Wikipedia Gadget and cross domain problem? edit

I am developing a gadget that will access my local web server and retrieve some record for me. I tested and it works fine on my local server, however when I did the importScript from my skin.js, It can not retrieve the record using xmlhttpRequest. when I searched from Google, I was told it is a cross domain problem and I have tried all solutions described, it did not work on wiki. Is there any special things I need to do?

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   or   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you.
Maybe, don't try to use your local server, try to use C:\temp\...\ (or which folder structur/OS you are using). maybe this might get an exception by the browser. Otherwise try to search within your browser prefs if you can turn this security rule off (maybe only for wikipedia or so). mabdul 11:16, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
