Fair use rationale for File:Wildfire Games Logo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading File:Wildfire Games Logo.gif. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 04:59, 9 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with File:Another tropical island.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Another tropical island.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 05:11, 9 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Wildfire Games. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Wildfire Games Logo.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Wildfire Games Logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 00:23, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion nomination of Reverie World Studios edit

I have nominated Reverie World Studios, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Reverie World Studios. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Dear Brightglars, on the Peter Hambleton article you added a little box that suggests he is or might be going to play Dwalin in the proposed film of the Hobbit. Do you have a source for this another source suggests Glóin? Best wishes (Msrasnw (talk) 22:07, 29 October 2010 (UTC))Reply

Planned cast edit

We have to remember that we cannot yet declare this topic as a definite film. Despite its late stage of development not a single frame has been shot and thus we have to choose are wording carefully as not to mislead our readers. The actors were infact hired because the director/producers intend (plan) on using them. Once principle photograpghy begins we can say with greater certainty that film will be made and call it a 'Cast' as it will be less intrusive on WP:CRYSTAL. WP:NFF states there is no such thing as a "sure thing" production and even though it is likely to be a high-profile release nothing garautees that it will be immuned from continued setbacks. Justice League for example was cancled even with actors in place.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 21:58, 30 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Adam Brown (actor) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Adam Brown (actor) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. DGG ( talk ) 02:06, 7 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Skyrim video edit

I'm not sure that the skyrim teaser video you uploaded will be suitable - the elderscrolls website clearly claims copyright .. I don't think fair use claim is reasonable. 83.100.248.248 (talk) 05:07, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

It may be promotional but - the company still appears to claim copyright on it, and I don't think the file meets the fair use criteria - ie in Wikipedia:Fair_use I think that the clip must be significant not just illustrative.?83.100.248.248 (talk) 05:16, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

The significance is that it is illustrative. You are partially right though, I will make a fair-use rational to accompany the license.Sir Robert "Brightgalrs" Schultz de Plainsboro (talk) 05:20, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think it needs to be illustrative of something the article is talking about, not just generally - usually I would just link to a video like this in external links..
With more info about the game the video may well turn out to be illustrative in some way of the plot.. but right now I'd just external lnk.83.100.248.248 (talk) 05:30, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Mojang AB edit

Proposed deletion of Mojang AB edit

The article Mojang AB has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Contested speedy. No notability outside Markus Persson and Minecraft. No games but Minecraft and no notable people except Persson. Only refs are Twitter feed and Persson's blog.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 21:26, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Seal of the Organization of American States.svg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Seal of the Organization of American States.svg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. Your contributed article, Template:Infobox African Union edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Template:Infobox African Union. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - African Union. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at African Union - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Metropolitan90 (talk) 06:36, 30 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

New NTC Libya recognition map edit

Your new map does not include senegal colored which recognized the NTC as the sole legitamite goverment.

You forgot about Switzerland to, but I didn't heard about Ireland, that they recognized the TNC. Greenland's and Faroe Isles' dyplomacy is in gesture of the goverment of Danemark. Just like the other dependent territories of Australia: Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Norfolk Island; France: French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Wallis and Futuna; Netherlands: Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten; New Zealand: United Kingdom: Anguilla, Cayman Islands, Gibraltar, Montserrat, Pitcairn Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands, Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Falkland Islands, Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man; USA: American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands are in gesture of those independent countries. Most of them are pointed on this map so yoou should paint them with the right color.

Recognition map edit

A few points here:

1. I appreciate what you're doing, and I have absolutely no doubt you are acting in good faith.

2. The map that was in use is the product of consensus and collaboration between editors - which isn't to say that it can't be replaced, but there needs to be discussion of whether to replace the graphic rather than a unilateral move to do so, and there needs to be continuity between the maps.

3. It's far easier for editors without tools like Illustrator, which are way out of my price range (and technical know-how), to update a PNG map than to update an SVG map. I had to replace a very good SVG map over at Arab Spring with a PNG because the SVG fell out of date and no one was both willing and able to update it.

More specifically concerning the map itself:

1. The border between Sudan and South Sudan needs to be added.

2. Russia, China, and Ireland do not have offices in Benghazi or permanent representatives of the NTC assigned to them. Therefore they shouldn't be depicted in any shade of blue.

