Wait, really? When and where was this? Maybe it's old enough that we can start some kind of review? If consensus has really allowed something like that, it's got to be fought at every possible moment. These "second" romanizations are almost always unhelpful bloat (good exception: an official romanization for a Japanese-based title might be inaccurate, like with Chohmakaimura). They are not "Japanese-language titles", they are "titles of the game used in Japan"; there's a difference. We are an English-language encyclopedia about potentially everything. There's nothing wrong with tracking any given official release of a product, as we do all over the place, regardless of whether the country/ies in question are known to "speak English" predominantly. Unless there's some guideline specifically forbidding this practice? I'm going to at least add the English form of the titles back, mostly because you also reverted some key information about the game's release. (Why even bother with non-American or European dates, then? And what about the fact that only a small portion of Europe actually speaks English natively?) Despatche (talk) 17:20, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

...However. I know this may sound like it's speaking to the letter, but NONENG is not quite what it seems. I'm not entirely sure why, but it's specifically talking about writing systems, not titles.

Either way, I think a case could be made for these NBA games. They're American-made games, but on Japanese-made platforms. Sega has only one page for a list of games, and it's specifically for all Japanese efforts. Quite honestly, I think that alone should be a huge exception for the NONENG, if not simply the idea of tracking every given name of a product. We need a discussion on this, and some kind of consistency needs to be thought over.

(I'm a little offended that you suggest I'm looking for special treatment about anything. I'm looking for consistency between one product and another, and respect for all languages and countries that receive a given product (because those are a lot easier and more sensible to deal with than events and concepts); again, we are an English-language Wikipedia about potentially everything. We should not choose some facts and ignore others for the sake of pure opinion. Let it be clear that I would suggest to the Japanese Wikipedia that their article on Bulls vs Blazers should use the original US and EU title as a default.) Reverted edit?

Why did you revert my edit on User:Jimbo Wales?? It was a totally ok edit. All I said is, "Wikipedia can always be improved!" (edit here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Jimbo_Wales&diff=586166312&oldid=586078524).

Jimbo clearly says: "You can edit this page! Really, you can! If you would like to, please feel free to do so. Make an edit! Make several edits! After all, that is what Wikipedia is all about."

I don't see what I did wrong.

It's still Jimbo's personal page. By edit, Jimbo means "fix the page" or "make it prettier", not "put words in my mouth". I also wouldn't mind if anyone came along and fixed a userbox or a spelling error on my user page. But if someone added "Wikipedia is great!" to it or something like that, it's a different matter because it expresses an opinion and implies that that opinion is mine. --Atlan (talk) 22:01, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

Actually, no, you're wrong. Jimbo specifically says, "I like to keep it a certain way (simple and free from anything that requires a div tag, style, or template)". By saying 'Make an edit', Jimbo means that you can contribute to his page in a way that will improve it. My edit did exactly that. I did not put words in his mouth at all. The text you edited is written by Jimbo, and it is written in the first person. If you add to that text, it is just as if Jimbo says it, BECAUSE IT'S WRITTEN IN THE FIRST PERSON. Basically anything else is acceptable. For instance, in the text you edited, at some point he says "I trust you". A good and acceptable edit would be to link this to WP:AGF. This is already the case but it serves as a good example. The only thing you shouldn't do is to alter or add to things he writes in the first person (which is basically the entire page). But why do you even care? Of all the things you could do on Wikipedia, editing Jimbo's user page is about the least important I can think of.--Atlan (talk) 23:59, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

I just happened to see this discussion. I find two things wrong with Newyorkadam's edit: First it repeats "can always": can always use more faithful editors. It is, after all, a permanent work-in-progress. Wikipedia can always be improved! Second if something is a a permanent work in progress it stands to reason that it constantly changes and can always be improved, so the latter does not have to be stated explicitly. Hello, I don't want to start a edit war with you, however, there's no reason to undo the edit, it isn't vandalism. When ever I edit someone else's user page, I always let them know on their talk page and what edit I've done. And if the user doesn't like the edit he/she can undo it. How about you just don't do it so there's nothing for them to undo. Or ASK FIRST and then edit their user page if it's okay. It's not your business whether someone else has articles they created on their page or not. Sorry Atlan, I hope you didn't mind my comments at WT:RfA. Actually I'm trying my best to fix the issue. And we must not fight among ourself. If we won't solve the problem then it is possible that no one will try to run for adminship due to the nature of unfriendly critisim. I don't know if you're an admin or not but just imagin yourself on the same place Alan is now. You will never like if someone say "you are too inexperience". When I joined Wikipedia, I dreamt to become an admin like Dennis, Kudpug, Drmies etc. But now the dream has become a nightmare. I hope, you might understand. Sorry if I've hurt you. I do not agree this an issue that needs fixing, nor does anyone else besides you in the thread you started. While I may not like someone telling me "you are too inexperienced", it certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings. I would also expect such comments, since running for RFA means asking other editors their opinion about you, good or bad. Yes, I've been on Wikipedia for 12 years which is before RFA even existed. You however, have not and the only reason you suddenly bring up earlier RFA's is because Kudpung mentioned those on WT:RFA. So what about the earlier RFA's? Those are in the past. Aren't you complaining about RFA's in the present? Do you think your complaint is valid because RFA was bad 5 years ago? Because it's not. You're not making any sense and your original complaint has no merit, which is why no one agrees with you and why your thread is now devolving into a string of jokes.
