Names for new articles

Hi Cocoruff. You may have noticed that I recently renamed two articles that you created:

• Barry Frank (Singer) --> Barry Frank
• Michael Torres boxer --> Michael Torres

The reason was that when creating a new article about a person, you only need add a disambiguation after the person's name (e.g. "(Singer)") if there is an existing article with that person's name. Also, something to note for the future: when disambiguation is required, convention is to use leading lower case and parentheses, e.g. "Joe Bloggs (singer)" and "Fred Nerk (boxer)". Regards. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. It appears that somebody falsely posted Paul Vogt's death on Wikipedia deaths. i was wrong to follow up on this. If so, it needs to be substantiated. It should be investigated as to who put the death notice up, if it is ultimately proven to be false.

An obituary is not a sufficient reference; there must be references showing notability during the subject's life, not just recentism due to his (unfortunate) passing. Redlinks

Hi, Cocoruff. I reverted your removal of redlinks in the J. D. Sumner article. Some redlinks are useful -- they notify readers about a notable topic which is in need of an article. (See WP:REDLINK for a good explanation.) In the case of the Sumner article, those were all notable subjects. Speedy deletion of Wellness in the Schools

Hello, I have nominated Wellness in the Schools for speedy deletion, because it looks like almost all of its content, word for word, comes from the official website and the CBS article. Wikipedia requires that its content not be copy-pasted from other websites (or paraphrased)—you should get the information from other websites (and cite them, as you have), but present the information in your own words (otherwise it would be plagiarism). Removing Speedy at Wellness in the Schools

Hi Cocoruff, you recently removed a deletion tag from Wellness in the Schools. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove speedy deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the tag. Although the deletion proposal may be incorrect, removing the tag is not the correct way for you to contest the deletion, even if you are more experienced than the nominator. Conflict of interest

I noticed that on this photo you uploaded, [1], you claim that you are Robert Brizel. I also noticed that you created and made nearly all edits to the page for Robert Brizel. Wikipedia strongly discourages editors writing autobiographies because "it is difficult to write a neutral, verifiable autobiography" and if a person is notable, someone else will make the article. See Wikipedia:Autobiography. Right now there are no reliable sources in the article. • Thanks for your email, I'll respond here. We have no evidence that your are the copyright owner of the website in question - as you will appreciate, it is easy for anyone to claim this, whether it is true or not. The notice above gives links to pages which explain how to prove that you are the copyright owner of the material, but basically there are two main ways:
  1. Change the "Copyright © 2000-2012 Saddo Boxing" tag to a suitably licensed tag (for example to the CC-by-SA 3.0 license. If you can change the website to show this, then this (1) shows that you are the owner of the website, and (2) shows that there is a suitable license which allows us to use the material. You might also want to change your disclaimer which states "3. Copyright [...] The copyright for any material created by saddoboxing.com is reserved. Any duplication or use of objects such as diagrams, sounds or texts in other electronic or printed publications is not permitted without written agreement from saddoboxing.com."
  2. Send an email to the address mentioned on one of the links above, from an email address at saddoboxing.com (saddo@saddoboxing.com) - this shows that you are the owner of the domain (a quick check will be made that the headers, etc, are actually from the saddoboxing.com domain, and that they have not been spoofed), and so have the right to grant Wikipedia the use of the copyrighted material.

Again, it is vital that the procedures in "Granting us permission to copy material already online are followed (basically the two options just mentioned).

  This would be considered original research. You write articles which you can use as references for wikipedia articles? That's not how Wikipedia works - you would appear not to run a website which would be counted as reliable or independent if what you write there is specifically for providing references for Wikipedia articles. You would be better off finding reliable sources which provide information, with which you have no connection.

  Without a lot of indepth searching of your contributions and that of other contributors to boxing articles, I cannot verify this information, and it is actually irrelevant to this discussion - the issue is a copyright one, which can be resolved in the short term by the methods outlined above.

  I'm afraid not. Wikipedia takes copyright violations seriously, and a "speedy deletion" nomination is just that - a nomination that an article be deleted in a speedy manner.

If you can provide the evidence that you are the copyright owner, an article can be re-created. There is no rush to do this - whether it happens this week, this month, this year, this decade is not important... if it should be created, it will be when it is suitable (this includes meeting notability criteria, etc, but we are discussing the copyright issues). The encyclopedia will be here for the foreseeable future, so we can wait to create the article!

I hope this explains our viewpoint more clearly. I must warn you, however, that if you recreate the article again without providing the required evidence of copyright ownership, the article will probably be deleted again and prevented from being recreated - you may also be blocked from editing as well, for that could be considered to be disruptive editing. Hi. After concerns were raised about paraphrasing in your content at the copyright problems board, I've had a look at and confirmed issues in the article Mike Levine (newspaper writer).

While facts are not copyrightable, creative elements of presentation – including both structure and language – are. For an example of close paraphrasing, consider the following example from the source:

He...left the Record in 2001 to accept a position as senior editor at ESPN the Magazine in New York City, where his worked helped the magazine earn the 2002 award for General Excellence by the American Society of Magazine Editors. The article said:

I've noticed you greatly contribute to boxing-related articles, so you might want to check out the boxer notability guideline. I got your email. It's not so much that the article needs to be slimmed down; it actually needs more added to it. It needs more sources that verify the majority of the info and establish his notability. Right now, it doesn't read like an article that meets inclusion criteria. Hi Robert. I noticed that you readded your name to the list of alumni at Fallsburg Central School District, which I have again removed. You keep trying to drop your name everywhere, including several attempts at creating an article about yourself over the last few years. It's coming across as self-promotion and you really need to stop. You've been doing great work on biographies and it's really appreciated, but you can't keep using Wikipedia as a vehicle for self-promotion. If one day you become notable by Wikipedia standards, I'm certain someone will create an article about you. Until that day, however, I suggest you give it a rest.
