Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. - John- I got your note on the video external links I added to some articles today. I don't understand what the issue is. These video clips conform to all Wiki guidelines, they are not advertising anything, they do not promote an agenda, and they bring added value to the articles in the form of short, educational video clips that enhance or further the information in the given article. Our company, Venture Media, is an Emmy Award-winning production company founded in 1979 and specializing in the research, writing, and production of educational videos and documentaries for entities such as PBS, Discovery Networks, Travel Channel, KnowledgeTV, the Armed Forces Network, the National Park Service, Readers Digest Home Media, and many others. The video links do not promote our company in any way and simply provide interesting and relevant information that applies directly to the articles. We actually have a library of about 1,000 of these video clips that we have recently digitized and begun adding to a new educational YouTube Channel dedicated to learning (especially for children) called Brain Bubble TV. We would like to add links to many more of these clips to other Wiki articles as well, and share this interesting visual information with your users. We don't understand why you feel these links violate Wikipedia policy. Please explain. Thanks for your time. Already read all that. The only issue I see is that we're the producers and we're also adding the links. Why that's considered a conflict of interest if we're not selling anything is beyond us. The people who wrote all your articles in the first place added them themselves, so how is that different? In any case, should we just get someone else to put these links up, or are you simply not interested in adding 16 hours of broadcast-quality rich media to your articles? Frankly, we never expected to have such problems GIVING AWAY a couple of hundred thousand dollars worth of quality video production for free!
