Karmapa page edit

I'm reaching out in good faith, and adding 3 discussion topics to the article's talk, pinging Badabara. Can we work together on repairing the errors? Thanks. Pasdecomplot (talk) 20:17, 24 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

The topic you wish to edit is complex and multi-sided, and the leading paragraph should reflect that. I will take an other look at the talk page. Badabara (talk) 22:33, 24 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Good, thanks for responding. And, thanks for the link to blocking - but which editor requested the block? (Just asking since it was unwarranted - I was correcting info and providing RS.) Pasdecomplot (talk) 22:49, 24 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Pasdecomplot I don't know where the block came from. My guess is it came from an unrelated page. You can look into who/why blocked you etc: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:I_have_been_blocked
I am replying to your comments on talk page now... Badabara (talk) 23:06, 24 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi JimRenge. A really powerful social norm here on Wikipedia is to assume good faith of our fellow editors. I will assume that you wish to give guidance in earnest. Lama Jigme Rinpoche and others edit

Many thanks for you thanks, it is my pleasure (to please you)! I've been busy improving Draft:Lobsang Nyandak page, which also is worth the effort. If any other difficulty in a page, please contact me. All the very best wishes, --Rédacteur Tibet (talk) 21:47, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

...hmmm. The Draft:Lobsang Nyandak page looks good to me. It looks like you've worked on it quite a lot since it was last declined. Do you think it's ready to pass, or are you still looking for others to contribute? Badabara (talk) 05:52, 4 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi Rédacteur Tibet, I went ahead and added a bit to the intro. I also have a thought, which is perhaps the page isn't being accepted because of the structure. The "career" section with dates reads a bit like a resume, and that seems to be the criticism? Have you thought of changing the structure of "career" to tell a story? Juicy bits relevant to his legacy and the important role he serves in protecting Tibetan Government-in-Exile. Also there's no mention of his travels in the West... Best Badabara (talk) 06:34, 4 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
I thank you for your analysis and ideas. I had "resubmitted" the draft following suggestions here [1]. The review may take time. It is said that in the meantime, anyone can improve the page. So, if you have time, it is very useful. As for the structure, I haven't changed it since Timofeytv created the page. I think you are right that it would be good to write a story. There is a page about Lodi Gyari that may help for the structure. You are right also for his travels to the West, it could be more detailed. I lack time these days, so, I appreciate your work. All the very best, --Rédacteur Tibet (talk) 11:23, 4 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi Rédacteur Tibet, I'm glad to see the page was moved to mainspace. Congrats! Badabara (talk) 06:01, 24 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Badabara. I think Timofeytv made the most important work. It should have been accepted as he proposed it initially. All the best wishes, --Rédacteur Tibet (talk) 12:41, 25 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

fr:Jigmé Rinpoché edit

Hi Badabara, I have translated (and more) the page you wrote about Lama Jigme Rinpoche. One user says the references are not sufficiently focused on him. One reference you found is "Gerd Bausch, "Radiant Compassion, The Life of the 16th Gyalway Karmapa, Volume 1." 2018". I noticed in table of contents that this book has a chapter entitled "Lama Jigme Rinpoche" p. 265-271. If you have access to his book, could you verify if it can be used to improve notability of the wikipedia page? Best wishes, --Rédacteur Tibet (talk) 20:57, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Rédacteur Tibet. I do have the book by Gerd Bausch, and the chapter you mention is not about Jigme Rinpche, but an account on 16th Karmapa by Jigme Rinpoche. I imagine there are reliable high quality sources in French, not available in English, on the topic of Jigme Rinpoche because Dhagpo Kagyu Ling is located in France.
When I created the Lama Jigme Rinpoche (Kagyu) page it went through a rigorous process and was finally deemed a notable wikipedia page. The process and conversations that transpired are not on the talk page. They are found here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jigme (Kagyu lama). Perhaps this is helpful?
Best of luck! Badabara (talk) 05:19, 12 December 2022 (UTC)≤Reply
So far, it was helpful. As you contributed to Ogyen Trinley Dorje page, fyi : [2]. Best wishes, --Rédacteur Tibet (talk) 21:24, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Copy/pasting from The Treasury of Lives edit

In this edit, you copy/pasted from the source with almost no changes, leaving the different spelling used at that site intact. That's a copyright violation. I've removed the copy/pasted material from the article. You must write in your own words, even close paraphrasing is out. Skyerise (talk) 23:00, 9 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Sloppy editing on my part. Apologies.
Thank you for your edits on the Drukpa Kunley page. The intro is starting to hold true to his biography! Badabara (talk) 23:44, 9 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Introduction to contentious topics edit

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Additionally, if I may speak on behalf of the WikiProject Buddhism community, congratulations on this milestone. It is heartwarming to see you as an active user after all these years. Take good care, my friend. Namo Buddhaya!
