@Drmies: Sorry, I don't understand. How did my marking of Mona, Anglesey for deletion appear to be a "test"? How was it "not how things go"? This is a serious question. I'm an administrator on cywiki, and I'm currently chasing up places in Wales that appear on enwiki but not on cywiki. I came across this article, which I found misleading because no such place exists. It serves no useful function and I think it should be removed. I was attempting to draw it to the attention of admins on enwiki. How should I have gone about this? --Craigysgafn (talk) 17:41, 5 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hey--well I said "test" because of the use of the template. It pointed to Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion and it's not obvious how that works for the hamlet. What would be appropriate here, I think, is PROD--see Wikipedia:Proposed deletion--and then you can use this template: {{subst:Proposed deletion|concern=reason for proposed deletion}}. This needs to "run" for seven days, so it's not speedy. Another step, or the next step if the PROD gets denied, is to follow the procedure in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Does that help? @Drmies: Thanks. That is helpful. We only seem to have the one Delete template over on cywiki, and I assumed "Delete" was the equivalent. Speed wasn't relevant. I'll check the documentation. --Craigysgafn (talk) 22:05, 5 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sure thing, and thanks for pinging me. You might be stepping into a hornet's nest here--there's been some discussion over the "inherent" notability of places, and where the line is drawn, and how the sourcing relates to that. There was a big, big discussion a couple of months ago, but I don't think I contributed to that--you might could try to look through the archives that pop up in WP:ANI (right side, next to the ToC), but much will depend on your search terms and I can't be of much use there. But yes, historically, there have been some issues with that...guess what, I found it: Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Archive332, look for the two threads with "Carlossuarez" in it. There's probably way more in there than you'd ever look for, but maybe some of these comments will help you one way or another. Take care, Drmies (talk) 15:25, 6 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
