April 2019 edit

Hello, I'm David Tornheim. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Jada Pinkett Smith, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. --David Tornheim (talk) 07:02, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I've re-added the categorization with source. Asmallteapot (talk) 07:20, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
No. A YouTube video of the event is not a WP:RS for what happened in the event. You need a WP:SECONDARY, WP:INDEPENDENT source that talks about it. Please review: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Albums#YouTube_references_(and_others_like_it)_used_improperly. Please also review WP:RS, WP:PRIMARY, and WP:OR. Please self-revert. If you have further questions, feel free to ask. --David Tornheim (talk) 07:27, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Please also review WP:RS/P and search for YouTube, which is in the list. --David Tornheim (talk) 07:28, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

David, I've added citations and inline descriptions as you've requested, but you responded with destructive edits. I will engage the dispute resolution process if you continue to make destructive reverts. Asmallteapot (talk) 07:36, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
As a brand new editor, I strongly advise against using ad hominem attacks against established editors like myself as you did here with the edit summary, "Respond to troll".  Please see the page "No Personal attacks" (WP:NPA).  Do not do it.  This is a warning.  --David Tornheim (talk) 07:39, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Please read WP:BRD. The burden is on you to build WP:CONSENSUS for your preferred version. Another editor, Larry Hockett has noticed your introduction of this pie stuff and reverted as well at Pat Sajak here. Please slow down and learn the rules. You are new. When editors are opposed to your changes, take a deep breath and argue your case on the talk page of the article. Don't revert and get into an edit-war. And don't call other editors names. I'm sure you mean well. --David Tornheim (talk) 07:46, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
I have been editing Wikipedia for many years, though usually minor typo fixes while not logged in. Your immediate nomination of my category for deletion, and decision to continue destructively reverting my edits after adding the citations and inline discussion you requested, seemed like an attempt at [warring]. I am working toward the consensus you are asking for, but you continue to change the criteria for what you feel would make these edits acceptable. I am happy to engage the dispute resolution process if you continue to destructively revert my contributions without attempting to reach a consensus. Category:People who have been pied has been nominated for discussion edit

Category:People who have been pied, which you created, has been nominated for possible deletion, merging, or renaming. A discussion is taking place to decide whether this proposal complies with the categorization guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the categories for discussion page. Thank you. --David Tornheim (talk) 07:15, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Pat Sajak edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Pat Sajak; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. --David Tornheim (talk) 07:31, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Welcome edit

I am sorry if this welcome (and the banner below) seems disingenuous. We seem to be off on the wrong foot. I do believe you have good intentions, and if you have been editing wikipedia and correcting typos as you say above, that's wonderful. Thank you. The more editors doing that the better.

I regret I did not put this welcome banner on your page before I put up the various warnings. Recently, I have been doing a lot of clean up of WP:vandalism and warning editors who create that vandalism, and if you do enough of that, sometimes you accidentally WP:BITE new editors. That was definitely not my intention. If you feel bitten, I am sorry for that.

I'm increasingly convinced by the sincerity of your responses, that you want to be a serious Wikipedian, and I welcome that. I would like you to slow down as you do not seem to understand our sourcing rules. It would be best if you spend more time reading up on sourcing before continuing to add things that are not reliably sourced based on our rules. Because you have broken a number of rules--I am assuming good faith that you broke them without realizing you were breaking them--I warned you primarily so that (1) you know about the rule broken (2) you do not repeat the behavior.

But again, I do regret I had not started with this welcome message. I imagine if I had started with that, things may have gone better. Anyway, Happy editing. I'm going to give our conversation a rest for now. Feel free to ask me questions in the future, but let's take a cooling off, okay? --David Tornheim (talk) 08:14, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
