Doppelganger Accounts edit

Hey Clockwork: I added a new template that has been created for pre-emptive "Doppelganger accounts" (take a look) to the Jimbo Wa"i"es doppelganger you created to prevent vandalism under Jimbo's name. TenOfAllTrades and I are working on a proposed policy for these accounts, and we've used this Doppelganger as an example because the potential "victim" (Jimbo) is so high profile. I hope you won't mind my presumptuousness. Essjay · talk 02:28, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)

Hi - I see you've made no edits since 21 May. If you're still about you might want to comment on an edit I made at Wikipedia talk:List of administrators about presumed inactive administrators. I hope to see you around. -- Rick Block (talk) 05:30, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)

about the welcome message edit

I hope you become active very soon. anyway... do you mind if I use the welcome message you posted on my talk page. I used it on few places replacing things with my name. It was well written so yeah. I hope you don't mind that I already used it about three times. let me know if you do mind though. WB 03:48, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)

Hello! I've noticed your interest in creating logos, barnstars, or your past artistic ability! Thus, I just wanted to let you know that the pre-round, an artistic competition, is now open at Wikipedia:Mind Benders (Shortcut: WP:MIND)! The competition is open to everyone and is seeking a logo/trophy, similar to Barnstars, to be placed on every winner's page. We urge you to help us out and submit an entry! Afterwards, the normal rounds, each consisting of ten or more fun, logical, brain-stimulating questions will open. Why don't you give it a try when it opens! Look forward to seeing your contribution. Thanks, Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 21:59, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Chinese characters & star names edit

Hi ClockworkSoul,

Your edits look good. I still think it would be worth mentioning that in Beijing dialect a hanzi doesn't necessarily represent a syllable, especially with the -r diminutive and in informal usage such as the character for library, since we mention such things for Japanese. (I'm not sure your comment "Each Chinese character is read as a single syllabic unit in all spoken variants of Chinese dialects still existing today" is entirely accurate.)

I appreciate your offer to check on the star names. The article has recently been divided up into the 88 constellations, but if you could look over the old version in the archives to make sure everything's kosher, that would be wonderful. (Caution: this archived page is extremely slow to load in my browser: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_stars_by_constellation&oldid=14460076 , so it may not be worth the effort on your part.)

I have stuck my nose, chin, and other parts into the AR controversy. The page is protected and we are editing a draft on a temp page. Just now I see that you asked two editors who requested mediation to "disengage" from editing. It appears that one heeded your request and the other didn't. So I've asked the one who did to come back and participate in the editing, in the hope that maybe we can get a version which is acceptable to all. I hope this is acceptable and I don't mean to interrupt an active mediation. Let me know if I should proceed differently or if you have any suggestions. You may reply using my email link if you prefer. Thanks, -Willmcw 21:12, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)

Template standardisation phase 2 edit

I've just started a brief framework idea about how to organise template standardisation for article templates. Since you were so instrumental in the success of the talk page template standardisation I thought you might have some good suggestions on how we can progress. I have a kind request. There is a problem on the Wikipedia Article For Sathya Sai Baba (SSB).

This article has links to both Pro and Anti SSB articles. However, my link is NOT being allowed. There was a section entitled "Rebuttals" that had only three links, including my site (SaiSathyaSai.com).

My site is the ONLY systematized site that specifically addresses (in my opinion) unsubstantiated and serious claims made on Anti-SSB sites. Since an entire section is devoted to Anti-SSB Sites, there should also be a Rebuttals section that provides information that happens to be 100% relevant to Sathya Sai Baba. Willmcw has gone to great extents to promote Anti-SSB sites and to remove sites that counter their claims. This is unfair and biased. It shouldn't be allowed. He removed the "Rebuttals" section without any open discussion. You can view the discussion here.

The current article for Sathya Sai Baba is, by no means, indicative of the majority opinion regarding SSB. The entire article is mottled with Anti-SSB remarks and links.

I believe that the Rebuttals section is relevant and the following three links should be reposted:

1) http://www.geocities.com/the_sai_critic/

2) http://www.saisathyasai.com/

3) http://www.saibaba-aclearview.com/

It is important to point out that NONE of the Pro-SSB links cited, provide any rebuttals to the Anti-SSB remarks and links. These three links are the ONLY ones that do.

Please tell me what I must do to have this situation resolved amicably and fairly.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Human Rights Servey on Wikipedia (The final post of I_sterbinski) edit

Dear all,
Wikipedia was recently a subject of intensive research of an huge international human right organization. A team of people from different nationalities and ages were acting on Wikipedia for 20 days, investigating previously noted anomalities of Wikipedia free editing and forming a final report, which (between the others similar reports) will later be a guide to all future moves of the organization concerning Wikipedia. Acting under an account of a real person, their privacy is to be held private. Therefore, very few private information will be revealed.
Also, this is a result of the lack of final possition of the organization concerning Wikipedia and human rights, which was still not formed.
The team's final post on Wikipedia, where they explain their actions can be found on the following addresses:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:I_sterbinski
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Macedonia#Human_Rights_Servey_on_Wikipedia_.28The_final_post_of_I_sterbinski.29
The team would like to thank to all the persons who took part in the correspondence with us.
We also want to appologise for keeping our identity secret for a longer period.
Best regards,

Hello, I'm sending this message out to all users listed as inactive at WP:MC. Some of you have been on leave for quite some time, and I'm hoping one or two of you may return to active (every active editor has a case assigned). I know some of you are busy with other wikimedia stuff, like Angela Anthere and Danny, and some of you are busy with academic stuff, like MacGyverMagic and ClockworkSoul. However I still want to leave this message in the hope of perhaps getting some more of you on hand. It's by no means mandatory though, so don't worry. -Acting Chair, Redwolf24 (talk) 01:57, 3 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Esperanza! edit

Welcome, ClockworkSoul/Archive9, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member, you might be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. A spam list is maintained by Redwolf24 to keep members up to date; you might want to consider adding your name to the list. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Essjay, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of myself, Flcelloguy, Ryan Norton, and Acetic Acid. The next set of elections will be at the end of the year, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact me via email or talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to be!
And may I add that I am glad to see your return completely in place. Good to see you around. Cheers, Bratschetalk | Esperanza 14:59, 19 November 2005 (UTC)Reply
