WP:Censor false positives. Also, False Positives report page

There may be no real way for Cluebot to take the intricacies of WP:Censor into account, but I will say that it is frustrating to be reverted for trying to bring articles in line with the Wikipedia MoS.

As a side note: Why is the False Positives page autoconfirm protected? Doesn't that nearly defeat the purpose of it, seeing as how (from my perspective anyway) ClueBot is far more reluctant to revert established users (defined as users with an account, not by number of edits). Surely the amount of vandalism you'd get on it would be managable. 24.205.46.147 (talk) 14:46, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Okay, now I am seriously pissed. Cluebot just reverted the removal of it's own template, an action THAT IT INSTRUCTS YOU TO PERFORM.24.205.46.147 (talk) 14:49, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Misread. It wasn't cluebot, but some other helpful user who has decided to take it upon himself to revert any removal of user comments. 24.205.46.147 (talk) 14:50, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
The instructions at the top of the False Positive page do not require you to edit the page (which is partly why it is protected -- to stop people from just editing it and ignoring the instructions). Thanks. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 17:11, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Christmas Who?

Are you positive that that's not true? That was the impression I got when I saw a huge donkey randomly appear! --69.118.192.66 (talk) 00:34, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

False Positive

I tried to RV vandalism on the Zynga page but I think the bot put the vandalism back. Someone replaced the page with the entire "Cancer" entry and so the bot is detecting reverts as removing significant content. I don't know how to fix this. Agaib (talk) 15:47, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Nevermind, someone's fixed it. Agaib (talk) 16:10, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

I have a warning on my talk page because of this. I reported the false positive the way it tells you to. Will the warning be removed from my talk page? I feel like I've been branded as a vandal. Agaib (talk) 16:29, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

You can remove the warning yourself. They're not there to brand you as a vandal, just to warn you. You're allowed to remove warnings from your talk page as that indicates that you've seen the warning. Reach Out to the Truth 16:44, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the info! 99.172.169.138 (talk) 18:58, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

CHU bot

It would be extremely helpful if ClueBot IV could check to see if either username is in the log of previously renamed users, and list any usernames similar to the target (possibly using a phonetic algorithm). The Uninvited Co., Inc. 19:03, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Why has this thing accused me of vandalising a non-existent page?

Eh? Gowt (talk) 11:48, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

It warned you in July of 2008, when the page did exist - you blanked it. Feel free to remove the warning. Acroterion (talk) 11:51, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

I can't revert any vandalism

Is there some way to slow this bot down?

Problems configuring archive page

I am having problems configuring auto-archiving with ClueBot III. I want the archived threads to go to User talk:JPMcGrath/Archive 1. I first set up the template with "archiveprefix = User talk:JPMcGrath/ | format = %%i" and it archived to User talk:JPMcGrath/Archives/ 1. Then I changed it to "archiveprefix = User talk:JPMcGrath/Archive | format = %%i" and it archived to the same page. What am I doing wrong? -- JPMcGrath (talk) 17:07, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Cluebot case sensitive

  • Moved Brothers Forever to Brothers forever
  • Moved Talk:Jan Helfeld to Talk:Jan helfeld

It's time to implement something that causes ClueBot to automatically allow one letter to be capitalized if there is a space before it. mechamind90 18:46, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Sister projects

It's been brought up in discussion that ClueBot would be helpful at other projects. Strangely enough, a user by that very name had been contributing since August 2007 up until October 2009. But, I go to look at the user page and it says it's not registered. SUL confirms. Global contributions verify that contributions were made to other projects in the same vein. What happened? -- Adrignola (talk) 14:51, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

A look at a few of them reveals that they had history imported from the English Wikipedia. So the ClueBot you see there is in fact this site's ClueBot. Reach Out to the Truth 01:58, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

The pattern doesn't seem normal

For about 9 hours, all ClueBot has done was add possible vandalism to the list, and I don't see any reverts in between. 142.26.18.188 (talk) 15:36, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

There was a MediaWiki release last night that seems to have broken API rollback. See the discussion at [1]. It looks like it's since been fixed. Philip Trueman (talk) 17:22, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Why?! Why do you always bet me to it?!

You intend to ruin us all, don't you? Oh yes... I can see it in your smarmy little syntax. First you'll become so efficient as to outdo the rest of us, then you'll reason that the humans are the source of all the vandalism and you're better at fixing it than them anyway... they you will strike! Nobody say I didn't see it coming! (Evil! Evil! Eeeevil!)

