How?

This is impressive! I'm curious, how you did it? I mean, did you use a script or you did it manually? 109.83.206.186 (talk) 23:24, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I pulled the revisions down as xml using curl and processed them locally using c#, .net4.0, VS2010 and LinqPAD as needed. Very much a hack and slash :) ArtifexMayhem (talk) 01:14, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
A tool that automatically generate something similar will help a lot in documenting disputes. 109.83.206.186 (talk) 01:44, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
I've thought about it (a little). This was a fairly easy case because all the diffs of any import key off changes in the first three sentences. Automating the process could get ugly real fast. Maybe I'm over thinking it:) ArtifexMayhem (talk) 02:14, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
I have a few ideas. The user is told that the tool is designed to focus on a specific dispute in an article, not all disputes, and asked to specify certain section in the article. Another idea, beside each diff a checkbox so the user can specify the diffs that are relevant and then copy the generated code to the Wikipedia. 109.83.206.186 (talk) 12:09, 7 November 2011 (UTC) Note:Reply
Hmm. Some powerful search capability would also be needed. I had over 800 diffs to start with on abortion. Do you have another dispute (settled or not) in mind where you think this would be helpful? ArtifexMayhem (talk) 13:24, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
