A tag has been placed on BeerToolsPro User Manual, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

It has been deleted, as it should. BeerToolsPro is commercial software developed by other people; I am merely a user who intended to participate in helping them develope a user manual and thought it was being done through wikipedia, when in reality they are maintaining a private 'wiki' on their own server using MediaWiki software. I just went to the wrong place.

snipped other dialogue about what to do if I object to the deletion, etc.

Re: Grow Hops edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! The Grow-Hops article looks promising, and I'd be happy to help you improve the article.

For editing talk pages, it's generally a good idea to add a new section for each "conversation", by using the "+" sign next to "edit this page" on talk pages. That way, things are nicely organized (I just realized I forgot to do this for the Grow-Hops talk page, so that's been fixed). When you reply to someone, just put a colon (:) in front of your message, which automatically indents it (add more colons for more indenting), making it easy to see what you are replying to.

Okay; understood. Thanks.

With regards to the article title, I think the title "Growing hops" is a better name for it (see Wikipedia:Manual of Style for more information on practically every style question you might have). Moving an article is easy; just use the "move" button to move the page, and voila, it is done.

Is "moving the page" the same as "changing the title"?

For the main article, I would suggest not referencing the Yahoo group (tempting as it may) because it's not really related to the article, and may in fact detract from the aim of the article (presumably to provide a full treatment on the methods and issues with growing hops).

Well, if I persuade members of our group to spend a lot of time working on this, I'd like to see them get some credit, if they can, if it's not inappropriate.

Since your article is presently in the planning stages, may I suggest that you put a brief stub in place of the article, and move the planning to the User space, e.g. to User:Billvelek/Growing hops? You can put a link to the planning page on the discussion page of the main article, while leaving something for people to read in the mean time (rather than a proclamation that it's a planning page). The {{underconstruction}} tag may help too.

As soon as I can figure out what you mean, I'll do that. I'm sure you can tell this is all new to me. Also, instead of using my username, can I somehow create a page using Grow-Hops as the user name? Also, I see that the page is now marked for deletion; will changing it to a 'stub' preserve it while we are working on this? I have over 100 links to various website containing assorted information on the subject, including many government and university websites, so consolidating all of that is going to take a lot of time, depending on how many members participate.

Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask me or at the help desk. nneonneotalk 04:38, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you did it right that time. I've removed it, since it's a duplicate of what was posted before, but you did the right thing :) All you need to do in the future is supply a more useful section title. nneonneotalk 05:39, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks.

Wikia edit

Billvelek, please, for goodness sake, sign talk page comments with ~~~~. My best advice is: forget Wikipedia - go and create an hoppers wiki at Wikia. (And what was difficult about putting {{gardening-stub}} at the bottom?) -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 18:12, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

And do not delete other people's signatures! This edit was totally cack-handed. You deleted half of RyanP's message including his signature. (Even if you go to Wikia, you will have to conform to some standards of careful editing!) -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 18:18, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

But have you asked BeerToolsPro if you can add hopping to their wiki? -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 18:24, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
