons: "Mostly trivial mentions and directory info and their own website. Not enough information to establish notability."

I included 4 references to newspapers that mentioned the company and 2 mentions to published books, as well as references to the BBB listing for EntirelyPets and USPTO trademark applications. Please let me know how I can improve these references if those are not sufficient to establish notability.

Smaller online pet retailers such as VetDepot (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VetDepot) are already listed in Wikipedia with fewer references; it would make sense that one of the oldest online pet retailers should be notable enough to also be listed.

Trivial mention means that the texts just mention EntirelyPets in passing. Examples of that would be the sources of recordonline.com and healthnewsdigest. The same goes for your two books, EntirelyPets is mentioned amongst a list of other of websites. By the way, from what I can see source number 11 doesn't even mention EntirelyPets (the article seems to stop after: "Such sites not only sell prescription medicine for pets but also").
Something that would really help in establishing notability would be information on market share, if it's not a low percentage that is.
From what I currently see I find the reference information for VetDepot rather dubious as well.Crispulop (talk) 23:11, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for the feedback. Is it really trivial if the website is listed amongst a list of other websites that are already listed in Wikipedia? If entirelypets.com is listed amongst other online pet retailers such as drsfostersmith that are notable enough to be listed in Wikipedia, does that not suggest that entirelypets.com is also notable by association? Websites that lack notability are not usually featured in newspaper articles or printed publications, much less 5 of them.
Reference 11 does mention EntirelyPets, but it looks like the rest of the content is behind a paywall. You can see the reference if you search for it in Google.
I can try to provide market share numbers, do you have any recommendations on where I can pull such data that would be considered reputable enough to include as a reference? Salsakesh (talk) 14:48, 6 November 2013
Yes, a listing amongst others without discussing the subject further would constitute trivial mention. Also, there is in general no notability by association. The subject needs to be notable on its own account. I'm afraid I don't have any information on where to get market share information, I don't usually write on companies. I also see you've resubmitted your article for Afc. Someone will come along and have a look at it at some point. Good luck! Crispulop (talk) 09:59, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
Ok, I tried to look for financial information, but they are a privately held company so they do not publish their financials, so may be difficult to determine marketshare. I have added more references to the entry to improve its credibility, including a few that go into more depth about the company. Thanks for your help. Salsakesh (talk) 12:23, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi, you seem to have provided a link to an article that does not exist. That is hard for me to help you with. Crispulop (talk) 18:37, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Name prefix upper/lower case

Hi, you seem to know about surname prefixes (van / van der/ de, etc.). Q1) Do you know also, if a name having such a prefix is referred to by the surname (last name) only, s/ the prefix be included (or not)? Thx. Q2) In addition, assuming for a moment that the answer to the above is that the prefix s/b included, I assume the prefix s/b lower-case ("When van Holst later wrote his memoirs [...]"), but s/ the prefix be cap'd at beginning of a sentence even though the name form alone is lower-case ("Van Holst wrote his memoirs at a later date when [...]")? THANK YOU. Ihardlythinkso (talk) 10:01, 14 November 2013 (UTC) p.s. I'm feeling probably my assumption in Q2 is false (i.e. s/b "When Holst later wrote his memoirs [...]" & "Holst wrote his memoirs at a later date [...]").

Q1 > If referring to someone by their surname the prefix should be included.
Q2 > When writing about someone with a prefix attached to their surname both the prefix and the surname need to be capitalized. So it should be: "When Van Holst later wrote his memoirs..." This however only holds when the first name or initial is not mentioned. So, Van Holst should also be capitalized at the start of a sentence. Is there a Wikipedia article on this Van Holst you mention?
I hope I made it somewhat more clear for you. Dutch naming customs can be confusing. And to make it more confusing, Flemish and German names which might look similar have different customs. The information at Dutch name#Tussenvoegsels is more or less accurate. If you have any further questions I'm glad to help out. Crispulop (talk) 18:37, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

UrbanToronto.ca

Hi Crispulop,

Thanks for reviewing the wiki page I was creating for UrbanToronto.ca. You mentioned that I didn't include enough credible links - I'm wondering if the following links would be considered credible and would help in getting this wiki page live?

http://www.blogto.com/city/2012/02/a_first_look_at_the_colossal_new_massey_tower_condo/ http://torontoist.com/2013/11/urbantoronto-u-of-ts-new-athletic-centre-has-a-skeleton-of-steel/

You can view the page I've submitted here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/UrbanToronto.ca

Any help you can provide would be awesome - thanks in advance!

