Adding templates

How can I get templates to work with the TemplateParam tool? Was thinking Infobox rocket and Infobox astronaut, so I can monitor the main spaceflight-related infoboxes. Kees08 (Talk) 06:24, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

@Kees08: When you edit a templates documentation page, a Manage TemplateData button appears. Example: Template:Infobox_rocket/doc. mw:Help:TemplateData#Methods has information of the TemplateData editor. --Bamyers99 (talk) 14:27, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
Thank you. Seems like a good thing for me to add. If I go through all the invalid parameters and attempt to fix them all, is there a manual way to trigger the update to make sure I got them all? Sometimes I skip entries that are hard to fix and come back to them later, but it is tough when later means a month :). Kees08 (Talk) 21:23, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
@Kees08: No manual update. The update is run against a data dump of the wiki. --Bamyers99 (talk) 21:46, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
Category:Pages using infobox rocket with unknown parameters and Category:Pages using infobox astronaut with unknown parameters may be helpful. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:52, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks; those pages are helpful but Bamyers pages are a little more efficient to work with. I figured that was the case for the monthly update. Is that listed anywhere on your documentation pages? I even went to GitHub and did not see it, but it could be because I am a bad looker. Also, perhaps if TemplateData does not exist for an item, instead of displaying 'Template not found', would it be possible to say that the template exists but requires TemplateData? Or, if that is not possible, to say if the template exists on Wikipedia but was not found, that TemplateData needs to exist, and link to a page on how to add it? Kees08 (Talk) 16:24, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
I find the monthly reports helpful as well. The "unknown parameter" categories can be useful once you think cleanup is done, or for monitoring between monthly reports. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:12, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

Article Hijacking

Heya, I know it happened a while ago but I just cleaned up the article split that happened at Roudná. In the future, if you see an article that was hijacked, or just an article that needs to be split to return old revisions of it to a previous location, DO NOT just copy the old content back to the original location; this creates all sorts of issues. Instead, request a split and/or a histmerge (the latter using {{histmerge}}) or alert an admin. Primefac (talk) 19:16, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Film Articles

Hi, the list of new film articles created by your bot is not showing up, at least to me, please advise, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 01:09, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

@Atlantic306: All 3 lists were updated today: UpcomingFilmsSearchResult, FilmsSearchResult, CinemaSearchResult. --Bamyers99 (talk) 01:21, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

COVID-19 new articles list

Hi! Would it be possible to change Wikipedia:WikiProject COVID-19/New articles so that it only lists articles that have been tagged as part of the project? It's hard to filter through the chaff there to tell what's actually related versus just e.g. Slade Cecconi. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 19:27, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

@Sdkb: I have changed it to only look in the article lead and categories for matches. It does not look at talk pages. I would assume that part of the purpose of the new article list is to find articles to tag with the project. --Bamyers99 (talk) 20:13, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

TunisiaSearchResult

Dear Bamyers,
I have followed the instructions to put User:AlexNewArtBot/TunisiaSearchResult in place. First results show articles that have no clear or limited links to the topic. On the other side, I would expect Azouz Chennaoui to be captured as it was created on 17 May. How would you suggest to amend rules to better capture activity? Moumou82 (talk) 08:54, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

@Moumou82: I have updated the rules. If an article had the word Tunisia in it, then it matched both /Tunisia/ and /Tunisian/ rules. I have consolidated them to one rule with an optional n at the end. The categories rules were also redundant as [^\]]* will also match \s*. Azouz Chennaoui was not found because InceptionBot only looks at articles that are new or updated in the previous day. --Bamyers99 (talk) 23:00, 23 May 2020 (UTC)
Understood, thanks! Moumou82 (talk) 08:27, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

AlexNewArtBot/MicrosoftSearchResult

Hi - AlexNewArtBot/MicrosoftSearchResult is listing almost any article which has the words xbox into it... so for example an Article about the new Lamborghini Car (which indeed has nothing to do with Microsoft at all) etc., this makes not much sense at all - isn't it possible to adjust the search patterns !? CommanderWaterford (talk) 20:14, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

@CommanderWaterford: I have tweaked the rules a bit. --Bamyers99 (talk) 20:44, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Database reports/Broken section anchors

Hey, you update this report and I run a bot to fix them (some of them are here) It would be great if I can somehow have the whole list of broken ones so I run the bot on all of them instead of this partial list. Thank you. Ladsgroupoverleg 18:48, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

@Ladsgroup: Here is a file with the complete list (1.8 MB). --Bamyers99 (talk) 19:35, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. It's awesome but is it possible to have all parts (source, target, section)? If not. I find a way to get it to work. Ladsgroupoverleg 20:16, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
@Ladsgroup: That is a file that was already being generated to determine new broken links. The redirect table contains the other information. --Bamyers99 (talk) 20:38, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
oh yeah. Thanks Ladsgroupoverleg 21:47, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
I started the bot based on your list now. Thanks! Ladsgroupoverleg 00:54, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Portal:Georgia (country)/New article announcement

Hi there! For Portal:Georgia (country)/New article announcement, have you considered changing the criteria to remove disambiguation pages, such as Georgia and List of birds of Georgia? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 16:23, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

@GoingBatty: Is there consensus for this change? --Bamyers99 (talk) 16:54, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
I don't know. I simply asked if you have considered it. GoingBatty (talk) 21:05, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

CleanupWorklistBot - Accessibility Category

Have you considered including the Category:Accessibility issue tracking categories in the CleanupWorklistBot tracking categories? I think it could help broaden awareness accessibility practices and the gap that exist on Wikipedia. Infoboxes especially are prime to add tracking categories that could be included like Infobox Body of Water has done with the missing alt texts. Though I think more categories can be developed to help track and cleanup project articles if they are made aware of the issues. I didn't dig into the code, but noticed categories seemed a focus of the operation. Wolfgang8741 says: If not you, then who? (talk) 09:39, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

@Wolfgang8741: Accessibility categories have been added to CleanupWorklistBot. Example: Protected areas Accessibility issues. --Bamyers99 (talk) 12:33, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Template parameters

Hey. Having a weird issue with the TemplateParam script. It seems to work fine for some infoboxes like this, but for others it says the template doesn't exist (eg this)? Am I doing something wrong? ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 15:46, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) The template's documentation has to contain a Template Data section for that report to work. After the Template Data section is added, you have to wait until about a week after the beginning of the next month for the report to be generated. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:59, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
