A request edit

Hi, I'm from Hobart too - I've been trying to find decent council boundary maps for 5 years, and you seem to have some great ones. I was intending on printing a state-wide boundary map on transperant paper and overlaying it on a state map of the same scale. I'd like some advice on getting copies of your boundary maps, one way or another. My email is romeoskiss4u@msn.com - thanks.

Sorry edit

Just a nitpick edit

If it is "...although technically "allowed" by the policy, looked upon unfavourably." Why did i get a ban for doing it? Also can you please & others stop refering to them as "negative" becouse the ones that i removed that started the whole thing were not negative. Thank you. Feedyourfeet 08:13, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Consensus edit

Would you please show me where i can read the consensus, or will you stop abusing your position as an administrator? If you show me the consensus all i will do is start trying to get a new one (i wont edit during that period), however if you dont i afraid ill have to keep editing, even after you block the ip address currently used.

I am beginning to feel that there was no consensus. I have read through all of the discussions that i have been able to find on the subject. What it seems to me is that there were more people who had a lot of time on the redirect side of the argument, compared to the disambiguation side. From my reading i read points for and against both sides. It seems to be that the general consensus is towards a disambiguation page, although there may be more posts by the redirect side. Nobody has been able to give me the location of this consensus, even i can not locate it after an hour of searching through archives, and discussions on various articles. I dont mean to seem forceful but i would like the location of the consensus, if there is one. --144.139.223.135 05:54, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

The edits you made on Melbourne Victory, talk edit

If you want to edit post that you think is meant to be offensive to other members that's fine, but don't only edit one persons'. You left that thugby comment on there and only removed mine. If you keep this kind of behaviour up, I'll have you reported on vandalisim. --Sliat 1981 09:37, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Excuse me, yes you did. You took out mine but deliberately left the Thugby comment in because you think it's okay to insult rugby but not soccer. And I'm not threatening, I mean it. --Sliat 1981 07:09, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Excuse me but you had no right to edit that. It was between him and me not you. There have been much more worse things on other pages that have not been edited. A person has their right to their opinions and you are not allowed to intefeer or edit. --Sliat 1981 07:46, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Zazz edit

Thanks for your help with Zazz. Feedyourfeet 08:54, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I wrote this while the other person was closing the AFD, so I'll put it here.

  • Comment: Zazz may be big in Australia, but hasn't had as many articles written on it as Woot has. I still say adding a portion of the text into a section of Woot is good until it gets more pro writeups. Alternatively, you could create a One item per day article. I found [1] (I missed yesterday's item, can I still get one?) just by googling that. But unless there's sufficient articles on the various stores with this concept besides Woot, that article may go through the AfD process as well. TransUtopian 03:05, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Chug, I have copyed the Zazz article & will bring it back when another news, magazine mentions it so it people will see that "The company or corporation has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the company itself." Feedyourfeet 04:23, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

You could call/write to various magazines and newspapers too to suggest covering Zazz and its unique-in-Australia idea. And contact Zazz itself to see what periodicals you should call and how to sell the idea of writing a story about it. You can't promote within Wikipedia, but you can promote outside of it, and Zazz's (5-10?) employees would probably like to help. TransUtopian 20:27, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hobart vs. Hobart College edit

I only put the 'see also' up because I ended up on the Hobart page trying to find the college, and only searched Hobart. I really fail to see how putting up a link to help people find their way hurts anyone. Care to explain? Desertsky85451 00:50, 23 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

It is notable (after I go belly up and let em close it down sigh) (a) it was the first BOM waverider bouy in Australia in 1998 (b) it continues to be the main one they have as most other states have state depts owning and operating (c) it has broken moorings in Freak Wave or similar situations up to 20+ metre swells (d) it is the only one at that lattitude for South America to Tasmania (havent been able to work out whether the kiwis have any their met page is shifty on this stuff) to South America (e) I do not have technical knowledge to do climate of tas or waverider bouy, but seeing how wiki has no arts at all (the oceonography stuff i've checked so far for wave stuff is very poor) I will probably put it up again. As longhair said, when some smarty puts up an afd, all the chooks come out :) Got your rain yet? Best Wishes SatuSuro 06:49, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

ChuQ edit

Hey there Chuq doggy dog, sorry did not mean to be rude or troll. Sincerely disagree that Australian National football team should be the soccer team. For a hundred years up here, the Australian football team has been the Rugby League football team. In a practical sense almost Nobody calls soccer football in NSW. Do not know what it is like in Tassie though.

