Unreferenced edits

edit

Hi Bekomil, Your recent edits to Technical diving, Marine salvage and other articles refer to an unreferenced DSU. some of these edits have been reverted for circular linking, and a google search failed to detect any references to Deep Salvage Units. If you have reliable references for your edits please use them. Thanks, • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 19:18, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

DSU. (Deep Salvage Unit) In consideration that I served in one after my time in Bomb and Mine I know far more about these units than you. I spent all my Military service in underwater clearance. Not everything in life can be found on google.I will re-instate my information which is FACT! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bekomil (talkcontribs) 09:35, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Fact is fine, but you will find that it is necessary on Wikipedia to reference your facts if anyone challenges them, so to avoid problems, please reference your facts when you make any statement that is likely to be challenged. This is particularly important where things can not be found on google. If, as you say, you are knowledgeable about this subject and intend to add facts which can be verified, you will be welcome to do so. Cheers, • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 10:40, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Your more recent edit to Marine salvage includes a link to San Diego-based Deep Submergence Unit Holds Change of Command, which refers to a Deep Sumergence Unit, not a Deep Salvage Unit. Is this a typo, or is there a real Deep Salvage Unit which has not yet been verified? Please understand that all I am trying to do is ensure that the information is accurate and reliable, and where it is outside of my own experience that means reliable references so I can look it up. If you can sufficiently reference your edits I would be happy to assist with formatting where necessary. Equally happy to leave you to do it yourself if you prefer. You are welcome to respond on my talk page, but if you reply here I will also get the message. • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 11:17, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Deep Salvage Unit forms part of the Deep Submergence Unit. Its primary duty is SALVAGE, whereas the submersion unit's is LOCATING to enable SALVAGE,got it?
I'm sure most of us understand the words. All that is missing is the reference that proves that "Deep Salvage Unit" exists. From Wikipedia:Verifiability: "Other people have to be able to check that you didn't just make things up. This means that all quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation." You just need to tell us where we can find that reliable, published source and we'll sort out the inline citation for you. How does that sound? --RexxS (talk) 20:10, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
I get what you are saying. What I am looking for is a citation or a link to an official US Navy website which includes the words "Deep Salvage Unit" and some explanation of what it is. This gets added to the Marine salvage article as a citation footnote, so anyone who wants to check that there actually is such a thing can check for themselves. If you actually worked in one you should be in a very good position to find a reliable source, which helps Wikipedia retain and develop credibility, and increases the value of the article.
