Please remain civil

In reviewing your recent contributions to Durin's RfC I am finding what I perceive to be a disturbing pattern of apparent incivility in your word choices in edit summaries and the comments themselves. Lar, don't take this personally but I doubt your objectivity

I apologized immediately upon cooling off from that incident.

However, the speed with which you rushed in here to chastise me looks more like "circling of the wagons" than proper administration, especially since Durin posted an incendiary message, and then redacted it, at approximately the same time that you posted the above.

This causes me to feel that you should put an effort into making your administrative efforts look less clubbish. You may view this observation as "uncivil." You may wish to pursue steps to block me for this "uncivility." You may wish to recruit a "big brother" to do more "wagon-circling."

If this is truly the way the Wiki is to be run, with your objective judgement of my "incivility" deemed a proper means to quell criticim of an admin who literally boasts of having edited some 800 user spaces [do we not care about the "user experience" at all?], then I need to be blocked at the first opportunity. I think my warning was appropriate, as I saw things you said after the apology that I think were still over the line in my judgement (and it's a call not an algorithm). I am going to ignore the charges of clubbisheness, wagon circling and the like as I have no interest in a debate. What's the problem?

You said "But, reading the above, it strikes me as very strange that John Smith opened this section of discussion asking "which category do you want, 'massacre' or genocide'" -- seeming to be neutral in the matter -- but was very soon passionately arguing his point that Nanjing was not genocide." on the Nanking talk page. I've had a lot of "good faith" sucked out of me recently, so I got a bit stressed on the talk page. Sorry about that. Unspecified source for Image:SiraaFil-Wadi.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:SiraaFil-Wadi.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Billy Sunday

Actually, a great many non-evangelicals under 80 know Billy Sunday's name but don't know the song. (Personally, I'm not a Sinatra fan.) During his lifetime he was well known by non-evangelicals too. In 1914 the popular magazine "American Magazine" took a poll on "Who is the greatest man in the United States?" Billy Sunday placed 8th, tied with Andrew Carnegie. In the Midwest, where Sunday lived, there are still Sunday impersonaters drawing appreciative audiences.

Anyway, although Sunday was out with his teammates and some players from another team on the afternoon when he heard the "gospel wagon" and "bid this life good-bye," he was not himself ever a heavy drinker, and the chances are good that he was reasonably sober that day. He had been a temperance preacher from his earliest days as a minister (including on the streets of Chicago as a street minister for the Chicago YMCA). Finding salvation by accepting Christ was Sunday's main message; but his next message, throughout his career, was fighting demon rum. He did indeed try to shut down the "booze crowd" in Chicago, and in New York too, but obviously he did not succeed. Still, many, if not most, historians cite Sunday as being very influential in winning over public opinion to support Prohibition. Because I can't resist, I'll give you an example of Sunday's appeal beyond his evangelism. In 1913, Sunday wrote a piece about baseball for Collier's Weekly magazine (which would never have been mistaken for a conservative Christian publication): "Baseball is American to the core. … What other sport could so characteristically serve as the play outlet for the nervous, high-strung, third-rail, double-barreled, greased-lightening, strenuous, hustling, bustling bunch of folks--bless ‘em!--that inhabit this country today?”--Rocketj4 (talk) 13:16, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Butoh and the 'handicapped"

I just made a bunch of edits at Butoh, including a daring attempt to begin an encyclopedic consolidation of "definitions". Your comment is definitely of interest. I note that of interest given the "handicapped" comment, that a dancer named "Christina" just performed with a parapalegic in a wheelchair at the Hijikata 80th birthday party in San Francisco a month or two ago. re:You removed my speedy

Hi there Bustter! First off, I'll explain how to use talk pages. Every user has a user page, and a talk page, to get to the talk page of a user, type "User talk:<username>" into the search space, so for me: User talk:Kingpin13. Then use that page to write messages to users, by selecting "new section" (if it's a new comment, if you're adding to an old comment then edit that section, by finding the section, and clicking the [edit] button located next to the section. Hope that makes sense :).

Now, about this page which you tagged for deletion which got removed, I don't know what it was. But it sounds like it was a film which you tagged for deletion because it was not notable. Not having seen the page I can't say much, except I suggest you read this page, and if you still feel you're page shouldn't be included, take it to WP:AfD, but be warned: Because a7 doesn't apply to films, you may have difficulty requesting it's deletion. And I strongly suggest you talk to the person who removed your speedy first. If there's anything that you don't understand let me know (click on the "talk" link on my sig, and then edit away. I appreciate the fact that you're working on the article, but close paraphrasing copyrighted material is not OK on Wikipedia. It's a violation of copyright and can expose us to legal problems. Wow. You are certainly destructive with your edits (this was in 2006). Normally, the procedure on Wikipedia if something is unsourced but reasonably described (as opposed to being obvious nonsense or drivel), is to post a request for citation of a section or a specific sentence... That is done that way, so that other editors (assuming that you could not do so at the time for whatever reasons) can follow up with the markings of questionable (non-cited) material over a reasonable period of time, after you have marked it in need of such. However, your mass deletions without posting a citation request resemble a Stalinist-execution of information that you don't personally agree with. That is contrary to Wikipedia policy and procedure by denying someone the right to speak. You may be a bully in real-life, but Wikipedia in theory at least, has no place for it...
