Blackboys Cricket Club edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Blackboys Cricket Club, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.blackboyscc.co.uk. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 09:59, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Blackboys Cricket Club edit

A tag has been placed on Blackboys Cricket Club requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. – moonty (talk) (contribs) 10:00, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Blackboys Cricket Club edit

A tag has been placed on Blackboys Cricket Club requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ecoleetage (talk) 12:13, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Be careful of conflicts of interest edit

Hi, I want to welcome and encourage you to continue editing. I advise you to first read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, though. Since you're the secretary of the Blackboys Club, you leave yourself open to charges of conflict of interest if the article appears biased. It appears to me that the article as currently written shows no signs of bias, but this is still something you should be careful of when editing. I would also recommend that you check out Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, so that you can tailor your editing to meet the expectations of the Wikipedia community. Again, welcome!--Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 01:40, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Good job! edit

Cyril Hawker edit

On User talk:Bobo192, CorporalJones said:
I think you will find that Sir Cyril Hawker died at Etchingham, East Sussex. He was at Hadlow Lodge, Nursing Home. Sir Cyril was a former president of Blackboys Cricket Club and his wife Lady Hawker is still a patron, she still lives at Etchingham. Sir Cyril was also involved heavily with the setting up of the National Playing Fields Association. Can you verify as to whether (this) Sir Cyril Hawker was involved with the Bank of England and also with the M.C.C.

Hi there. I was merely working from the source which I was using to write the article (the same as the external link at the bottom) which claims he was born in Epping and died in Hastings. If you have any evidence to the contrary, please cite this in the article, While I can't personally verify that the same Cyril Hawker was with the Bank of England, I would be interested to see if this information was available somewhere — and seeing that you know more about this than I do, I wonder if you are able to tell me whereabouts to look for this information.

Thank you for contacting me, it's always interesting to me to see if accepted information is able to be challenged by evidence elsewhere. Bobo. 10:46, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I will check up on information regarding the Bank of England and Cyril Hawker, thank you for elaborating further. This is certainly an interesting story of the man in his later days - especially seeing that he was clearly only of minor distinction as a first-class cricketer. Are there any other former first-class cricketers who have some form of association with Blackboys, and as such are there any sources that we can cite this information through? It would be interesting to find out. Bobo. 12:18, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion nomination of Blackboys Cricket Club edit

I have nominated Blackboys Cricket Club, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Blackboys Cricket Club. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. StAnselm (talk) 08:36, 14 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

The file File:Blackboys 2nd v Rye III - 09-05-09.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 24 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