3. The number of dots is overwhelming - I suspect because the map you are basing yours off of includes dependencies and territories rather than just internationally recognized, self-governing countries.

4. This one's a nitpick, but there's a lot of blank space around the globe itself; the result is that the map in thumbnail form is unhelpfully small.

I would also recommend you start a thread on Talk:Foreign relations of the Libyan Republic to solicit input from other editors before replacing the old map. Cheers. -Kudzu1 (talk) 04:22, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

1. Simple
2. I thought that lumping the world into general "Informal recognition" and "Formal recognition" would have been easier and better (I'll change it though).
3. You obviously haven't seen to many maps, you need the dots to represent microstates
4. Simple
Also Inkscape is wonderful program for editing SVG's (free too!) Sir Brightypup II 04:48, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, and the old map had those dots to represent microstates. The map you have uploaded also uses dots to represent territories and dependencies with no foreign policy of their own. Thanks for the Inkscape recommendation, I will check it out. -Kudzu1 (talk) 05:12, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Assassin's Creed move edit

I've undone your move of "Assassin's Creed" to "Assassin's Creed (series)". Per naming conventions for video games, if the only disambiguation is between the title of a series and the first game in that series, the series should be given preference to the non-disambig name. Sim City is unique in that the first game itself is very well notable, and has the more common name compared to the other games in the series. For Assassin's Creed, it is the entire series that has notability, and therefore the series is the common name. As you did it, you left nothing at "Assassin's Creed", which is a necessary search team. --MASEM (t) 05:46, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I must have missed that when scanning the policy. And I did make a speedy request to move "Assassin's Creed (video game)" to "Assassin's Creed", so I'm not that stupid. :p Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 21:17, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey, the only thing I'm questioning about your recent edits is having the battlelog under multiplayer. Pretty sure in the video I saw today the battlelog was tied into the singleplayer too, which is why I thought it would be better under gameplay. Muskeato 03:05, 17 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Penultimate edit

Hi

Just a small point - penultimate means next to last, not second to last:

  • He began crossing the road, looked at his watch, then took out his umbrella just as the car struck him.

Looking at his watch was the penultimate thing he did, crossing the road was second to last.

In the article, three things are mentioned.

  • formally dressed and eating dinner
  • finally as a very elderly man lying in a bed
  • transformed into a fetus-like being

I believe the problem here is that the sentence seems to be talking about his visions. His penultimate vision seems to be "dressed and eating dinner", but it was not the penultimate event. Chaosdruid (talk) 03:20, 20 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Right, I mixed up the phrase "second to last" and "next to last" in my explanation. Penultimate is still used correctly. No I was correct (in my explaination at least). "Next-to-last" and "second-to-last" mean the same thing. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 16:20, 20 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
I would have to query that definition, it is not really supported in any dictionary I know of. More importantly if second-to-last means next-to-last, what is first-to-last? Second from last, first from last, and last - by that definition the last is the first from last, which makes no sense whatsoever, a silly phrase that is inacurate. We have ultimate [2], penultimate [3] and the antepenultimate [4] - I would suggest using these as they are fairly well known and defined correctly without ambiguity. Chaosdruid (talk) 00:00, 21 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'm liking "antepenultimate", cool word. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 00:03, 21 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
I realise this is an old thread but I thought I might chime in. 'Second-to-last', 'second from last' and 'second last' are all variations of the same term. If you're second last in line, there's one person behind you. There's no such thing as 'first-to-last', 'first from last' or 'first last', since in meaning these are all the same as 'last' (see also: best, second best). It's not senseless and it's not inaccurate. TechnoSymbiosis (talk) 02:53, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Right, that's what I thought too. There might be a language barrier though. I'm "fluent" in American English, so it might be different in British, Australian, Canadian, etc. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 03:05, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'm Australian and it's the same here. I'd wager it's the same in British English as well, since Australian is 80% British English. TechnoSymbiosis (talk) 03:23, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hobie Landrith Good Article Nomination edit

