December 2020 edit

Hi so I would like to discuss about The Ready Set Wikipedia page. I would like to know why you got rid of some of the chart positions? Jordantrsonlychild (talk) 00:38, 19 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

JordantrsonlychildWP:CHARTMATH. The Bubbling Under Hot 100 is an extension of the Hot 100 chart. They should never be used simultaneously together, as the Hot 100 position is always the higher of the two. The New Zealand column was removed because the one source being used to back it up is a dead link with no date or access date, which leads me to believe it could be fake. Carbrera (talk) 00:48, 19 December 2020 (UTC).Reply

Thank you for getting back to me. I appreciate you for letting me know how the Bubbling Under Hot 100 and the Hot 100 charts work. As for the New Zealand charts, I found a reliable source that shows the song Give Me Your Hand charted in New Zealand. It’s from the official New Zealand Top 40 charts. Take a look: https://nztop40.co.nz/chart/singles?chart=2152 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jordantrsonlychild (talkcontribs) 00:56, 19 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your GA nomination of Brief Moment (song) edit

The article Brief Moment (song) you nominated as a good article has passed  ; see Talk:Brief Moment (song) for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Kyle Peake – sure. Several years ago I was very active in that but I've taken a pretty long break from it. I'll need some time before completing one. Carbrera (talk) 19:05, 20 December 2020 (UTC).Reply

December 26, 2020 edit

I would like to know how https://acharts.co/song/67633 is an unreliable source. Is there any proof that it is? I just want to know. Thank you Jordantrsonlychild (talk) 22:12, 26 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Jordantrsonlychild – aCharts is listed at WP:BADCHARTS as a "non-notable chart with dubious methodology" per this discussion. Carbrera (talk) 22:15, 26 December 2020 (UTC).Reply

Why is it though? And what does it mean exactly? Jordantrsonlychild (talk) 22:16, 26 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Jordantrsonlychild – it means aCharts likely obtains their information through their own means and not through official sources. aCharts is not the official chart archive for Portugal, but rather portuguesecharts.com. The official profile for "Music Sounds Better with You" is posted here, which reveals the song did not enter the charts in that country. Carbrera (talk) 22:22, 26 December 2020 (UTC).Reply

Alright I didn’t know that thanks Jordantrsonlychild (talk) 22:24, 26 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

EarOne a chart? edit

Alright, since you seem to believe EarOne is a chart, you need to open a discussion on WP:CHARTS on why you believe it’s appropriate to include. If you can’t do this then I would recommend stop adding it as a chart on Let Me Reintroduce Myself because you either have to follow “FIMI” or “Hung Meiden” which are listed on WP:GOODCHARTS. EarOne is just a radio station in Italy, not an actual chart company. This is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone try to include EarOne in a chart section of any song. Pillowdelight (talk) 01:28, 2 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Pillowdelight – I found the tone of your message to be rather rude and I do not appreciate it. EarOne is not a chart, nor is it a radio station. They are a company that publishes radio adds obtained from official sources (Parlophone, Universal Music Group, Warner) for 189 Italian-language airplay channels in the country. Just because you have not seen something before does not mean it is incorrect. Carbrera (talk) 01:50, 2 January 2021 (UTC).Reply
@Carbrera: My “tone” was not rude at all. I’m informing you need to open a discussion on why you believe it is appropriate to include this as a chart, I don’t care if EarOne is not a radio station, they run many stations in Italy. It also has never been proven that labels send out their songs specifically to Italy— with no announcement from the artist or label whatsoever. For all we know they could easily be an unreliable source. Just my opinion. It should also be common sense that EarOne isn’t even a chart company— which you seemingly admitted— so if it’s not a chart company then stop adding it.

