Speedy deletion of Carers Alliance edit

A tag has been placed on Carers Alliance requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. AfD nomination of Carers Alliance edit

Carers Alliance, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Carers Alliance satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Carers Alliance and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Carers Alliance during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Mayalld (talk) 21:49, 19 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have removed the speedy deletion tag from Carers Alliance, but you really must provide reliable sources, or it might wind up being deleted for failure to verify its notability.

The removal of the {{wiki}} and {{unreferenced}} tags is acceptable (although perhaps not a productive move, because the tags tend to attract editors to improve it). However, I don't accept that removal of the notability tag is appropriate. The article now contains links to the party site (which as a self-published site doesn't help establish notability), and a single external reference to a list of candidates in an election. This proves that the organisation exists, but does not prove notability per WP:ORG. As such, I am returning the {{notable}} tag, and adding a {{refimprove}} tag. This article has an uphill struggle to establish notability, and whilst it may become notable in the future, I don't believe that it is currently notable.
An AfD discussion is now in progress. I instigated that process, but I don't own the management of it. At present, all discussion of the proposal has favoured deletion. Even if I were now of the opinion that notability has been shown (which I am not), it would be an abuse of process to attempt to withdraw the nomination. The process runs for approximately 5 days (unless there is a very clear consensus earlier), so if there is anything out there which might prove notability, then it is important to get it in sooner rather than later to allow people to reverse their view if appropriate.
