Page move requested

To any one in the know: Ernest Berry Webber, which I have been working in for the past few days, carries the rather cumbersome "Ernest Berry Webber (architect)" title, which to me seems rather pointless as he is the only Ernest Berry Webber we have. I've tried to move the page, but I can't. Can someone who possesses these magical powers please move the page, and I'll do all the necessary admin, should there be any. Many thanks. CassiantoTalk 09:22, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

Done. The reason you couldn't move it is that there was already a history at Ernest Berry Webber, so the page needed to be deleted to make way for the move (nothing of any significance was lost in the deletion). ‑ Iridescent 09:26, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
Thank you Iridescent. CassiantoTalk 09:29, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

FYI

Hello Cass. I hope you are well. Thanks for this. I think you meant decent unless you are writing about an article that is being pulled earthward by gravity :-) Stay safe. MarnetteD|Talk 19:10, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

Haha, nice spot! Now fixed. All good here, thanks, you? I just cannot understand why some people spend the amount of time that they do fussing about profanities and who said what and how offended they are at having read it, blah blah blah... it's simply too weary for words when all the time we have millions of articles in desperate need of improvement. CassiantoTalk 19:26, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
I'm hanging in there Cass. My large collection of films and TV series is finally paying off as they are keeping me nice and busy. The Hidden Fortress is on tonight's schedule. FYI (again) I recently bought this set of Karel Zeman's films. They are remarkable and a ton o' fun. They might be available for streaming if you are interested. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 21:37, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
That's good to hear. Well, if Three Fantastic Journeys on the link you provide looks as good as its cover, you'll be in for a real treat. CassiantoTalk 17:49, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

Reverts - please justify

Why are you reverting recent edits I made to several articles, including: Elijah V. Brookshire, Sylvia Kristel, Ronald Karel, University of Warsaw, Dan Bilefsky? The edits that you reverted are in accordance with accepted Wikipedia guidelines, and are almost always referenced in the change description. Would you please note that I am a long-time Wikipedia editor with over 29000 contributions. The Wikipedia community would greatly appreciate it if you would cite Wikipedia guidelines and policies that support your reverts. Truthanado (talk) 17:16, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

Because the information you are adding is all unsourced. Idiotboxes are not exempt from the rules. Please see the relevant guidelines; being someone of such vintage, I'm sure you'll be able to find them. By the way, how's that ArbCom case coming along? Would you let me know when you post there and I'll call some mates round for some beer and popcorn. CassiantoTalk 17:52, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
"The Wikipedia community"? It's a big claim that you represent over 38 million users! - SchroCat (talk) 17:37, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Ernest Berry Webber

Hello! Your submission of Ernest Berry Webber at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Yoninah (talk) 19:45, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

GA reviewing

Cassianto, I gather from an entry on WP:Great Dismal Swamp that an article I am interested in might profit from your GA reviewing, BWV 227, tough case, just failed, but then the reviewer made improvements. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:16, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

Sure, why not. I've only ever done one review, so I'm rusty in terms of knowing how to do the technical stuff. CassiantoTalk
I never do them, because I just can't judge English prose, so am no help. The last good ones I received were both from Reaper Eternal, perhaps look at them for inspiration, Clara Schumann and Jessye Norman, both not essentially written by me, just improved in veneration of the subjects. Both were tough to review, I bet, - a simple composition should be easier, actually. Going to deal with another great woman now, Inge Borkh. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:32, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Talk:Clara Schumann/GA1: what I like is the top list of the criteria, and below a dialogue where I could respond to each point, and back and forth until resolved, point by point. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:36, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
I looked only now at the Charlie Chaplin review, and without looking elsewhere, just proceed that way if your time permits. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:02, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

Just sayin'....

There are things you and I have disagreed on, but I will not hesitate to give credit where credit is due, specifically your excellent writing skills, your ability as a GA reviewer, and because you respect the GA process. The discussion at AN/I was already closed so that's why I had to post it here. It will not hurt my feelings if you choose to delete it from your page because, if my memory serves, you banned me from your TP, I'm not sure why, but it was so long ago it doesn't matter. Atsme Talk 📧 23:49, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

That's very kind of you and I appreciate you coming here to say it. As linked above, I've only ever reviewed one article for GA, so I'm a novice when it comes to reviewing them. That was nominated by two wonderful editors who I don't much hear from now, which is sad. There are much better writers than me around here, from whom I've learned a lot. The articles I write wouldn't be what they are now without them receiving the kind of attention that these people have invested. I am only able to write the way I do now because of learning from others and having a a skin thick enough (despite this being said only today...by an actual admin) to be able to receive blunt and critical advice without getting upset or taking things personally.
We all need a push from others, F. Scott Fitzgerald being a case in point; here we have a crap article with a willing editor who has been lulled under the false sense of security that the article they are nominating is "good" by a reviewer who's only passed it so they can claim a fake prize. That's not right. Nobody has ever dealt with this problem. Because of this, sadly, GA has become a farce and really rather irrelevant, which is a shame for those who take it seriously. It is certainly something that needs to be addressed; at ANI, Vanamonde93 said that they were going to pay attention to the Fitzgerald reviewer, so here's hoping this fraudulent activity can be addressed. I can't think why I banned you either - lets not dwell on it, I'm happy to forgive and forget, if you are too. CassiantoTalk 06:59, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
Y Thank you. I encourage you to become more involved as a reviewer. I do what I can to maintain the integrity of the process but as you’ve noted, more needs to be done. Happy editing! Atsme Talk 📧 09:42, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