Stop trolling edit

Please do not place frivolous accusations of vandalism on an anonymous user's talk [[2]]. It is trolling and bad faith. If you wish to discuss the issues, please do, but leaving opinions on a talk page hardly constitutes vandalism. Whatda444 12:32, 29 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

A-League 2006-07 Newsletter I edit

Introduction
The first ever Wikiproject A-League newsletter is here! The 2006-07 A-League season will bring the usual enjoyment and fanaticism that only football/soccer can create. This new season also means a lot of (currently-open) tasks that require completion throughout the course of the next 21 weeks.
Position Ladder
A Position Ladder will be placed on each team page, which will provide an up-to-date visualization of the current A-League standings. However, problems may occur when Position Ladders aren't updated with the new statistics that don't involve matches of the team whose page the Position Ladder resides on. To remedy this, a base Position Ladder will be created, which will be located at {{2006-07 A-League Position Ladder}} (link). Please update this as soon as possible after the match has ended, as this will keep the Wikipedia community informed.

A few notes regarding the base Position Ladder:-

  • Please do not substitute the Position Ladder template on the team pages, as it won’t get automatically updated if you do.
  • Please only update the Position Ladder at the end of a match, and if there is any large dispute about the result, do not add it, but instead wait for an official report by the A-League confirming the result.
  • When updating, make sure to adjust all of the below fields:-
    • The played field – add one (eg. 13→14 etc.)
    • Either the win, loss or draw field, depending on the result for that team.
    • The points field – either add 3 points (win), 1 point (draw) or leave the same (loss)
    • The for and the against section
    • Make sure you repeat this process for both teams – not just the team you follow!
Summary Tables
Each team page will have a Summary Table added to it, which will provide an at-a-glance look at the results of the team throughout the season. We ask that, at every chance you get, you fill in the results of these Summary Tables – it only takes a few seconds, but it will help keep the uninformed "in the loop" – it is an encyclopedia we’re writing, after all.

As with the Position Ladders, a few notes about the Summary Tables:-

  • Please place the winner in bold text (using '''winning team''').
  • With the crowd figures, please only place a comma if the attendance is over 10,000 people (eg. use 8648 instead of 8,468 and 11,482 instead of 11482).

A-League Newsletter II, 2006 edit

WikiProject A-League Newsletter
Issue II – September 2006
Current Player project status
10% complete
A-League News

Project News
  • The Player project has been moved, overhauled and refined. It now is not limited to the 2005-06 player list. However, only 10% of articles are considered "complete", and hopefully we can get this figure to approach 100% by the end of the season.
  • Major changes to the layout of the 2006-07 A-League season page have taken place recently, and an infobox created. A table for attendances, as well as top scorer etc. are now in place. All users are encouraged to update the scores for completed matches as they come in.
  • Recently, Perth Glory F.C. was moved to Perth Glory FC after no objections were raised at the Wikiproject talk page. All links to the old page (including various templates) were changed.
  • The project requires pictures of games and stadiums to help improve articles. Any pictures are much appreciated.
  • The A-League Portal has been set up. Feel free to update the scores, and make sure you check out the selected article and picture each fortnight.
  • The football (soccer) barnstar has recently became the official award of the Wikiproject. Feel free to hand it out to anyone you see making excellent contributions to all things A-League related.

Not sure i understand edit

Hey im not sure what you mean about "it is best to have them as bold" with regards to not linking back to the original article. My intentions are as follows, i want to include the indiviudal artists in various Categories to which they relate, so having them there but currently redirected (until some nice person comes along and creates them properly) gives me that oppurtunity. Im all about categories at the moment!

Edit Ok now i understand what you've done, how about i keep the main article ones bolded but leave the infobox ones there, it just saves someone having to update it later when the articles are filled in.

Alright, ill try to keep it that way.

Scotch/Scots? edit

Alright Chuq. Sorry Scotch is something you imbibe and if you're like me, rather a lot of it. It is also a derogatory term used by people of Anglo-Saxon descent to describe people living north of the Tweed-Solway line. 'Scots' is the correct form when describing people or achievements of the Scots nation, and 'Scottish' is used when talking in abstraction. Whosoever started that Scotch College disambiguation page was wrong, not a saint and a scholar...and presumably a Sassenach. ;-)

Australian Antrarctic Territory edit

Re. edits 83102385 and 83101670 to Australian Antarctic Territory: I am NOT Felix Portier, and those two edits are in keeping with the concerns noted on the article Talk page. I don't think using the Ross Dependency infobox is such a good idea.

  • There is no office by the name of "Governor of the AAT". However:
  • I can understand the inclusion of the term "Governor" when it is used in the "small-g" sense, just as a generic term. However this may be misleading. A more factually correct solution would be to state "Governor-General of Australia", or to skip the Head-Man bit.

It'd be good to keep in mind WP:V. I have Talk:Australian Antarctic Territory in my bookmarks, so it would be good if the conversation continuted there.