Pillowdelight (talk) 02:35, 2 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Pillowdelight – If you feel my inclusion of this information is inappropriate, then it would be best for you to take it up with WP:CHARTS like you initially suggested. I, under no current Wikipedia policy, have to do this to prove one of my good-faith edits on an article that I edit. It seems that others have agreed with my edit too. Your condescension is not welcome on my talk page. Carbrera (talk) 02:51, 2 January 2021 (UTC).Reply

Harajuku Girls (song) edit

Hey, I don't want to sound patronizing, but I know how it feels when things don't work out your way. I admit some of my edits came off as impatient and rushed. I however hope that you know I assume good faith, as I (personally) don't see the need to create articles for songs that do not receive much independent coverage (To think, there are quite a few articles about non-notable songs out there). I appreciate your efforts with Gwen Stefani-related articles, and hope that you won't be dissuaded by the AFD this time. (talk) 23:38, 16 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

– thank you for the follow-up message. I truly believe you assume good faith in your contributions, and your editing history speaks for itself. I am not upset or harbor any hard feelings toward you. Personally, I rarely engage in AfD discussions and usually just manually redirect obvious cases of articles with notability concerns myself. Sometimes I disagree with the outcomes of AfD, but I won't lose any sleep over it. Carbrera (talk) 21:07, 17 January 2021 (UTC).Reply

Long Way to Go (Gwen Stefani and André 3000 song) edit

Hello again. I hope you are doing well and staying safe. I was wondering if it would be okay for me to work on the "Long Way to Go" (Gwen Stefani and André 3000 song) article? I did the GAN review for it all the way back in 2016, but I would like improve it further and incorporate new sources that came out with the album's 15th anniversary. I did not want to make any changes without your permission though first as you are the primary contributor to the article (and a majority if not all of the Gwen Stefani articles). On a somewhat related note, I am excited for Stefani's upcoming album, particularly if she continues with the ska direction again. Aoba47 (talk) 20:45, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • I have already started to collect sources in my sandbox. I am little concerned that the article may not met WP:NSONG since almost all of the coverage on the song is restricted to album reviews. That being said though, I'd still like to try and improve the article if possible. Aoba47 (talk) 21:23, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Aoba47 – of course, you may. I highly value your contributions to Wikipedia and would never expect you to ask permission from me in editing! I have plans to revisit some of my older good articles and make major edits if necessary, since I am now much more knowledgeable about site policies and MoS guidelines than I was five years ago. With that being said, that will definitely require a lengthy span of time from me to complete. And yes, I am quite excited for the next album too. I've been craving new music outside of Shelton features and Christmas songs. Reportedly the next single is called "Cry Happy", but nothing has been confirmed yet. Carbrera (talk) 22:30, 10 February 2021 (UTC).Reply
  • Thank you for the response. I have learned a lot over the years about Wikipedia so you are not alone there. I have already started collecting sources in my sandbox. I chose this particular song as it is such an oddball on the album lol. "Cry Happy" seems like a promising song title. I'd be interested to see when she would drop more music. Btw, Kelly Clarkson did a cover of "Misery" on her talk show if you haven't already seen it lol. Aoba47 (talk) 00:07, 11 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Long Way to Go (Gwen Stefani and André 3000 song) follow-up edit

Hello again. Sorry for the repeat message for this article. I have decided to not work on it, but if you ever need the sources that I found, then please let me know. I was able to track down articles on Newspapers.com and I am pretty confident that I have gathered all the appropriate sources on this song. I am just a little uncertain about the notability as it seems to be in the gray area where the sample has gotten some coverage, but I am not sure if it really reaches significant coverage. Just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to work on the article yourself as you can use the sources I found. Apologies in advance for how I structured the citations as I am trying out a different style. Aoba47 (talk) 18:26, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

WikiCup 2021 March newsletter edit

Round 1 of the competition has finished; it was a high-scoring round with 21 contestants scoring more than 100 points. Everyone with a positive score moves on to Round 2, with 55 contestants qualifying. You will need to finish among the top thirty-two contestants in Round 2 if you are to qualify for Round 3. Our top scorers in Round 1 were:

