Hello, Claude, and welcome to Wikipedia. I read your request on the Genealogy Talk Page. I'm actually going to recommend the Wikibook:Genealogy project, which can be acccessed from the Genealogy page, or here. France has not yet been covered. ThuranX 01:45, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Baudoin1. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Standards Leadership Council, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. — JJMC89(T·C) 04:57, 28 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Response edit

Thank you for explaining all this. I am a member (by delegation, actually) of the Steering Committee of the organization that is the subject of the page I created.

I am not being paid for the work of that not-for-profit organization.

We found the page to be missing and I created it. If you examine the page, you should see that I took pains to adopt a NPOV. I don't use any words that indicate a favorable (or unfavorable) opinion of the organization. I just state factually what they do. I am going to read the guideline you pointed me to and see if I need to do anything additional to meet the rules. Claude (talk) 05:10, 28 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
