Re: Safari edit
The Zoological Center Tel Aviv-Ramat Gan (which includes both a safari park and a regular zoo) is special because it is also known as Safari in Hebrew, in other words, Safari is one of its names. By contrast, for example, is Longleat, which no one would call just 'Safari'. Smith edit
I think the "bookshop" would be descriptive enough to disambiguate W H Smith from other Smiths that someone might be looking for, without "chic" (or "high street", for that matter). -- JHunterJ 02:57, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Oxford Dictionary of English move edit
Hi, I see you were correct to move the article to the new location Oxford Dictionary of English. How did you do it? It appears that the history has not been copied over, so could it be possible that the page existed already, and you copied and pasted? I just find it difficult to check the history now. x86-64 edit

Wouldn't that be the other way around — "there are motherboards for 64-bit Athlons which can use 32-bit ones."? Maybe I was trying to be too concise, but the point remains: if you don't design for 64-bit from the beginning you cannot get there later.--Charles Gaudette 16:27, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well no, there were 32-bit processors for Socket 754, so someone could design a 32-bit system with a 754 motherboard and later stick in an athlon 64 model. After Socket A was discontinued, people designing 32-bit sempron systems would use socket 754, for example. I guess it's more of a corner case than I originally thought, but is the sentence necessary anyway? At this point, I think someone would really have to go out of their way to find a non-64-bit-capable AMD socket. Kundor 08:47, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Regarding your recent edit to Safari, if you have a better understanding of the Arabic source, that is great, but the New Oxford American Dictionary — the cited reference — definitely has "to travel" as the Arabic meaning. - Yes, the Arabic safara is (to) travel (as the entry says). The Swahili safari is journey (noun), not (verb) to travel; and the English safari is (noun) journey/trip to see wild animals. As to a reference, the one given is fine for the Arabic I think. As to the Swahili, I could look it up, but it is an everyday word ... Robert Ullmann 23:00, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

ArbCom 2017 election voter message edit
Hello, Charles Gaudette. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