  •   Epicgenius led the field with a featured article, nine good articles and an assortment of other submissions, specialising on buildings and locations in New York, for a total of 945 points.
  •   Bloom6132 was close behind with 896 points, largely gained from 71 "In the news" items, mostly recent deaths.
  •   ImaginesTigers, who has been editing Wikipedia for less than a year, was in third place with 711 points, much helped by bringing League of Legends to featured article status, exemplifying how bonus points can boost a contestant's score.
  •   Amakuru came next with 708 points, Kigali being another featured article that scored maximum bonus points.
  •   Ktin, new to the WikiCup, was in fifth place with 523 points, garnered from 15 DYKs and 34 "In the news" items.
  •   The Rambling Man scored 511 points, many from featured article candidate reviews and from football related DYKs.
  •   Gog the Mild, last year's runner-up, came next with 498 points, from a featured article and numerous featured article candidate reviews.
  •   Hog Farm, at 452, scored for a featured article, four good articles and a number of reviews.
  •   Le Panini, another newcomer to the WikiCup, scored 438 for a featured article and three good articles.
  •   Lee Vilenski, last year's champion, scored 332 points, from a featured article and various other sport-related topics.

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start again from scratch. In Round 1, contestants achieved eight featured articles, three featured lists and one featured picture, as well as around two hundred DYKs and twenty-seven ITNs. They completed 97 good article reviews, nearly double the 52 good articles they claimed. Contestants also claimed for 135 featured article and featured list candidate reviews. There is no longer a requirement to mention your WikiCup participation when undertaking these reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or something else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Sturmvogel 66 (talk) and Cwmhiraeth (talk). Fake Woke reference deletion and revert edit

At Fake Woke, what reason is there for having the content below repeated five times within a reference?

  • "Fake Woke – Single – Tom MacDonald". Apple Music (CA). Retrieved 3 February 2021.

It adds no value to the reference. David notMD (talk) 14:33, 2 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

David notMD – It's not the same reference. Five different territories are listed to support the claims of the "Various" row in the "Release history" section. Not all singles are released internationally, and some Apple Music releases are territory-exclusive. When you edited the page, you removed all 5 references and only left the descriptive text without an explanation, so I reverted it. Carbrera (talk) 14:57, 2 March 2021 (UTC).Reply

Anonymous Mamad – hello, but I am not sure I understand what you want me to review in this article. If you are asking about its notability, I would have to say I may not be the best person to ask. I am afraid I have not heard of Hooshyar Khayam before, but that does not mean the subject is not notable. I wish I could be of more help. Best, Carbrera (talk) 04:31, 16 March 2021 (UTC).Reply

Hello edit

Hey there, I hope you are doing well. I believe we do not have bad blood even though I got strong opinions on previous AFDs, which, while stemmed from my good faith, came off as rather pushy and aggressive. This is to clear things up that my intentions were by no means malicious, and my experiences with AFDs certainly helped me recognize certain things.

On another note, I wonder if you remember me asking for your experience in architecture some time in the past. Given that SNS may be rather risky, do you mind if I contact you via Wikipedia email? Nothing serious, just some Q&As about architecture in general. Hope you are staying healthy and safe during these uncertain times. Best, (talk) 04:28, 14 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

– Hello. I hope all is well with you too. I just think we're both, seemingly, very passionate people who care a lot about Wikipedia. I do mind at all, and I would be quite happy to help. I'm actually entering graduate school this fall and really need to start transitioning back to that part of my life. I have recently updated my email on here anyway so feel free to get in contact when you have a chance. Best wishes, Carbrera (talk) 16:03, 14 March 2021 (UTC).Reply

Hello again. I just wanted to say congrats about getting a DYK hook for this article. I have not participated in the DYK space in a very long time so it was a welcome surprise to see this article linked on the front page. It made me wonder if there would ever be a music video for this song or how the album roll-out will continue in the future. Aoba47 (talk) 04:03, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Aoba47. Personally, I feel like a video will be made, but I am unsure about how the album will premiere. Honestly, since only one source has listed Let Me Reintroduce Myself as the album's name, I am a bit skeptical if that is truly the real title too. Carbrera (talk) 21:50, 3 April 2021 (UTC).Reply
  • I agree that a video will likely be made, but I think it is a little odd that one has not been released already to help the song commercially. I do not think there has been any real news about the album's release, and I doubt that the album would be named after the single, but you never know. I am skeptical about that as well.
