James Jean

The focus of James Jean's entry should be updated in light of his transition to fine art. Since 2007, he has retired from illustration to concentrate on fine art painting and personal book projects. The image of the Fables cover should also be updated to reflect his most recent body of work. Additional book projects should be included: Process Recess vol. 3 and Kindling. Thanks for your help! Esao Andrews

Need help establishing this artist as notable. Though I admit I'd not heard of him prior to going through the list of "Lowbrow" artists, once I saw his work there was no doubt in my mind that he should be included in this category. Ethicoaestheticist has tagged the article on notability grounds, but this is not because of any enmity. Rather there is very little written about Esao from a biographical perspective. Also, since the Notability Guidelines do not include the visual arts I would be interested in an effort to codify notability standards for this category. Thanks in advance for any help with this. The notability guidelines do include visual arts. See WP:CREATIVE, a subsection of the notability criteria for biographies. If Andrews doesn't meet the specific criteria for visual artists (works in museum collections, major awards etc.), notability can also be established through significant coverage in reliable third-party sources. His works have been featured at Jonathan LeVine Gallery, Chelsea Art Galleries, BoingBoing, Beinart.org featured artist, Dorothy Circus Gallery, Rome, Italy, and a featured Artist at Juxtapoz.com.
