Some advice on citations edit

Hi Bilalkhatri! Nice job so far on Ismail Sulemanji Khatri! You learn how to edit very quickly!

I just wanted to offer some advice on citations. In Ismail Sulemanji Khatri, you gave references, but only gave links to each website. That's not a bad thing, but when we cite, we want to give as much information about the source as we can. For example, the title and the author and the publisher, things like that.

If you're on a computer, there are always little buttons above the text when you edit, like B and I and Advanced and Special Characters. One of them says Cite, and when you click on it, another button that says Templates will appear below it to the left. When you click in that, it will list types of citations that it will put together for you. Once you choose one, a box will appear with things to fill out (title, author, url, etc). Try to fill out as many as you can.

If you're on a mobile device, you won't see those buttons. You can go to Wikipedia:Citation templates#Examples and copy/paste the template between <ref></ref>. Then, fill out as much info as you can.

I'll format one of the citations as an example. We have http://m.timesofindia.com/city/bhopal/Bagh-legend-Ismail-Khatri-dies-in-Dhar-district/articleshow/34365442.cms

But we can change it to <ref>{{cite news|title=Bagh legend Ismail Khatri dies in Dhar district|url=http://m.timesofindia.com/city/bhopal/Bagh-legend-Ismail-Khatri-dies-in-Dhar-district/articleshow/34365442.cms|accessdate=4 January 2015|agency=Times of India|date=April 29, 2014}}</ref>

which will appear as this: [1]

I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again for your contributions to Wikipedia! See you around! Bananasoldier (talk) 17:22, 4 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

April 2015 edit

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Bagh, Dhar. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you.