Thanks, Bec Be McD87 (talk) 02:32, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi Bec, I'll first explain the issues with the current sources. Reddit is unreliable as a source, The Star is good as a source but it does not really say much about Urban Toronto.com which is a pity, the Great Gulf provides just an intro to an article that is on Urban Toronto. The fourth source by Urban Capital does not seem to provide much information about Urban Toronto either. I'm afraid the new sources you suggest are also somewhat problematic. Blog's are seen as having questionable reliability, see WP:QUESTIONABLE. And the Torontoist article seems to be written by Urban Toronto itself. Another issue I see with the article is the third and fourth paragraph make some important claims about Urban Toronto: " largest and most active community", " leading news and information source", "largest and most respected discussion Forum about urban development". These claims are not supported by references to reliable, independent sources. See WP:PEACOCK on how to avoid puffery words. I hope I helped you with this. Since I'm currently not so busy with Afc anymore, you might wish to ask any urgent questions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk. Crispulop (talk) 09:51, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

APSE page

After conferring with everyone at APSE, would there be someone at Wikipedia that would be willing to write our Wikipedia page? I know you can't use what I submitted as a resource, but you might use it as a reference point to determine what the history of APSE is and what needs to be included in the Wikipedia page. We would really like a Wiki page, and we are a substantial national organization. The problem is I don't work for APSE and I don't have a clue what newspapers or magazines might have done articles on the APSE organization. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Nonprofit Insurance Alliance Group article - New References

Hi Chrispulop, Thank you for your review of: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Nonprofit_Insurance_Alliance_Group It's taken me a while to get back to the article and add the references you suggested. I'm hoping this will complete the update. Thanks again for all your great assistance. I have really learned a lot!

INTRODUCTION 1. Updated reference to AM BEST per your suggestion (thanks for finding that and allowing the press release to stand as a reference).

“A.M. Best Affirms Ratings of the Members of Nonprofits Insurance Alliance Group,” Yahoo! Finance, Sept. 26, 2013</ref>http://finance.yahoo.com/news/m-best-affirms-ratings-members-145400658.html

MISSION - 2. Added a reference. NIA Group’s mission is to serve nonprofit organizations by providing a stable source of liability insurance tailored to the specialized needs of the nonprofit sector [Dave Thomas, “When the nonprofit insurer is itself a nonprofit,” Insurance Journal, Feb. 20, 2006]

Added the following quote from the referenced article. Is this ok? "Our members value stability in pricing and have an expectation that they will not be non-renewed because of a single claim. Instead of focusing on 'what the market will bear' we focus on what works best for our members and their brokers. We value the confidence our member-insureds place in us because we are, like them, a part of the nonprofit sector."

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE - Added reference to Guidestar, wikilink plus web page. 12. The Group is comprised of the following four nonprofit organizations [1] http://www.guidestar.org/organizations/06-1555321/national-alliance-nonprofits-insurance.aspx

13. All companies in the Group are governed by their member-insured organizations with their boards of directors elected by their members.[2]

CURRENT OPERATIONS 14. states[3] 15. The other insurer in the group, NANI[4], is a…etc.

NOTE: References 13 and 14 seem questionable, and perhaps unnecessary. Thirteen (13) refers to the company web page that lists the board members. Fourteen (14) refers to the web page that lists all the current states where the companies do business, which is also listed in the AM Best reference (1).

As you might have guessed I am still very much a novice when it comes to DYK articles. I worked on the article to address you concerns, adding references and providing more information about the groups presidents and membership. What do I do now?--Bellerophon5685 (talk) 18:14, 7 December 2015 (UTC)

Precious anniversary

polititians in Ecuador and the Netherlands
Thank you for quality biographies of politicians, such as Adèle van der Pluijm-Vrede and Ferry Hoogendijk, for Andries Jan Pieters and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, for covering Ecuadorian government ministers and the Netherlands' House of Representatives and Senators, for "If my work is not up to standards, please let me know!" - you are an awesome Wikipedian!
