lady sovereign edit

i felt that the part I deleted wasn't needed as it gives one side to a two sided story. I didn't add anything to the discussion I now realize. Maybe I should also log into my account too for once, that may help.

Alternative Tentacles Album Covers edit

I contacted the Press Department of Alternative Tentacles Records regarding their stance on using album covers under fair use on Wikipedia. They were very helpful, here's the transcript:

From: press@alternativetentacles.com
To: AxiomShell

Hi there
yeah, it's fine with us if you want to put the cover images on wikipedia.
i can send you super hi res versions if you want but they will probably eat up your mailbox.
i think the covers that are on our site are probably fine.
Thanks!

Youtube edit

Hi J.smith. Just saw your message in Talk:4′33″#YouTube_links regarding YouTube videos. There's a very interesting video of 4′33″, performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, which was I broadcasted, and I think offered as Real Player download at the time. What's Wikipedia stance on these kind of clips? The video is in here Cheers. AxiomShell 10:11, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Axiom, the video looks to be a copyright violation. The rule of thumb I use is that unless the video is officially uploaded ("director" account usually) or youtube has a special deal with the network the it's safe to assume it's a copyright violation. ---J.S (T/C/WRE) 17:42, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:The Power of Lard (cover).jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:The Power of Lard (cover).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:52, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Message from WikiProject Punk music edit

Hello!

You may be interested to know that WikiProject Punk music has recently undergone a major revitalization. Please visit the project page to see our new look and check out some of our helpful new features, such as the Assessment Department and the Collaboration of the week. There are also a number of tasks on our Things to do page that you may be interested in helping with.

We are currently holding a roll call to help gauge how many active project members we have. Please visit the project's talk page and add your signature to the roll sheet to express your continued interest in the project. Also, if you have not already done so, please take a minute to add your name to the Participants page along with a brief summary of your punk-related interests, so that other project members will be better able to collaborate with you. If you do not add your signature to the roll sheet by November 30, 2008 your name will be moved to our list of inactive members. We may also take the liberty of removing the project userbox from your userpage if it appears there, to prevent you from automatically appearing in Category:WikiProject Punk music members. Of course you are free to rejoin the project and re-add the userbox at any time if you would like to become active in the project again.

Thank you and we hope you will continue to support WikiProject Punk music!

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
