Speedy deletion of Image:Pong.png edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Pong.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Sdrtirs (talk) 21:22, 16 June 2008 (UTC) Reply

Maine maps edit

Some time ago, you uploaded separate maps for each town and unincorporated community in Aroostook County, Maine. Do you have similar maps for any other counties, or a town-level map of the entire state? Nyttend (talk) 15:13, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your reply. I'm now quite interested, since I didn't know that you could get maps like this from Factfinder. Do you remember how to find them from the Factfinder's "front page", and/or do you have links for them? Nyttend (talk) 03:30, 21 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Breakout2600.png edit

Thank you for uploading Image:Breakout2600.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:16, 18 September 2008 (UTC) Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:Chicago Coin.png) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Chicago Coin.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:03, 14 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Image tagging for File:WIMap-doton-Arlen.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:WIMap-doton-Arlen.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Trek73 edit

I think you'll have to un-merge. Trek73 appears to be Spacewar! with Star Trek shaped ships. It appears to have nothing to do with the Star Trek game you put it into (assuming BEGIN is an accurate representation of the earlier versions). A merge to Spacewar! might be appropriate. My concern about the article above still stands (re: notability). Now that it has been unmerged (against the AfD), will it be merged into the Begin articles as suggested, or will it have to be renominated? Alastairward (talk) 08:33, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Odyssey Series Article edit

Good call on the need to do that, though I think this may need a little more planning out, as that title is way to long. Now that I think about it, it should probably be entitled "Magnavox Odyssey Series" and then cover each of the Odyssey items from the original Odyssey to the Odyssey 2, with main article pointers to the Odyssey and Odyssey2 articles in those sections. Also, then we can also add the Philips Odyssey material to that page as well which also needs a merging. It would then all follow the format of other series pages like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in video games--Marty Goldberg (talk) 22:00, 3 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Kangxi Radical articles edit

The Stovepipe hat of excellence, awarded to Bumm13 for making a good start to countless badly needed Kangxi radical articles. bd2412 T 03:42, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

First, thank you, you really have made a great start on these articles! One thing I'd like to point out, as long as you are making them, is that German Wikipedia already has articles on all of these, as do a few other foreign-language Wikipedias. If you add de:Radikal ### (with ### being whatever the radical number is) at the end of the page, then bots will come along and add the corresponding interwiki links to the articles in the other-language Wikipedias. I can come through and do this with no problem, but it would be easier if it was all done with the creation of the article. Cheers! bd2412 T 16:29, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

 • Only seventeen left to be done! A very good start, indeed. Thanks again for your efforts in getting this important series of articles blue-linked. bd2412 T 14:34, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Kangxi Radical articles again edit

Hi Bumm13! Some questions:

 • it looks like you are fine with including the Wade-Giles for each radical. Do you think we should include the Jyutping in Kangxi Radical Infobox? (Tho this is obviously telling you stuff you already know, it's included in each ja:###部 article.)
 • I've included only the first-mentioned hiragana, kanji, hangul and hanja transliteration from the respective ja:###部 articles. Do you think we should include them all?
 • in Kangxi Radical Infobox the "|hanja=" field only includes the Sino-Korean reading, not the Sino-Korean, as hanja itself, version of the radical. I have no turducken' clue where to find these. Do you?

I've got more qns, but they can wait. Thanks again! --Shirt58 (talk) 10:24, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mate, thanks for the fantastic reply. Great things are certainly afoot in the Kangxi Radical articles. For the now, I've been sidetracked by a long-overdue referencing drive about... British crime fiction novelist Ruth Rendell?!? Erm, surely I should prioritise my attention to more worthy areas. I realise you are wiki-busy too, making important edits to... Disco?!? Erm, surely you should prioritise your attention, etc, :-)--Shirt58 (talk) 09:47, 2 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Back to business edit

Apologies for the WP:SILLINESS above. Back on topic.
You wrote:

Actually, I was completely unaware of the Jyutping romanization system for Cantonese!

So was I, until I started editing the en.wikipedia Kangxi Radical article series.

Nonetheless, I think having a modern romanization method is a good idea, as it makes for good comparison opportunities with the older and more pervasive Yale romanization system (sort of like Pinyin vs. Wade-Giles). As for adding a Jyutping category to the infobox, that'd be a wonderful addition but I have no idea how to parse the scripting used for mediawiki templates. :(

I have no idea, minus 1. Conversly I have WP:BOLDly added

 • Jyutping= #Jyutping
 • yale= #Cantonese Yale

to the

Well, including all possible readings for hiragana, kanji, hangul and hanja transliterations might be overkill, so I guess I tend to lean towards only including first-mentioned ones from the ja: articles. It'd be nice to have an idea which readings are most common (Japanese words have on and kun readings, so having at least one example of both such readings seems adequate to me. I think Korean has the equivalent of on and kun but I have less knowledge about that language in general.

I have but un pochettino of Korean. However, from the ja:radical### ... More soon,

Yet more edit

You wrote:

I'd like to get someone good with mediawiki/template scripting to add the functionality used in the German wikipedia's radicals infobox that shows links (as a radical number) to the previous and next radical articles with triangles as guide arrows. Having this feature would help in navigating these articles while making content additions to them.

As far as I can see, the navigation aids "Isosceles Triangle pointing to previous radical" and "Isosceles Triangle pointing to next radical" would appear to me native to the German wikipedia, not any part of a higher level template. We can, of course, change this ourselves.

Also, please don't convert the external links into inline sources in reference to the number of characters a particular radical is based on, as I got that information from en: wikipedia's List of Kangxi radicals article and not the Unihan database (no biggie, but I don't want to cause source confusion)

Therein lies a problem. www.unicode.org/cgi-bin/GetUnihanData.pl?codepoint=4E00&useutf8=true Unihan data for example is not an acceptable "See also" but it is an allowable external link, as you have rightly pointed out, and thank you for correcting my mistake. Nevertheless, there are still articles that use "Unihan Database - U+####" as a "See also". My best task now would seem to be tidying them up, asap? Oh, but this is so turdckin' complicated!--Shirt58 (talk) 13:55, 7 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