Hello,

Thank you for nominating Hobie Landrith for good article status. I spent a couple months expanding the article. I didn't bring it to WP:GAN myself since I'm not that good of a writer and am unable to improve an article to GA+ status on my own. My goal has always been to improve an article to B or C status, depending on how much information I can dig up from The Sporting News archives and Google News archives. If the nomination is started, I actually won't be able to be of much or any help. All I care about is the article being substantially expanded to the point where the subject is no longer just a small footnote in history that had a statline of .233-34-203. If I somehow get one of those little green plus marks here and there due to others nominating the articles I expand for GA+ status, that's fine and very much appreciated. I, personally, won't start the review process for the article. It's likely that the article will be left alone and not go to WP:GAN since it's a much lesser-known baseball player, and that's fine. I've been to ill lately to even finish my expansion of Don Demeter for over a year now, located at User:Vodello/Don Demeter. I won't worry about getting any article to good article status. I'll leave it to the more experienced writers on the site, if they want. Again, thanks for the nomination. Agent VodelloOK, Let's Party, Darling! 21:18, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I was reading through your page and read what you were trying to do; very noble cause. The article is just amazing, there is no way it could fail a GA assessment and it might even be FA material. Good job on the article, and well see how it goes! Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 23:07, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
FYI, I've moved my edits to Don Demeter to the articlespace. I know it's a little rough with the prose, but I just wanted to get a readable summary of his entire career out there. I knew absolutely nothing about the player before I wrote the article, just like Hobie Landrith, so you can imagine that it took a long, long time to sift through the 164 references cited in this behemoth. I'm not even really done with the article as I haven't really looked for any news articles past March 1968, but it's good enough for now. Agent VodelloOK, Let's Party, Darling! 21:26, 7 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Good job. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 23:08, 7 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Someone has started the GA process atTalk:Hobie Landrith. Who knows if it'll pass in its current form, but again I won't have the hours needed to make fixes, especially if it involves the 100+ references. Hopefully someone that knows how to write an article proper can fix all the problems with it. Thanks for the nomination. Agent VodelloOK, Let's Party, Darling! 16:28, 23 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

It was looking like Landrith may soon be promoted to GA+ status at Talk:Hobie Landrith/GA1, but it turns out the reviewer was a banned user. I won't be pursuing the issue any further if no one offers to help fix the article's problems. This is looking like a lot more trouble than it's worth to get a little green plus mark. I'm currently working on the stub article Al Worthington at User:Vodello/Al Worthington anyway. Thanks for the nomination anyway. Agent VodelloOK, Let's Party, Darling! 00:30, 3 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

The GAN has now been officially marked as failed. I asked WP:BASEBALL for help, but received no response. Thanks for the nomination, but I won't participate in any GAN's anymore. Others are welcome to try, but I won't go through this mess again. Agent VodelloOK, Let's Party, Darling! 17:15, 6 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your templates for my Euler Diagrams edit

Hey there. I've not been very much around in Wikipedia these two months, and returning I saw that you've made templates to correspond to my two Euler Diagrams about Africa and the OIC. First of all, I'd like to thank you for doing the templates -- that's something I should have done myself, but I had run out of time and energy at the time. So let me start with a big thanks for that.

Second, let me nitpick however: I don't much care for the color background you added -- I don't see the point in them, and I think it makes the image more color-crowded than it needs to be (and it had already needed to be quite a lot). So if it had been completely up to me, I'd have kept the white background...

But that's more of a minor point, and I suppose that other people might prefer it colorful; so I won't unilaterally reverse it. But aore important annoyance is that I don't think it was a good idea to add 300 pixels of empty space on the sides of the African Euler diagram. This empty space in practice ends up reducing the *height* of the diagram, and the flags end up extremely tiny... *This* is a change that I plan to reverse as soon as I update my Euler Diagram to include South Sudan, which I hope to do in the next few days; and I plan to do the corresponding change in its template coordinates as well (I believe that removing 150 from the x-coordinates should work).

I'm sorry for these nitpicks. As I said, I primarily want to thank for the great job with the template! The links to the countries were something that indeed needed to exist. Aris Katsaris (talk) 23:24, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey! Thanks for the feedback. I put in backgrounds because a similar euler diagram for European organizations had a blue one, I thought it would keep them similar. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 06:10, 7 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your GA nomination of Hobie Landrith edit

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article Hobie Landrith you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria.   This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Globalwheels (talk) 18:54, 26 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Looked at the article, and thought about reviewing it. Are you planning on improving the article if some one decides to review it and put the work into it? The article has some issues that really need to resolve. The lead doesn't match the the body. There are things cited in the lead that aren't mentioned in the body, like date of birth. There is also information in the information box that is cited. Those citations would need to be cleaned out. There is information in the info box that is not cited and that is not mentioned in the article. These are all things that would need to be cleaned up. If you're willing to do the work on the GA, I'd be happy to review it. --LauraHale (talk) 01:45, 9 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Er, what are you trying to do to the Generals' lists? edit

