Citation formats edit

Hi,

In your most recent changes to Radical Faeries‎, you cut out a specifically placed footnote and converted the citation to a "floating" source at the end of the document while at the same time removing the {{citation}} template. The citation template is particularly useful for enabling automatic cross-referencing using other templates such as {{harvnb}}, good practice is to avoid re-formatting citations when making changes. It is also good practice to make citations specfic and removing the footnote and making the source indirect does the opposite.

If you are familiar with the sources you may find it helpful to investigate the {{harv}} template and add cross-references to specific page numbers while keeping the citation indirect. Cheers (talk) 11:35, 27 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I don't know what you mean by "footnote" since I didn't remove any footnotes. I cited something in the article to the book and added the book to the reference section, removing it as now being redundant from the Bibliography section. The book was not being used for anything in the article until I added information from it. Brig Anderson (talk) 11:53, 27 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the correction, looking again I can see it was not wrapped in a footnote. I'm not sure that "Bibliography" is meaningful for Radical Faeries as such sections only apply to biographic articles, the intention is probably a "Further reading" section. Is there any reason why you would want to remove the standard {{citation}} template from the book citation or add it as an unlinked extra to "References" rather than creating a "Sources" section (see WP:FNNR)? As this seems to be getting messy, I'll add a proposal on the talk page for feedback. (talk) 13:51, 27 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
