This is my first attempt at contributing to Wikipedia. I have a LOT to learn.

Proposed deletion of Once:technologies edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Once:technologies, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

non notable company

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion nomination of Once:technologies edit

A tag has been placed on Once:technologies requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. — dαlus Contribs 05:55, 4 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Secondly, to answer your question I saw on admin's page, unless the material is strictly released under GFDL, it cannot be copied outright from the source. It doesn't matter if you know them. You could just be saying that, and we could still possibly get blamed. On wikipedia there is no possibles. The material is either released or it isn't, if it isn't released, we can't use it, period.— dαlus Contribs 06:00, 4 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

You must get tired of dealing with us Newbies. I am not sure whether to cover this under the company or the software. It is really once:radix that is important, but there is also interest in end-user applications. It seemed to make sense that I cover it under the general banner of the company name. They are not a big multi-national company but their software is groundbreaking and of great interest worldwide. Would it be better to rewrite it under the once:radix heading. I've read the advice to contributors but it will take time to get this right.Colslee (talk) 06:06, 4 July 2009 (UTC) /once:radixReply

You should have seen some of the messes I left here when I was new.  :) Not to worry; that's why we're here. The content appeared to be at once self-promotional, a copy of text from another source and based on your message, a possible conflict of interest. The copyright issue is very touchy here, but something in your own words citing third-party coverage in magazines, ther websites and the like is likely OK. Notability is important as well. To work on the project online but off the article space, click on User:Colslee/Once:technologies to create a subpage you can work on at your leisure. I hope this helps. Well hopefully this is a better result. I have done my best to justify the interest in the technology without making it sound like an ad for them. I was unable to upload images. I guess that can be done at a later stage. I look forward to receiving your comments. Colslee (talk) 04:27, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
