Gibson RfD notify

For some reason Twinkle isn't working for me so I'm doing everything manually. Anyways, an IP is insisting on pointing Gibson to the disambig so I've nominated it for discussion at RfD. Cheers, --JaGatalk 08:55, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Template:Countries of Western Asia‎

Hi there. Regarding this edit, while this isn't my doing, I thought the link to List of countries spanning more than one continent was a nice touch. Is there a real reason to avoid it? Best regards. --Muhandes (talk) 16:47, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

That link is no doubt useful in some contexts, but it has no relevance to this particular template. The one country in Western Asia that spans more than one continent is already listed in the template, and identified as such. Why would anyone want to be able to link from this template to a list of countries that span other continents? Colonies Chris (talk) 17:14, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
My line of thinking is that a reader seeing that Turkey spans more than one continent might be interested in knowing how common this phenomena is and what other examples may be. Try for yourself how many links such a reader will have to go through until he finds the appropriate article if it is not available on the spot. I know all about WP:OVERLINK - I probably removed a few thousands of those myself. Countries is a good example - the probability that a reader will actually want to visit that list when seeing the navbox is minute. But isn't the purpose of wikilinks to let a reader find relevant articles quickly? --Muhandes (talk) 18:10, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
The link is tangentially interesting, certainly, but not really relevant here though. And I've just tried typing 'countries in more than one continent' and 'countries in two continents' into the search box - in both cases the necessary list is the first one in the search results. So a reader who wants that info can pretty easily find it out. Colonies Chris (talk)
