This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. The page you created about yourself has been or will shortly be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, but if you want to use the content from it, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Event.pdf

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Event.pdf. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 13:18, 12 December 2010 (UTC). Wait, please

Can you please stop re-uploading that same image under ever new filenames for a moment, and instead comment on the question I raised in the deletion discussion here: are you really the author of those images? These are pictures my boss, Michael O'Shaughnessy, has given me to create an Wikipedia page on his behalf. So yes, they are my pictures. I am trying to get the size correct, hence the number of times I have downloaded the pictures. So please stop blocking my uploading. Awwsurf (talk) 00:09, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

If you have size problems, then you shouldn't upload it under different names every time. After the first upload you should use the "Upload a new version of this file" button on the pictures description page. This way you update the file. Happy editing! Okay, I'll take your word for it about the copyright, but just so that everything is in order, can you please add a notice to that effect to the image description page (e.g. "from the private archive of M. O.S., posted here on his behalf"), and send a confirmation e-mail to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia.org" confirming you are acting on his behalf? About the size issue, we basically want only a single copy, the largest, best-quality one you have. The wiki software will then automatically create scaled-down copies at whatever size you specify in the article. Sorry for the trouble. Fut.Perf. ☼ 06:10, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
