Jaejoong edit

Hello! Wikipedia is a free licence project, we can only use content that is compatible with the CC-BY-SA-3.0 licence. It means we cannot use copyrighted images. Usually most images you find with Google, on fansites, on official websites, forums, blogs etc. are copyrighted, unless the author (=the photographer) explicitely states that his/her photo can be used under CC-BY-SA. If no such declaration can be found for the photo, it means the photo is copyrighted and cannot be uploaded to Wikipedia. The English Wikipedia may use certain copyrighted images under the US fair use clause, which allows the use of the such images for certain puposes. For example, album covers may be used to illustrate the article of a music record. But for example it cannot be used to illustrate the article of Jaejoong, because he is a living person, and therefor we can assume there are possibilities to take free licence photos of him (for example at an event, at a concert, on the street, etc.).

In essence, when you want to upload photos to illustrate the article of living person, you need to look for photos that are licenced CC-BY or CC-BY-SA. (Photos licenced CC-BY-NC or CC-BY-ND are not good, because they don't permit commercial use and modifications). You can find such free licenced photos on Flickr, for example, where every photo has a copyright tag next to it, and if you see CC-BY or CC-BY-SA, those are OK. However, please be careful on Flickr and similar services because sometimes people who have no knowledge about copyright, upload non-free photos (from magazines, newspapers, official websites) under a free licence. Only take photos from Flickr, if you are sure that those are originally taken by the uploader (you can tell, if it looks like a magazin shot, or has a watermark on it, those are surely not free...).

Sometimes you may find good concert shots, but they are copyrighted. You may try to write to the photographer and ask him/her to release the photo under CC-BY-SA. You can find good sample letters here: Wikipedia:Example requests for permission. Recently for example we got permission from YG Entertainment to use some images of Bigbang. When we have permissions specifically for CC-BY-SA, it's OK, but it has to be in email, sent to permissions-commons[at]wikimedia.org.

I hope this helps. Thanks for your concern. You can already find some Jaejoong images that are OK to use in the article here: Commons:Category:Kim Jae-Joong. These can be used in the articles straight away, no need to upload them here. Kind regards Teemeah 편지 (letter) 20:15, 25 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
