Bus image edit

Hi. I've just come across the nice 614 bus image you uploaded. Every image uploaded needs a license, so everyone else can see what it is license as and how they can use the image. Currently, the 614 bus image doesn't have a license so will get deleted soon. Any chance you can have a look a Wikipedia:Image license tags, and add a license, such as {{pd-self}}, so that the image isn't deleted. Thanks, Arriva436talk/contribs 13:10, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the advice. I have added the tag to my image now. :) BigToe7000 (talk) 13:55, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

614 image edit

I have now moved the Uno 614 image to Wikimedia Commons, where it can now be used on all the Wikimedia projects, not just the English Wikipedia. It now lives will all the other bus images on Wikimedia Commons. The link to its new page is Commons:File:Uno bus UL55 UNO.jpg. I have created a user category for your image, and any others you may add, which can be seen here Commons:Category:Images by User:BigToe7000 from en.wikipedia. Thanks for uploading the image by the way, it's incredibly useful as previously there wasn't an image for Uno. Arriva436talk/contribs 21:42, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for doing this! Depending on time and other factors I may be able to get some more pictures of Uno buses. I will try, and if I can I will use your commons category. BigToe7000 (talk) 00:17, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Uno bus route SHTL edit

Any admin should be able to restore the article. They may ask for what coverage exists in independent reliable sources, or a deletion discussion may get started at the same time. As a general rule, unless you can show significant coverage, bus routes are considered to be non notable. Nuttah (talk) 17:20, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Okay, thank you for your help. I assumed that just because it existed it was notable enough, as is evidenced in a few London bus articles. I shall try to find some external sources for when the admin who deleted it responds (apparently policy is to ask them first to revert the deletion). BigToe7000 (talk) 17:35, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
The majority of bus articles have been deleted, very few survive and they tend to be in places like London where people have written (and sold) books on the history of routes - providing significant coverage that is not the news. The few that may remain may come under WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Nuttah (talk) 17:45, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay. I have found a number of articles from external sources, mainly either reports on the university or pages about events at the university (not written by the University itself as I know you said reliable independent sources) suggesting the use of/mentioning the shuttle bus. These are only small snippets of information and not a long article. Would this be enough to be considered notable again? BigToe7000 (talk) 17:54, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
As far as I can see the University owns/runs UNO so anything they publish, pay to have 'advertised' or put out as PR is not independent. In terms of notability, you need to provide at least one independent reliable source that has significant coverage of about the bus route, not something that merely mentions that it calls at or goes somewhere. Even that may not be enough. To have a good case at a deletion discussion most contributors would expect multiple (3+) independent sources where the coverage is significant and about the route. You may get away with one or two sources if you can provide a national publication (Times/Guardian/etc) where the coverage is significant. See WP:GNG Nuttah (talk) 18:05, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, I have found the Times[1], Independent[2] and Guardian[3] mentioning it but unfortunately not enough to be notable. There are a lot of independent small references but no large ones, as it is probably seemingly self-explanatory and if people want more information only the university/Uno seem to publish it in more detail. BigToe7000 (talk) 18:13, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
And that is why the majority of bus route articles are deleted. People do not write about them in detail, hence they do not meet the notability guidelines at Wikipedia. Nuttah (talk) 18:19, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I think I am now a lot clearer on the subject. Thank you for being understanding and for being helpful! BigToe7000 (talk) 18:24, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • I've restored this. PRODs don't need DRV--you can ask any administrator, or ask at WP:REFUND for them to be restored. Cheers, Jclemens (talk) 23:54, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for restoring it. (I didn't totally understand whether I could ask any admin or if it had to be Fastily - Nuttah above said that any admin could restore it but I was unsure as to whether that meant technically or whether it is proper policy) I will now work on correcting the article and hoping it is now deemed notable. Proposed deletion of Uno bus route 602 edit

The article Uno bus route 602 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable bus route without secondary sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
