Also, the section that we are working under is American artists, but really it was an international exhibit so I don't see why we should limit it so. Gawd knows that wikipedia gets accused often enough of being Amerocentric (got a better word?) without our intentionally doing it. Separating painters and sculptors seems like a good idea. Hallgarten Prize

@Doncram: Thanks for the addition. There's something screwy with Carl W. Peters's Hallgartens. Since an artist could only win one Hallgarten in each class, I'm not sure I have things right. Courtship of Miles Standish, redone by Turner

Hi, yes, this is about my adding a tiny bit to BoringHistoryGuy's current sandbox, currently in this version. Seems like Hallgarten Prize is important and has famous works by young-ish artists, including "Courtship of Myles Standish" (oh, this is a re-do not the more famous painting), and maybe it is oriented to paintings done in older/traditional/genre styles? I don't see where a list of prizes is given, online anywhere. It adds value to link to, show paintings, etc. --Doncram (talk) 17:31, 23 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi, just to let you know what i did: After first searching less systematically I then searched in Google on "Second Hallgarten" and went through all the hits, skipping only those that seemed to relate to the early years which you had completely sorted out already. I added notes wherever it seemed i had new/different information. Came across some where I could have added supporting notes for items you had already put in, but usually did not. Then searched on "Third Hallgarten" and then on "First Hallgarten". I went through everything available that way, and am done, and don't currently see how I could help any much more. I came to this, of course, through noticing your posting at User talk:Carptrash#‎‎Whudduya think?. Thanks for letting me engage in this, it was sort of an interesting side exercise for me to try to help. Striking to me that info availability drops off so dramatically at 50 or 75 year or whatever is the mark for copyright restrictions expiring, as you allude to at Carptrash discussion.
