possibly from multiple sources. I listed one in the talk section; I'm having trouble with that tag, and there is probably a better one I could have used. By all means remove it if you feel it's appropriate: but I can guarantee to you the page contains egregious violations. If you know of specific material that is not infringing, and would like to rescue the article, please do so. But I should warn you that the editor who removed some material just before I put that tag on, should have removed much more (he copied and pasted the copyvios there to begin with.)

The page was a bit of a mess, so I'm not sorry to see it go, and the fact that it was created by dumping in paragraphs explains why it wasn't any good. Perhaps it should be reduced to a stub to let it grow again without infringing material. help on templates, requiring prior help on the help templates, evidently

Here's one of those cases where either it's hard to decide between irony or aptness, as descriptive nouns ....

{{helpme}} Looking at the sandbox(es) for templates. Confused about templates, and what they're intended for, for an ordinary editor. Do I create templates there for use on my user pages, are they used (should they be used?) to make templates for use in topic talk pages, or other users' pages? (not something I would want to do anytime soon.) And if I decide to experiment with them in the sandbox, how do I actually create the template in my user space -- do I make a page specifically for storing templates? finally, are templates used to create the "info messages" (I don't know what they're called, but they have the blue circle with an i in it, and people tend to make liberal (over liberal?) use of them.) It's hard to tell sometimes which ones are standard, and which customized. Guidance would be appreciated. Bacrito (talk) 13:17, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Yo, Bacrito. First things first, templates are standardised pages intended for common use on other pages. There are hundreds of pages requiring some of the same information (articles on anarchism need links to other articles on anarchism, which is done through the footer template {{anarchism}}), and it does not make sense to reinvent the wheel in each specific instance, and then have to change hundreds of pages when something needs improving rather than one page.

There is a Template: namespace, and a User: namespace, and templates for use in articles, article talkpages and project pages, such as {{merge}}, {{talkheader}}, and {{fishing}} are kept in the Template: namespace. Personal sandboxes, such as User:Skomorokh/Ramor, as well as templates intended for userspace like User:UBX/User /b/tard (a userbox) are generally kept in the User: namespace.

Anything you want to create experimentally you should create in a subpage of your userpage, e.g. User:Bacrito/sandbox. If you want to experiment with an existing template, you can do so in its sandbox; for example {{infobox actor}} has a sandbox at Template:Infobox actor/sandbox. You can put a template on a page (a process called [[WP:TRANSCLUSION|transclusion) by writing the name of the template in between two curly brackets like this: {{template name}}.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "info messages", but I think you're referring to things like {{Translation request}}, they all get their blue logo with the i in it from the template {{notice}} (which has instructions). You can find out which templates are standardised by viewing the source code and seeing if they themselves use meta-templates like {{notice}} or {{ambox}}. The "barbarian" part of Skomorokh's name there leads to a marvelous illuminating essay. The original French version of which can be found here [1] All this stuff gets way too "meta" for me.