I'm sorry in advance if I sound somewhat hostile as that is not entirely my intent, but I am of the opinion (and I doubt I'm alone in this) that your recent edits to the pages List of American Civil War Generals (Union) and List of American Civil War Generals (Confederate) are in fact wildly counter-productive, to say nothing of introducing a certain measure of factual inaccuracy that did not exist before. Making such radical changes to these articles is something that you should never have undertaken without first a) seeking some form of consensus from the several people who have spent literally years crafting these pages, and b) taking a close look at the discussions surrounding those pages and the scholarship behind them. The abbreviations were used for a reason; the introductions were written the was they were for a reason. The lists are tailored (or, in the case of the CSA list, in the process of being tailored) for brevity, accuracy, and ease of navigation. Forcing changes on other editors in this manner that are specifically contrary to all three those goals - not to mention the consensus of several other authors who have put far more work into the articles than you - is not only invasive, but quite frankly offensive, to say nothing of the fact that you're actually damaging the accuracy and integrity of hundreds of hours of work by other people with absolutely no consideration for those editors. Your edits to List of American Civil War generals and List of American Civil War brevet Generals (Union) have (thus far) been perfectly reasonable, being merely format changes and clarifying grammar that in no way changed the nature of the work. Even clarification, summation, and addition of links, information, and references is more than welcomed. Wholesale deletion, elimination of accuracy, sweeping changes of format, and complete disregard for why things have been done the way they have is not. Next time you wish to make drastic changes that transform the very nature of rather massive articles that quite obviously involved a lot of work by numerous people, please have the common consideration to put the matter up for discussion before unilaterally deciding to quite literally change the accuracy of other people's work.IcarusPhoenix (talk) 18:46, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Just being bold. People have been talking and talking about how to reduce the size of the article. Why would we need a notes section in a list article? If you need details on each general outside of rank, date of birth and date of death go look in their articles.
The thing is I've solved the problems with the article. If you want to apply a different solution to an older draft feel free, but for now my revision stands. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 18:56, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
To address some of your other concerns: The abbrevitions are unnecessary without the notes section, and any of the ones that were necessary have been replaced with the full phrase (USMA=United States Military Academy). Also, if you look on the talk page I am not alone in my opinion on what needed to be done with this article. I also think you have completely underestimated how much work it was in fixing the article. If you ignore simply deleting the notes section I've also added in at least 50 missing photos. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 19:00, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry but this: "...to say nothing of introducing a certain measure of factual inaccuracy that did not exist before." make me laugh. I've introduced no new information besides the photos found on each general's respective article.
Also this: "The lists are tailored (or, in the case of the CSA list, in the process of being tailored) for brevity, accuracy, and ease of navigation." is an absurd claim. In the previous state the notes section of the CSA list was obviously not easily navigable. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 19:06, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think you obviously misunderstood what I actually edited, so here is a short list: CSA Article

  • Removed the whole 'notes' column which was a total mess and unnecessary
  • Added in at least 50 missing pictures (taken from each generals respective article)
  • Removed most nicknames, which are really unencyclopedic especially because they are "war nicknames"
  • Removed abbreviations because they were used in the 'notes' section (really unencyclopedic anyway)
  • Abbreviations that were used in the college section were replaced with the full name (USMA=United States Military Academy, VMI=Virginia Military Institute)
  • Moved references from inline citation to the bottom section
  • Removed most breaks except in the rank column, where they are actually needed
  • General changes to the introduction

Union Article

  • Replaced all abbreviations with full name/phrase - seriously, it's such a long article you can't constantly be scrolling up to figure out what the abbreviations mean
  • General changes to the introduction

Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 19:21, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

