Double redirects via your bot

I noticed AvicBot is fixing double redirects, and in looking up whether I was boneheaded or not (I am) I noticed it's not on this list of bots that fix double redirects - you may wish to fill out its entry at your convenience. -- stillnotelf is invisible 18:40, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Uklanjanje bot zastavice / Removal of bot flag

(English) I want to inform you that on bs.wiki there has been a voting that resulted in accepting the removal of bot flags for inactive and/or interwiki bots. Your bot has been identified to meet at least one of these criteria. This decision has been made due to the new developments with Wikidata by which all interwiki bots have become unnecessary. If you want to keep your bot flag, then please report that here by indicating what new task your bot will be performing and how this will be done. Note however that this has to be a concrete and useful task for the community before it will be accepted. If you have any questions, please let me know on my talk page. In case of no response, the removal of the bot flag will be performed within a few weeks from now. However, after that period you are always welcome to file a new request for a bot flag.

AvicBot and redirects from userspace

This is a feature request, not a bug report; I've not spotted any misbehavior. The "How to use sandbox" section of Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions has a question regarding a userspace sandbox: a page was created in userspace, moved to AFC space, moved to mainspace, and AvicBot correctly fixed the double redirect. Is there any way to tell the bot not to fix double redirects from userspace to mainspace, since confusion can arise for new users? Nyttend (talk) 04:28, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

{{Bots|deny=AvicBot}}should do it. There are other bots that fix redirects, though, so {{nobots}} might be better. Avicennasis @ 04:54, 28 Iyar 5773 / 04:54, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.

The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

Left of Center (song)

Greetings. Please change the redirect on Left of Center (song) from Left of Center (Sirius) to Left of center, because:

  1. The Sirius page is about a radio station, not a song;
  2. The Sirius page is mentioned on the disambiguation that is Left of center;
  3. There are at least two actual songs called "Left of Center" with references already (Suzanne Vega, Serj Tankian)
  4. It could probably be argued successfully that the Sirius station was named because of the Suzanne Vega song.

I have attempted to fix this myself, only to be undone. So I try this route.... -- Hooperswim (talk) 21:17, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Done Redirects can be repointed easily - but you shouldn't point a redirect at a redirect, which is why AvicBot fixed it again. this edit should solve the problem and show the difference. Avicennasis @ 05:17, 14 Tamuz 5773 / 05:17, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

AvicBot: Talk:St Jude's Anglican Church

The bot has twice reversed my redirect (for the talk page but not the article). There is no double redirect, something seems to have gone wrong with the bot. In the mean time I have blanked the page - the Talk page is empty anyway. Thanks.--Mhockey (talk) 14:51, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

(edit conflict) This edit by you points the page to Talk:St Jude's Church which itself is a redirect to Talk:St Jude's Church, Kensington. There is no problem with the bot. Avicennasis @ 21:27, 15 Tamuz 5773 / 21:27, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I see the problem now - actually two problems. 1. My redirect should have been to Talk:St. Jude's Church, not Talk:St Jude's Church. 2. After an old move of St Jude's Church the original page was correctly redirected to the dab page here, but the original Talk page was not redirected, so it was left as a redirect to the wrong page. Now if someone could do a bot to check that talk pages follow article pages...--Mhockey (talk) 23:12, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

AvicBot and BLP

Please see this contribution page: [1].  This was used to attack a politician at 2013-06-15T17:56:13.  The edit was reverted at 2013-06-15T18:53:57.  But by 2013-06-15T18:44:19, AvicBot was spreading the BLP violation.

It is my technical understanding, perhaps flawed, that double redirects are entirely ok.  So would it be possible to not "fix" a double redirect until at least 24 hours has elapsed?  Thank you, Unscintillating (talk) 21:23, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Scouting images

AvicAWB tagged a number of Scouting images with {{Non-free logo}} that already used {{non-free Scout logo}}. Since | was not set on {{Non-free logo}}, all these images are now in the categories Non-free images with NFUR stated Non-free images for NFUR review. --  Gadget850 talk 10:53, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Ah. Sorry, I did not know about that template to scrub against. I'll get that fixed for future page edits. Avicennasis @ 11:45, 16 Tamuz 5773 / 11:45, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

AvicBot bug report

This edit of AvicBot has replaced a perfectly correct redirect to an article by a buggy redirect to a dab page, asserting that the old redirect was a double redirect, which was wrong. D.Lazard (talk) 17:10, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

No bug - the page Axiom (computer algebra system) was a redirect, briefly, per this edit. At the time AvicBot made his edit, the page was a double-redirect. Avic  00:29, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
