Your Epsilon Tau Pi edits

Hello Birdly3. I saw today's edit to the Epsilon Tau Pi chapter list, and understand what you are trying to do. Clearly yours was a good faith edit, and we welcome your engagement. There are a couple of problems with these edits that draw the table outside of our standard 'stylesheet' for the Fraternities and Sororities Project, a stylesheet that has had virtually every aspect and formatting decision discussed through a consensus process.

1. Wherever we edit and update these pages we list active colonies, in bold, just like active chapters.
2. Among all GLOs, colonies come and go. Perhaps half of them will be installed as full chapters. We decided after a consensus discussion, as a bar of entry, that those colonies that DID NOT achieve installation as an active chapter would not be listed, except when they were assigned a chapter name.
3. Where a local was absorbed, we list these as an EFN note.
4. Where a colony with some significance to its formation is absorbed, we list this as a reference (also typically EFN) note. --EFNs show up under the notes list template, normally without a citation link. Rather, they offer additional expanded language to clarify a line.
5. From our perspective, the big mark of achievement is the date of installation, whereas colonization date is typically of marginal interest. We also include range of dates when active. Normally, a date of closure only marks the year, while installation or re-installation has the full, accurate date.
6. Only the first date, the original charter date, ought to be rendered in the DTS template. It forces correct sorting. (other dates can be placed in that format without a problem).
7. While we'd prefer that only installed chapters achieve a name within the ranks of the active groups, we realized that some recently-formed nationals (and some chapters of the earliest nationals that were experimenting) were granted names within their anticipated series. So we thought that for clarity we'd leave these in the lists: These names were unlikely to be re-assigned and their inclusion insures that casual readers don't think we missed one of the names from an otherwise clearly alphabetical list. Most nationals now utilize a strict alphabetical model.
8. Achievement of active status, in a way, memorializes the chapter, so even if it later goes dormant the GLO can show their achievement over-and-above an aborted colony. But a "Youngstown State colony" that sputtered and died out prior to activation doesn't rate such memorialization.
9. Not all GLO lists of chapters follow these rules, as we haven't gotten to each one. But we are working on it.
