Notability of Ryan Chimzar edit

A tag has been placed on Ryan Chimzar, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Anthony Rupert 13:55, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Trying to help edit

Trying to help... I'm afraid that under WP:CRYSTAL, he's probably not notable until the CD is released. Even then, he may still be not notable. Have you read WP:BAND? --Dweller 15:22, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

As a newbie, I'm cutting you a lot of slack. We normally expect articles to demonstrate notability pretty much as soon as they are posted. You've been editing for 2 hours and I still see no evidence of this person passing WP:BAND. I or another admin will lose patience and delete it pretty soon unless you quickly demonstrate notability. --Dweller 15:48, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sadly, User:Veinor deleted it. If you're convinced it will (when complete) pass WP:BAND, let me know and I'll create it for you in your "user space", where you'll have more time to work it up. --Dweller 16:04, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Choirs of Note edit

A tag has been placed on Choirs of Note, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

A7: No indication of importance/significance.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

Sorry, I am not aware of a template for competitions. You really need to update the talk page to give an explanation for the {{hangon}} tag before the article goes bye-bye. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 16:17, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure why you blanked it, but it's up for deletion again. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 16:33, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
This article needs substantial coverage in reliable sources. The only indepentant coverage I could find was meniton in [1]. That isn't going to cover notability by itself... - Mdsummermsw (talk) 17:26, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
In my opinion (for what it's worth), the three articles involved here are too shakey to save all at once. I would suggest copying any text you want to save to a subpage of your user page and working on them one at a time. I'd suggest shoring up either Dale Warland or Dale Warland Singers first, get a few second opinions on it, then put it up. A strong article on the individual (or the choir) lends unofficial* support to an article on the choir (or the individual). (*No guarantee here. Notability is not "inherited".)
Once those two are up, the "Choirs of Note" article is a bit more likely to fly.
Mdsummermsw (talk) 18:40, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dale Warland Singers now looks pretty solid (though it needs a lot of cleanup and better cites). I've added a bit on their awards. I've also written a new (non-copyvio) Dale Warland article, asserting notability (weakly) via the Singers. I'm not 100% on independant notability for him, but it's not like some of the absurd garbage that pops up when someone writes about their boyfriend or 5th grade gym teacher. Choirs of Note, though, currently looks like a bit of a lost cause. At best, a few mentions could be worked into the Dale Warland article (should it survive). Otherwise, I think this article is a goner. Maybe someone can save it, but I can't find anything to do the job. Mdsummermsw (talk) 20:56, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Copyright problem edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page. --71.102.80.39 (talk) 17:10, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Copyright violation in Dale Warland edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Dale Warland, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Dale Warland is unquestionably copyright infringement, and no assertion of permission has been made.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Dale Warland, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. AfD nomination of Choirs of Note edit

An article that you have been involved in editing, Choirs of Note, has been listed for deletion. If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Choirs of Note. Thank you. Matchups (talk) 23:46, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

There are a couple of mentions on the AFD page of potential reliable sources. It would help your cause to actually insert those into the article itself. Also, you should only !vote once--there are two "Keeps" with your username. You might change the second one to a comment or move it under the previous paragraph and remove the vote entirely. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Con08 lg.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Con08 lg.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