This is what I'm talking about; if you wished to have this discussion before making wholesale changes that - as stated - actually damage the accuracy of the articles, that would have been one thing; adding photos, for example, is more than welcome (and saves me the time and trouble, since I'm the one whose been tracking those down). IcarusPhoenix (talk) 19:51, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I haven't touched the accuracy of the article! I've introduced no new information except the photos! Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 20:04, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
However, you instead - quite arrogantly - decided that you know better than people who have spent literally years doing the job and discussing how it should be done before making such drastic changes - which is all the more ludicrous when you consider that some of the other editors are actually scholars in the field. IcarusPhoenix (talk) 19:51, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
People that obviously don't know what the function of a list article is, nor know how what to include in it, nor know how to format a notes section! Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 20:04, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, if you had bothered to take fifteen seconds to check both the editing histories and the talk pages, you would have noticed that not only were some of your concerns already being addressed, but that in some cases we agreed with your basic point (about the cumbersomeness of the CSA notes section, for example, though not about it's mere existence) and had already agreed on a method to fix the problem. Next time, pay some attention and have the common decency to treat others with respect. Some of your edits are contrary to the manual of style, most of them are specifically against the wishes of other editors ("being bold" is a euphemism for "ignoring common courtesy", apparently), and all of them are invasive if you insist on performing them without consideration for other editors. I've no wish to enter and edit war, but I will be reverting these changes until you have the common decency to act like an adult and discuss such large work with your peers, and any further such acts of disrespect will be treated as common vandalism, something Civil War editors are used to and are quite capable of combating. IcarusPhoenix (talk) 19:51, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Here is the bottom line. My version of the article is better then the previous version. If you would like to create a version that is superior then do so. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 20:04, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
"If you would like to create a version that is superior then do so." I did; several other people worked with me on it. You unilaterally changed it. Please read Wikipedia:Consensus; You are a hard-worker, you are dedicated, and you would be welcomed by all of us, but instead you decided to ignore us. Massive 300,000-character edits without once discussing it with other editors are not "good faith edits". As for your claims to accuracy, it isn't the addition of information that damaged the integrity of the work, but the subtraction. Imagine if you will that you had done the same amount of work that you just did on these articles, but came back and did that same work several dozen times... and then someone came out of nowhere and, without discussing it with anyone else, eliminated massive swaths of it. Do you seriously not understand the objection? IcarusPhoenix (talk) 20:32, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Anyway, It appears we are at an impasse. I will start dispute resolution now. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 20:07, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please divert all discussion here.

Speedy deletion nomination of John C. Cawood edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on John C. Cawood requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Sleddog116 (talk) 01:35, 3 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Page move edit

Thanks for initiating the page move of Malcolm Lee to Malcolm Lee (basketball) and changing Malcolm Lee to a disambiguation page. You may not have been aware, but it is strongly recommended that users that usuarp a page title—as you did in changing "Malcolm Lee" to a disambiguation page instead of redirecting to "Malcolm Lee (basketball)"—are strongly recommended to change all pages that links to the old title (Malcolm Lee) so they will link to the new title (Malcolm Lee (basketball)). Don't worry, I have now taken care of the links, but keep this in mind for any future moves.—Bagumba (talk) 00:33, 4 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Mark Weinberg (judge), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.fedcourt.gov.au/aboutct/weinberg.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Hi! It seems that the text you have contributed to this article appears to be a copy or a close paraphrase of the copyright text at the FCA website. While facts are not copyrightable, creative elements of presentation – including both structure and language – are, even when there are a limited number of ways of saying the same thing. Your semi-fake "You don't actually have new messages" on your user page is illegal to have... It was enacted February 2012. Trying to keep straight all the rule changes around here is impossible. page move edit

I disagree with this move because the new title you used is not sometihng you'd normally see written either in print or by hand. I moved it back. The manual page you cited said that in such cases, redirects should exist from names you'd find on the keyboard. Certainly that is now being done. Michael Hardy (talk) 17:50, 9 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

The source given on that page ([5]) has it as "(Infinity,1)-category" - so obviously it is something that would appear in print. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 21:23, 9 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