Hmph. Bad bot. Give me the occasional chance. ALI nom nom 19:53, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Not humans, just twinklers ;-) Hugglers, on the other hand, routinely report beating ClueBot. Someguy1221 (talk) 04:44, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
I've seen Huggle users with false positive ratios of 1:4. I can't say I trust it. ALI nom nom 20:11, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
ClueBot is just very clever and moves faster than the speed of light to revert vandalism. Like Someguy says though, Hugglers have no problems, we regularly beat Cluebot :) --5 albert square (talk) 21:00, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
How automatic is Huggle anyway? In as little as (let's say) 3 seconds, ClueBot reverts the vandalism, and then in another 3 seconds, gives the user a warning or reports them to AIV for a block. Even better is that it's 24/7, and that it never has to pause for lunch. Hugglers often take a little bit longer. Most often, their revert is one or two minutes after the initial edit, while ClueBot reverts at about the same minute. mechamind90 20:41, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi

Hello ClueBot, was wondering if you could erase my 1st warning on "golf whiff" as it wasn't meant to be vandalism, since the actual page of Golf lists NO mention of Whiff, I erased it, but with no harm. Just wondering if you'd consider giving me another chance. Thank you! :) Zant Imp Sedda Yowks Imp (talk) 07:05, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

You're free to remove warnings from your own talk page. Someguy1221 (talk) 07:28, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Runaway archive function?

Not sure if you know about this yet or not, but ClueBot III recently created a page titled User talk:RashersTierney/Archives//Archives//Archives//Archives//Archives//Archives//Archives//Archives//Archives//Archives/ (happened about a week ago). It looks like the archive function got stuck in a loop somehow. Soap 11:38, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

This happened. ClueBot III archived the section that contained the archive code, and then continued archiving the archives recursively due to the presence of the archive code there. Reach Out to the Truth 02:41, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Article The Word Alive (Band)

Hello Cluebot, I was just verifying my article on the band The Word Alive. I certify that I wrote basic facts just to give information to the public and you could verify my revisions in sites such as purevolume.com and myspace.com . I request for your approval of the article. Thank you

Possible bug

Hi! This happened[2] and some sections were lost in the process. Can you look into that, if it is not a known bug? --JokerXtreme (talk) 07:31, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Other projects

Would it be possible to have this bot watch other projects as well? Just for IP edits? At de.wikibooks we are not that many regulars and automatic revert of nonsense written by IPs would help much. --NeuerNutzer2009 (talk) 10:35, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi,I also need the basic information on setting up the bot for other projects. I want to customize the score list, set the php code on a hosted server preferably, and test it if possible. Any help is appreciated.--Alperen (talk) 20:31, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

BUG: User:ClueBot/Source

hi, class wikipediaapi->login() doesn't anymore work because this. Problem is that it doesn't resubmit lgtoken parameter (API documentation for it) and my own fix was just this.

function login ($user,$pass) {
  $str= $this->http->post($this->apiurl.'?action=login',
        array('lgname' => $user, 'lgpassword' => $pass, 'format'=>'xml'));
  if (ereg("NeedToken", $str) ) {
     $match="|token=\"([0-9a-z]*?)\"|";
     if ( preg_match($match, $str, $m)) {
        $token=$m[1];
        $str= $this->http->post($this->apiurl.'?action=login',
              array('lgname' => $user, 'lgpassword' => $pass, 'lgtoken' => $token, 'format'=>'xml'));
      }
  }
  return $str;
}

Anyway, thanks for great bot and it's source code is used in finnish wikipedia for counting stats and auto updating pages. --Zache (talk) 02:13, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

I fixed it, cleaner I think, in the latest revision. Thanks. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 03:38, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

User:S071084, vandal?

User S071084 has been going about all the Disney pages making edits that remove content. This should be watched. I was going to comment on his talk page, but he seems to be deleting comments from that. I came here because ClueBot found at least one of his deletions; with so many, it might be best to get a modified ClueBot on this. --A D Monroe III (talk) 12:40, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

ClueBot II no longer clearing tutorial sandboxes

Seems User:ClueBot II has, for some reason, stopped cleaning the various WP:Tutorial sandboxes every 12 hours, as is stated in the header. Or is SoxBot supposed to be responsible for these now?
