converter rounding edit

i reverted your changes. since none of the measurements are really exact, it's better to let the converter apply its standard rounding algorithm to each. cheers. --emerson7 21:10, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Inflation edit

I popped a ref that I hope satisfies. Its a book so I thought I'd give you a link to the part in question here. --LiamE (talk) 03:29, 23 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Bah I cant get it to link to chap 17... use that link above and navigate to chap 17 if you would. --LiamE (talk) 03:32, 23 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

My reading of the chapter is that inflation was pulled together into a consistent theory by Guth based on work by in chronological order - Zel'dovich, Linde, Bludman & Ruderman, Starobinsky, Brown & Stecker, Kazanas and Sato. As ever no scientist works in a vacuum Guth does indeed use older basis for his work from Newton, through Poincare, Lorentz and Einstein to de Sitter and others, but as far as I know the actual issues of inflation were first raised by Zel'dovich in 1968, although not under that name and not as a fully fledged theory. I would agree that that source isnt ideal to make that distinction 100% clear so a better source should be sought, but I do think it is sufficient until better is found. Of course if any contradictory source is found we would need to revisit this. --LiamE (talk) 20:35, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well the cite is as much for Guth as it was Zel'dovich hence I put it at the end of the sentence not after the claim about Zel'dovich and I think we can agree that it is clear about Guth thus it should be left it for that alone and a better source found for the Zel'dovich claim. --LiamE (talk) 01:17, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

A note about converting and rounding numbers edit

Hello! You correctly observed that the rounding used in Maersk Triple E class was not good. However, instead of removing the {{convert}} template, it is better to keep the template but specify the precision. In most cases you do this by adding '0' as an unnamed third or fourth parameter. So to fix other problems like this, all you need to do is change

{{convert|400|m|abbr=on}}

to

{{convert|400|m|abbr=on|0}}

Seawise Giant edit

Hi Chasrob, I just read the sources of the article and found your change of 2010[1] which is still (more or less) part of the current version. Are you sure this is/was right? The source (still available) doesn't give this information. "Oppama" is the name of the Shipyard of S.H.I. and they have christened the ship with this name? Sorry for digging in the past. :) --mirer (talk) 14:02, 13 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

After some more digging I found a new source.[2] Sorry for not searching 10 minutes longer before asking here. ;) --mirer (talk) 14:11, 13 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