BrownTrout edit

Hey, will you please notify the writers of articles you nominated? Moreover, this author would like some help: "Help me fix it don't just delete me!" Since you nominated the article, you can best explain to the author what they should do to prevent their article from being speedily deleted. Please leave a note on their talk page: in the meantime, I am not going to delete it, since deletion shouldn't be easy. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 05:29, 13 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Well, are you going to explain to them what the problem is and how such an article might be fixed? Drmies (talk) 03:54, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
    • I don't handle confrontation very well. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 06:57, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
      • Then you maybe shouldn't deal with CSDs. If you can't explain to a user who asks for your help, it's best not to place yourself in a situation where you are morally required to: nominating someone's article for speedy deletion is, almost by definition, a confrontation, since you're telling them their work should be deleted. Drmies (talk) 13:12, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
        • I'll admit it. I was wrong to nominate that article, upon further inspection I simply read it wrong - there it nothing inherently wrong with it. Is that what you wanted to hear? For an administrator you certainly aren't doing your best to fulfill my expectations. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 13:45, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
          • I don't care about wrong--I asked you (twice now) to explain to the editor what they could do to improve the article, how to write an article in the proper way. That's an aspect of Wikipedia that's all too easily forgotten. If you can explain to the editor what you think was wrong with it and what Wikipedia standards are, then I have no complaint at all. I can't judge your expectations in relation to my conduct, but I can tell you that producing an article to have it speedily deleted without explanation is hurtful, and I have a link for that: WP:BITE. Drmies (talk) 15:16, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
            • Shit, you're right. I've added some constructive criticism on the BrownTrout talk page. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 16:39, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
              • Thanks. I'll tell you something: in many cases it may be a waste of time, but many WP editors start by doing something that's quickly deleted or reverted, and encouraging them is a good thing--and sometimes, it's productive and even fun to get in touch with the humans who type this up, and talk to them in a non-templated way. Proposed deletion of Discovering Gloria edit

The article Discovering Gloria has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Only source is a primary source; may not be notable.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 07:58, 23 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:Black Mesa Soundtrack Album Cover.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Black Mesa Soundtrack Album Cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:14, 18 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Destiny (video game) edit

Until it's confirmed on PS4 or Xbox 720 platforms, it should not be listed in the infobox. "Future generation technology" is vague and ambiguous so it should not be there. However in the prose of the article it may be worth mentioning with that IGN source that it is a possible next-gen title. The1337gamer (talk) 18:24, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Possibly unfree File:Black Mesa Soundtrack Cover.jpg edit

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Black Mesa Soundtrack Cover.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Dianna (talk) 03:54, 10 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Brightgalrs. I noticed that some time ago you uploaded File:Seal of the Organization of American States.svg which you marked as a non-free logo. A derivative work of this logo was uploaded to Commons as File:Flag of the Organization of American States.svg but tagged as being in the public domain. Due to this contradiction I've started a deletion discussion on Commons. As you have previously made a claim concerning the copyright status of the logo, I thought I would notify you in case you have information to contribute. —Psychonaut (talk) 07:59, 14 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Krishna filmography edit

Articles are not allowed to be left sitting in redlinked (i.e. non-existent) categories under any circumstances ever — the only choices available in that circumstance are to either replace the non-existent category with {{uncategorized}} (exactly as I did) or to immediately create the category (which would not have been appropriate in this particular case due to the incorrect naming format.) While it's evident that the appropriate category did already exist under a different name, AWB does not offer any way to actually determine that — the only thing a person can do within AWB is to either create or kill the specific category link that's actually on the article that's directly in front of them. (One can also replace the link with the correct spelling if one already knows that the category already exists under a different spelling, but AWB doesn't provide any way to find out whether the category exists under a different spelling if one doesn't already personally know that.) So it wasn't a "hasty" edit; it was the only possible edit under the circumstances. Bearcat (talk) 17:41, 17 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

At least you recognize that AWB has its flaws. A manual edit would never have done that. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 01:12, 18 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Approximately 200 new uncategorized or improperly categorized articles are created on Wikipedia every single day — which in turn means that it takes five days or less for the number of articles needing categorization maintenance or repair to exceed 1,000. AWB may have its flaws, but it's the only way that a batch of that size can realistically be dealt with — it's not really your place to demand that anybody who's dealing with that queue manually process 1,000 or 1,500 articles just because you find it inconvenient to deal with a maintenance tag. If you happen to know the correct category for an article that's been tagged, then by all means add the correct category and remove the tag — but no, you do not get to criticize the person who added the tag for using an automated process instead of a manual one. Just fix it and move on. Bearcat (talk) 23:22, 29 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Black Mesa Soundtrack Cover.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Black Mesa Soundtrack Cover.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Enlargement map colours edit

Please, could you chance the colours of the EU enlargement map? Croatia is too bright to be seen, and the ante-penultimate enlargement was in 2004, 9 years ago,so that could be darker as well. Sweden, Denmark and Austria also joined after the creation of the European Union. I hope that helps.--94.197.127.214 (talk) 08:30, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help.
